Hello! ?

By my reckoning, this thread will see us through until we are near to C********!

SachaMac’s question was ‘if you could travel back to any time or place for one day, where / when would it be’?

I’m still mulling it over…

henetha Fri 05-Aug-22 23:21:27

Yes I did. Some they earned and then some extra.

Did you have a Saturday morning job? I worked in a pet shop.

MrsKen33 Sat 06-Aug-22 04:20:48

No but I worked holidays when at college. Office and firework factory in the summer. Post at Christmas.
Did or do you smoke? I did start school. It was nearly obligatory.

Mollygo Sat 06-Aug-22 09:11:20

No. I tried one, did it wrong (or so I was told) and choked. That meant they were a health hazard before it was known that they are a health hazard.

Are you a scented candle person?

henetha Sat 06-Aug-22 09:48:33

No. I do have a couple and I like them, but I only light one occasionally as I can't help thinking it's just putting chemicals in the air and it's not good for our lungs.

Have you ever eaten tripe? Or hogs pudding? White hogs pudding is still around, they sell it in Newton Abbot market.
I never did like tripe.

biglouis Sat 06-Aug-22 09:58:34

No I never fancied any of those things!

If you could choose any item of jewellery (regardless of price) what would it be?

I would like a really elaborate turquoise Native American necklace.

AGAA4 Sat 06-Aug-22 16:56:48

I would probably buy something from a local jewellery artist. A necklace possibly.

What kind of films do you prefer?
Romance, thriller etc.

HowVeryDareYou Sat 06-Aug-22 19:43:40

I like psychological thrillers/crime films. I recently watched a film with Hugh Grant in A Very English Scandal (Netflix), where he played the disgraced MP Jeremy Thorpe, which was very good

HowVeryDareYou Sat 06-Aug-22 19:44:21

What's your favourite meal to have in a restaurant?

MrsKen33 Sun 07-Aug-22 05:08:17

Anything with fish normally. But we did have a very good halloumi chips and salad at a vegetarian cafe in Machynlleth last week.

Do you get the Sunday papers or have them all week?

FannyCornforth Sun 07-Aug-22 06:53:12

Ooh, that sounds nice Ken ?

We have the dreaded Daily Mail and The Times delivered every day.
The DM does drive me mad (especially at the moment with it’s ridiculous support for Truss) but I don’t get my political views from papers; and I buy it for the non newsy stuff in it.
It’s also the paper we had when I was growing up, so it’s a tradition thing.
I also have Private Eye, The Oldie magazine and Readers Digest delivered.

Do you have any papers or magazines?

DanniRae Sun 07-Aug-22 06:59:30

I don't get any papers ....... used to read Daily M**l but tired of it. I haven't found a paper that I like to replace it on Sunday or any day.

Do you read any magazines? My children get me Women's Weekly and Yours on subscription as a Christmas present every year. Sadly I am tiring of them too lately. Any suggestions for a magazine that will interest and inform me? Please smile

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 07-Aug-22 09:21:55

It depends on your interests DanniRae I enjoy flicking through Woman and Home when I'm at the hairdressers but wouldn't buy it. What about Prima?

Do you get any magazines about a special hobby?

henetha Sun 07-Aug-22 11:45:08

No I don't. I used to subscribe to Yours magazine but recently cancelled it as part of my economy drive.

When you wash your hair, how do you dry it? Blow dryer?
I let mine dry naturally unless I'm in a hurry to go out.
Then do you use hair straighteners, or a hot brush or similar?

HowVeryDareYou Sun 07-Aug-22 14:17:49

I wash my hair every morning, and leave it to dry (apart from blow-drying the fringe). I never used straighteners or tongs, it's naturally curly.

Can you swim?

Mine Sun 07-Aug-22 14:35:48

Yes I love to swim..My dad took myself and my sister to the swimming every Saturday morning and taught us...There was a diving dale in the pool and we used to jump off it...I can still remember the feeling of standing at the edge ready to jumpsmile....Was at Center Parcs on holiday with family and spent hours in the pool.

Do you go to clubs or spend time with close friends.

biglouis Sun 07-Aug-22 15:52:01

I dont go to anywhere now where there are crowds of people. Ive even lost my taste for antique fairs. I prefer to just have a meal with close friends.

How did you choose your user name? Does it have any special significance?

I used to have a tortoise called Biglouis who used to sneak into the kitchen, climb into the cupboards and push out the dishes. I adore all reptiles but especially tortoises.

ginny Sun 07-Aug-22 15:57:21

My user name is a nickname an aunt used to call me.

I currently have a very swollen and painful hand. No idea what has caused it.
Have you ever had an injury with no apparent cause ?

MrsKen33 Mon 08-Aug-22 10:31:41

Touch wood, no real injuries so far. I did have a fall when out walking, some years ago and hurt my shoulder. The doctor said it was a rugby injury ha! ha!

Very tired and bored today. What shall I do? Any suggestions ?

AGAA4 Mon 08-Aug-22 11:55:12

Go for a walk somewhere new or shop somewhere different. Do a puzzle or read an engrossing book?

Any other ideas for boring days?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Mon 08-Aug-22 16:04:55

I like to do something creative which pleases me - I'm never bored.

Please describe your kitchen, Mine's very small with pale grey cupboard/drawer fronts and a pastel 'wooden look' worktop.

HowVeryDareYou Mon 08-Aug-22 22:08:56

Our kitchen is pear wood (I hadn't heard of it before), with chrome handles and black, flecked worktops. All the appliances are integrated.

What's your favourite film?

Mollygo Mon 08-Aug-22 23:16:26

Waterloo-Christopher Plummer is so good as Wellington. Or Legally Blonde for a bit of light relief.

Do you like historical films or violent films?

FannyCornforth Tue 09-Aug-22 07:33:20

I’m not a massive film fan - I prefer series.
I like anything historical and absolutely hate anything violent (although I do love Scorsese’s films; he seems to get away with it!)

Who is your favourite film director?
I like a lot of Scorcese’s films and early Woody Allen.
(Biglouis I always wondered where your username was from! ? )

MrsKen33 Tue 09-Aug-22 14:15:29

I very rarely notice a director. If I like A film I couldn’t care who directed it. Same with books and writers.
Apart from being on here, what have you just been doing? . Me? Sleeping.
Be honest now!

AGAA4 Tue 09-Aug-22 14:18:40

Reading instead of getting on with some jobs that need doing.

Are you looking forward to Autumn or not at all?
