you perhaps should listen to it again- the only reason Marr interrupted is because Johnson did NOT answer the questions, and went on a pre-prepared rant and attack instead- which is designed to stop more questions being asked, that he does not want to be asked, or answered, for that matter.

Oh give over! Corbyn has been blathering about cuts to the probation service today and trying to pin the blame on that ( when it has zilch to do with the probation service.)
I find that more offensive than Johnson saying terrorists should serve longer in prison.

Just watched Marr and Johnson on iplayer. Johnson was a shambles. I really despair that some people have such low standards that they could actually vote for this man.

The tories have been in power for over nine years and yet they still hide behind the Labour Party and mindlessly blame them for their own shortcomings. Just how low are they prepared to go? If they’d have wanted to change the sentencing policy they have had plenty of time to do that. We know Johnson is a liar and his supporters must know that too they obviously don’t care.

It doesn't 'have zilch to do with the probation service", it's closely linked to the devastation to the Probation Service caused by the Conservatives. It's in the process of being taken back into public ownership because the attempt to privatise, ie make it into a profit making business, has failed spectacularly.

WE had a good Probation Service. One of its many roles was to work with offenders during their prison sentence. It was called "thoroughfare', I remember studying the course during my training in the late 70's early 80's.' The service had a proud history and the mantra "to advise, assist and befriend" underpinned its work.

On a separate point, we have significant problems in our prisons with radicalised groups of offenders. We have cat A prisons where some groups operate with little control. Slash and burn the criminal justice system, then blame a previous government for something it did 10 years ago.

I read today that the terrorist on London Bridge had to be allowed out of prison and that the probation service wasn’t involved because they didn’t need to be.
Therefore, it had nothing to do with this particular case.

Further to that, even if the Conservatives had changed the law around this ( that the LP brought in) this particular man was charged years ago, and would still have been allowed out on license.

Varian, of course he’s willing to be interviewed by Andrew Neil, how could you doubt him for a minute!
It’s a dreadful shame that the important business of ‘ getting Brexit done’, so our instantly improved economy ( no need for a tiresome transition period) will be able to provide the billions he’s going to use to improve absolutely everything, will make an interview logistically impossible!

Am all for blame being apportioned when it’s correct, but it does sound that according to laws made in the past when he was charged, nothing could have prevented his release from prison.

Marr should have asked about this. God it never stops does it.

I’m beginning to think that Johnson could sit biting the heads off kittens he would still get some people willing to support him.

The woman on Marr this morning ( Northern, fair hair) reviewing the papers, said much the same, that when knocking on doors, lifelong LP supporters were saying they will now vote Conservative or anything else as they just cannot bring themselves to vote for Corbyn.
The LP made a massive mistake in voting to make him leader.

This place is becoming more like a primary school playground, complete with silly tit for tat arguments, bullies, snitches and people who can't discuss.

I thought this would be a site for more mature and reasoned argument.
