Flu Vaccinations

I was due to have my flu jab this morning; all went well. I was surprised by the news programmes when I woke up this morning, though. They were saying that today was the first day of the rollout for the Flu Vaccines. I was sure I had read some people mention that they had already had theirs.

Where are you all with yours? Booked, already jabbed or haven't heard anything?

Nothing yet. On my surgery web site there is a notice to say flu jab delay. I phoned and was told to wait until I hear?

Had mine at my pharmacy. Husband going to GP who has a walk-in clinic for flu vaccination tomorrow.

When did you have yours Niobe? I had mine at our local Boots but the letters have gone out for my surgeries clinics.

It just felt as if they had the wrong news on this moring - that someone had picked up an old running order smile Very odd.

We had ours three weeks ago at Boots. I think they are now rolling it out free of charge for over 50s.

Ask at our surgery yesterday. No delays and text will be sent, like last year, to call and book it. I had mine late October last year.

I was told a couple of weeks ago that I wouldn't get it until at least the end of November.
Yesterday the receptionist at the surgery phoned and gave me an appointment for next week.

Had mine 3 weeks ago today, 1st day Boots were doing them, over 65’s.

Had mine a month ago at my GP surgery.

Pammie1 Fri 08-Oct-21 18:05:41

Had mine two weeks ago and the third Covid jab last week.

I had mine at the local pharmacy several weeks ago, it is free for the over 50's this year.

That makes more sense Kate thank you.

Had mine yesterday while at GP to get blood test.

Got mine on 13 Nov. I wanted both the booster and flu jab at the same time, but that's not happening here unfortunately. No news in booster at all yet.

Had a hard time getting through to book at local surgery, finally managed on third attempt to get a slot for tomorrow. Surgery used to send a letter out, this year I only found out when they were doing them when ordering repeat prescription online.

Haven’t heard anything except that phone numbers to make appointments will be available from November. No idea when the actual programme will begin, though. ?‍♀️

Earlier this week I received my email invitation to have my Covid Booster vaccination. I made an online appointment at the local pharmacy, not Boots, by the way. As I waited this morning I was asked if I wanted to have the flu jab at the same time. I agreed, although I felt slightly apprehensive. I'm pleased to say that I feel fine, no side effects whatsoever.

Had mine two weeks ago at the local pharmacy . Mr C had his three weeks ago at the GP clinic at the same time as his covid booster.

Rosycheeks Fri 08-Oct-21 20:22:41

Having mine tomorrow at GPs

annodomini Fri 08-Oct-21 20:52:20

The news today was 'new news' about flu vaccinations being extended to more of the population including children. I know some children have had it previously- in the form of a nasal spray - including my GS who is asthmatic.

Callistemon Fri 08-Oct-21 20:56:10

What strains are in the flu vaccines this year?
Does anyone know?

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 08-Oct-21 20:59:06

OH and I had text messages from our Health Centre the other day about flu and covid booster simultaneously. We booked on line and are having them done next Tuesday

NotTooOld Fri 08-Oct-21 21:02:37

Did anyone get side effects from the flu jab? I had mine a week ago and never normally get side effects but this year I have felt achy all over and very tired. It goes away if I take Ibuprofen. I have been alright today so it has probably passed now, just interested to hear if anyone else was similarly affected?

TillyTrotter Fri 08-Oct-21 21:08:43

I had a flu jab a week ago at a Boots pharmacy. Yes, I had a reaction to it NeverTooOld and never have before. Headache, sneezing, tired - did a lateral flow test in case it was Covid but it was clear.
36 hours later I was better.

Shandy57 Fri 08-Oct-21 21:11:09

I didn't feel well for a few days NotTooOld, not sure why as it isn't a live vaccine.
