Cleaning and repolishing Amtico floors

It's just taken about four hours to strip off the old polish, rinse, polish and second coat of polish on the Amtico in our (admittedly large) kitchen and (not too big) bathroom. It's a big deterrent to doing that more frequently.

Does everyone else find it so time-consuming or am I doing it wrongly?

Yes I've used the Amtico products, yes it looks wonderful, kitchen particularly as that's oak-effect planking. Because it's cold outside I didn't open windows which may have speeded up the drying between processes but it's taken up a huge amount of time.

Do tell what you do?

That sounds like a lot of work! I just wash ours with weak detergent (Flash or own brand), rinse and leave it to dry naturally. I’m obviously lazy! blush

I do the same as you Jessity but not often. In between washes are done the same as Squiffy.

Squiffy we do same as you ( well DH does. Floors his department) can’t be doing with Amtico products any more. They look just as good with a mop and Flash !!

Phew! Relieved that I'm not alone! wink

I have a Karndean floor and do that refresh thing once a year. As the final polish has to be left for 6 hours I do half the room at a time. So basically it takes up two days. It does look good when it’s done though.

I’ve spent the last forty odd years being obsessed with shiny dust free surfaces. I just don’t have the inclination or the energy anymore. I wish I’d realised years ago that life’s too short to waste on making sure everything sparkles. As long as it’s reasonably clean that’s fine.

We have Karndean as well it takes up to two days as Treebee said. We've had a bit of the floor pop and had a specialist round to talk about fixing it. He said they just wash their own Karndean with water and never bother to strip back or polish smile

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I’ve recently bought another batch of the Amtico products but when they’ve gone, I’ll be trying these ideas for sure.
