.......anyone see his interview on the news? His insanity must now be obvious to all - surely no-one will vote for him? Just not possible............

I cannot understand why in such a vast country Trump and Biden are the supposedly the best candidates available for the most important job ????????

Callistemon Wed 05-Aug-20 09:53:50

Me neither GrannyGravy

But I said before than anyone with a modicum of intelligence or common sense would not want the job.

Trump is indeed a narcissist, a bully who promised to behave as President in the way he did as a "businessman". As Elegran says, he failed in business, losing his inheritance and ruining people who backed him. His behaviour as President threatens to ruin the country that backed him.
Is he developing dementia? His inability to cope with a polite interviewer, his bluster and confused look are reminiscent of people in his age group where close friends and family ask each other 'have you noticed... do you think we should get him to see a doctor?" His use of vocabulary is diminishing. Another sign of dementia.

He seems to be losing support from some women and it's a mystery to me how the sensible Republicans can continue to deny they have a significant problem.

Well grannygravy13 we have Bojo......can you expain that?

tanith Wed 05-Aug-20 10:14:07

I don’t think there was one sentence he spoke during that interview that wasn’t nonsensical. Why doesn’t someone actually say to him Mr President your talking absolute rubbish you’re not making any sense I don’t understand your gibberish.

The problems of America can be traced back to the to 1971 when president Nixon visited China. Nixon was aware that China could provide an end to the Vietnam war which was tearing the United States apart.

Along with the above Nixon believed that if China could be encouraged to leave it's then isolation and become democratic, Amerian industry would be able to sell into that huge population and large profits would be made.

However, the American manufacturing industry over the years has moved it's production to China leaving large areas of the United States impoverished and without well paid employment.

Trump.promised to return that manufacturing and wealth to American shores and that in may ways secured his victory.

Make America Great Again rang well in the rust belt states and very many other American households throughout the United States.

He won on a single issue get brexit done
after four years of gridlock in parliament and unfruitful negotiations between UK and EU.

I watched that interview in the early hours this morning. What surprised me was the speed with which he answered most of the questions. What he said was garbled nonsense but he responded fairly quickly.

After reading that the test he took, of which he was so proud, was apparently one given to possible dementia sufferers, I was expecting more signs of dementia. Perhaps someone slipped him a little something before the interview.

I remember in the early days of my mother's dementia she could not have made head nor tail of complex questions similar to those posed to Trump.

I note that a couple of people have commented upon Trump's "business acumen". (This is not a dig at them) . His loss of his father's fortune and subsequent losses have been in the public domain for many years. Yet, in the run up to the election and afterwards, many posters on here and elsewhere have pointed this out, only to be accused of spreading fake news. Peoples' attitude towards Trump are now changing but it's a pity that they didn't take more notice of the criticisms in the beginning.

Apricity Wed 05-Aug-20 10:55:33

What do you mean 'Trump has finally lost it?' He never had 'it' to start with.

jaylucy Wed 05-Aug-20 10:58:13

OMG a classic case of brain and mouth being totally disconnected and it's worrying, to say the least , to think that he believes whatever he spouts!
Mind you, everytime I see this man I spend more time wondering about the tide mark for his make up / fake tan , how much hairspray he uses and has no one told him that if he really wants to look tanned that he should not forget to do the backs of his hands?

Thankyou barmeyoldbat ?.
I must admit two things have stuck in my mind this week. The first was Trumps boasting of passing his very hard test(for dementia). The second was a video of Boris Johnson at a school. He was sat at a table and painted a ladybird. I watched it several times. It's his expression of pure joy and pride. Its impossible to look at him and view him as anything other than a four year old in a mans body. I watched it several times because I couldnt make sense of quite how I was feeling. A year ago I would probably find it a bit pathetic and quite funny,in some ways it still is. I also find it very disturbing. If you havent seen it have a look. For me it peels away all the layers and shows in no uncertain terms who we are placing our trust in(or not!)

Gwenisgreat1 Wed 05-Aug-20 11:59:40

Watching your link Grannynannywanny, confirms my suspicions of him. He is not an adult, or capable of being an adult (apart from reproduction). He's an overgrown 2 year old toddler, who stamps his feet metaphorically if he doesn't get his own way. To have that in charge of the USA is terrifying. When will those across the pond see that and find a grown up for president!

More fool us for voting for him. That single issue is turning into a nightmare of incompetence and chaos.

lemongrove Wed 05-Aug-20 12:04:54

Dorset there is simply no comparison ( Trump/Johnson)
All the video will show is that Johnson enjoys a bit of art!
Four year olds don’t usually do well at Eton and then gaining a degree at Oxford.
Trump isn’t intelligent at all ( it would be a redeeming feature if he was.)
We must all send up a few prayers that Biden will be the next
President.

quizqueen Wed 05-Aug-20 12:10:16

Biden is equally as bad, if you listen to him, but Donald has a very good Vice President, whereas Biden says he will just chose a woman as his running mate. You know, anyone will do as long as it's a woman, instead of the best person for the role!

travelsafar Wed 05-Aug-20 12:13:23

I had to turn it off!!! Goodness knows how the young man continued. Might try again later to listen to it fully.

Dorsetcupcake61 Wed 05-Aug-20 12:26:21

Lemongrove there is indeed no arguing with Boris Johnsons academic ability, although if you cant do well at Eton with the tremendous privilege and input that involves there is probably little hope for you. I think it's also debatable that being able to negotiate the academic system makes you in any way a suitable person for such a powerful position. Boris Johnson is a product of the environment he was born in. Education aside I would say Trump and Johnson personality wise I very similar. Both lacking emotional intelligence ,a sound moral base and lacking in compassion for anyone outside their immediate experience. They both thrive on having their egos boosted, show little respect for women, are racist. Both can also be incredibly charming when needed but when challenged revert to buffonery/ tantrums/ insults. Other than that not a lot in common!

Grannynannywanny Wed 05-Aug-20 12:33:16

I thought the journalist was excellent in the way he persisted with his questioning. His facial expressions were hilarious. I was surprised Trump sat through it. But then again he is so deluded he probably thought he was coming out on top.

Lesley60 Wed 05-Aug-20 12:33:43

I would have to question the sanity of people who vote for this dangerous idiot, I think it’s only the racist and redneck votes he must be getting as they are obviously as nuts as he is.
Why don’t the people in power do something about him he is making America a joke.

Grannynannywanny Wed 05-Aug-20 12:40:40

I think we only have to look at the news clips of his devotees when they gather at his rallies to see the calibre of his voters.
Out on the streets with assault rifles protesting about infringement of their civil liberties due to covid etc

Iam64 Wed 05-Aug-20 12:46:50

Tammy Duckworth is one of the individuals being considered to run as potential VicePresident with Joe Biden. She is a decorated war veteran and viewed as a hero by many.
She cannot be dismissed as anyone as long as its a woman.

I've seen a number of Democrat congresswoman who make Donald Trump look incompetent and unfit for office. I'm pleased that Biden is ensuring he considers women as well as men as potential running mates.

sodapop Wed 05-Aug-20 12:58:40

We were talking to an American friend yesterday and though he hates Trump with a vengeance he is not hopeful of Biden either. Out of the frying pan etc.

Tweedle24 Wed 05-Aug-20 13:34:41

tanith It would take a brave person to tell Donald that he is talking nonsense. Those who have done have soon lost their jobs and careers

Jabberwok Wed 05-Aug-20 13:46:57

Both these men are well into their 70's, Biden is 78!!!? Surely to God there must be someone, somewhere in the whole of the USA that is suitable and YOUNGER!!!!?
