National Biscuit Day is 29 May, apparently. What's your favourite biscuit?

My long-time fave is what my uni friend and I call Dog Biscuits", which are a home-made oaty, crunchy biscuit.

Currently though, my fave is my own home-made digestive bscuits with added chololate chips ?

You?

I have just finished a time out which was very nice.

Dark chocolate Hobnobs.

Borders buttery sultana melts are as delicious as my homemade shortbread. Lotus caramelised are nice with a coffee Foxes ginger crunch are fab.

cornishpatsy Fri 14-May-21 13:14:14

Lotus with coffee, rich tea with tea, digestive with cheese, shortbread on its own.

I have to constantly keep the tin filled up as OH loves a biscuit with his afternoon cup of tea, he only likes the boring ones Rich Tea, Custard Cream, Milk Chocolate digestives. I only occasionally have a biscuit and my choice would be Borders Dark Chocolate ginger, Lidl do a similar one (on offer this week as it happens so bought some). Sarnia, I used to like ginger thins but have not seen them for a while, wonder if they have stopped making them?

Because I'm counting calories it has to be rich tea fingers. I can have 3 for under 100 cals and they do satisfy that "need something sweet" moment!!

Garibaldi (aka squashed fly here) but I hardly ever buy them, since I’m very poor at controlling the urge to scoff the whole packet in about half an hour.

Talking of dog biscuits, our dog never cared for Bonios, except to bury them in the garden for a rainy day, so one day I ate one, for a bet.
I actually quite liked it!
The challenge I never did rise to, was from dd1, who bet me that I’d never eat a few of the dried mealworms my SiL used as bird food.
Dd was quite correct. She crunched some with evident relish, though - IIRC it cost me a fiver.

Georgesgran Fri 14-May-21 13:36:59

I don’t have a favorite - I just love biscuits!

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 13:43:49

M&S posh chocolate chip cookies.

And the banana oaty ones I made with the help of DGD. It's a BBC recipe, slightly adapted to whatever is to hand at any time.
Last time we used pinhead oatmeal, not oat flakes and they were very good. Once I added syrup, another time black treacle.

I was successfully pursuing a programme of no snacks/lose the lard until this thread appeared.

(Now just waiting for the oven timer?)

Sago Fri 14-May-21 14:31:42

I fantasise over two biscuit types of yesteryear.
The first was a Rondello, it was the size of a dustbin lid and you only got a few in a box.
The second was a digestive base with a caramac topping.
Oh the good old days?

aggie Fri 14-May-21 14:36:13

My favourite is/was gypsy creams , haven’t seen them for a while .

felice Fri 14-May-21 15:27:04

A packet of thin, caramel filled waffle biscuits arrived as a freebie with my shopping order once.
I am now addicted to them, yet I do not like anything sweet including chocolate and sweets.
I ration them as I could eat the pack, not expensive either. They are always in my shopping order now and only 1.45€ for 10.

B9exchange Fri 14-May-21 16:17:27

Just how many biscuit tins have been raided since you started this thread OP? grin

I do love a chocolate biscuit, Foxes selection would do for me www.foxs-biscuits.co.uk/biscuits/Fabulous/Chocolatey-Biscuit-Selection and agree the Borders dark chocolate gingers are wonderful.

I was tempted by the talk of peanut butter biscuits on the Good Morning thread, and they were definitely very popular too.

lemongrove Fri 14-May-21 16:19:49

Peanut cookies, Borders dark choc gingers or plain digestives.

AGAA4 Fri 14-May-21 16:22:57

I have banned biscuits from the house as I eat too many of them.
My favourites are malted milk, bourbons, jammy dodgers, choc chip cookies, shortbread ..........that's why I don't buy them. I have too many favourites.

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 16:24:25

I rarely buy biscuits because I eat them
??

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 16:25:47

X post

I must learn to type more quickly.
DGD asked me why I was using a stylus as she just whizzes along with her thumbs.

Beechnut Fri 14-May-21 16:32:35

Any sort of wafer biscuit and shortbread are my favourites.

EkwaNimitee Fri 14-May-21 16:35:35

The best biscuits in the world are Border Biscuits dark chocolate gingers. Crisp biscuit base, not crumbly or hard; just the right thickness of lovely dark chocolate and very gingery. I can resist any others but generally avoid going down the biscuit aisle. I don’t work for them and they’re not paying me for this blurb!.
I don’t buy them very often or I’d be looking like a biscuit barrel.

Kate1949 Fri 14-May-21 17:38:26

Pink wafers.
I used to love Lemon Puffs and Royal Scots but I haven't seen them for a while.

dragonfly46 Fri 14-May-21 17:42:33

I am lucky - I don’t like biscuits!
