I was admitted this morning with an asthma flare-up caused by a bacterial infection. I've been here before and know the form so it's nothing to worry about.

Hope you all managed as good a Christmas as you could muster in the circumstances. I had a nice quiet day with the cats, a shoulder of lamb and a bottle or three of prosecco.

Daddima. We both seem to have every reason to call it The Suffering General. My youngest DD was born there 43 yrs ago. A nightmare experience!

LadyHonoraria I hope you’ve had a reasonable day and are improving.

That was the old Southern General. This is the shiny new Southern General, NHS Scotland's very expensive showcase that's only about five years old. It's had some bad publicity but I've been in a few times now for the same thing and I reckon if you are going to be ill there are far worse places to be.

I hope you are home now.
There are parts of the old buildings still in use, well at least up to pre Lockdown. Some of my appointments take place there.
My wee granddaughter loves to stand and await the arrival of the helicopter on the roof!

All my younger siblings (all past 50 now) were born at the Southern General . My mum was a nurse there in the 60's too .

Hope you feel better soon LHD

Hope you get home well enough and get that bottle of prosecco open.

Hope you are well enough to get home soon LadyHD.
There is no place like home and your own bed.

I am well acquainted with the new hospital now and it is a huge improvement to my experience in the SG in the 70s that I mentioned.

When I lived in Glasgow the new hospital was affectionately called the Death Star because from the air the building looks like a star.
