Tick! Or do I mean X? smile

Charleygirl Thu 07-May-15 08:14:09

I sent my postal vote over a week ago but I doubt if it will make any difference.

NfkDumpling Thu 07-May-15 08:15:45

Postally voted. On the One Show last night they said it was ok to use a tick or a cross - or a smiley face. I wish I'd known that last week!

Not yet, will do this evening then will try to stay awake but will probably set the alarm for about 2 am to watch the results come in.

DH has my proxy vote - ' greater trust has no woman....'

Mamardoit Thu 07-May-15 08:28:35

I will vote this evening. Three young men in this house are voting in their first general election. One was really keen. He walked down just after 7am. Naughty lad lied to the chap with the blue rosette when he asked how he had voted.

Postal vote here, but no doubt George O will walk it.

Posted votes ages ago. Be glad when it's over.

I went to vote on my way home from work. The polling station was surprisingly busy for a small town. They had had 55 voters through the door in 35 minutes!

Yes Postal vote a week ago.

Ditto

We will stroll over together later this morning- MP is a foregone conclusion but the local council election could be interesting and I'm interested in them having had a very good meeting re the charity I'm on yesterday.

rosequartz Thu 07-May-15 09:14:46

I thought anything but a X was a spoiled ballot paper.

ginny Thu 07-May-15 09:15:18

I've voted. Popped down straight after breakfast.

vegasmags Thu 07-May-15 09:17:44

I am picking up DD and DGD from the station at noon, so will cast my vote then.

Ariadne Thu 07-May-15 09:18:23

This is a safe Conservative seat, unless UKIP, heaven forbid, get in. But the council elections are more open, I think.

They put up a little polling station at the top of our road - all very convenient! So now that it has stopped raining, I'll wander up there. In a minute or two....

vampirequeen Thu 07-May-15 09:41:29

Voted by 7.15. 11 had voted by then which is pretty good going around here. Very complicated though. Three voting papers in different colours and different numbers of candidates and parties on each one. Dyslexic DH had problems so I reckon others will.

whitewave Thu 07-May-15 13:11:13

Just about to clean my teeth and potter down to vote.

tanith Thu 07-May-15 13:20:02

We just got back from nipping to the library to vote, I was very surprised when OH said he'd come with me as he refused to vote in the last two elections (whats the point they are all the same) , when we came out I said I bet you just spoilt your ballot paper , he said no I just voted for the one whose name I liked angry. He did wink as he said it grin.

Teetime Thu 07-May-15 13:20:09

Yep done it- three blue rosettes and one orange one at the door. Us reds stay well hidden in Melton Mowbray. smile

whitewave Thu 07-May-15 13:34:05

We were just saying haven't heard anyone going around with loud hailers - don't they do that any more?

merlotgran Thu 07-May-15 13:37:36

We've just got back. We had district and parish elections as well so the village hall was quite busy. Much nattering and catching up.

DH forgot his glasses. 'Oh that doesn't matter,' said the woman on the desk. 'We have a magnifying glass for idiots people like you!' grin

FlicketyB Thu 07-May-15 13:47:57

Just done it. Polling clerk said there had been a steady flow of people coming through all day and I could see that all the ballot boxes were quite full.

GrannyTwice Thu 07-May-15 13:48:50

I remember the loud hailers...... I was once a candidate and I thunk I recall that if a mark was made clearly inside the box and there were no words or names, then it counted. But all the candidates had to agree - I did see some naughty words
