Displayed behind him are certain well chosen titles! The Subtle Knife, Fahrenheit 451, Glass Houses, The Toll, Guards Guards, The Twits and so on!

Oops! I should have said at age 11, reading ages span from 7 - 14.

Obviously, they'll be higher in older age groups.

A further observation about Roald Dahl, one of my favourite children's authors, is that he actually wrote the following, in his day ........

"I couldn’t vote for the SDP because I never vote for renegades. Labour are wafflers and weak and not particularly honest. There is one thing you can say about Conservatives and that is that they are honourable people and tough; they’ve got some guts."

There is some irony here.

Roald Dahl is a totally politically incorrect writer, which is one of the reasons children love him.

I doubt if any child is remotely interested in Dahl's party politics.

Just how long ago was it that Roald Dahl wrote that the Conservatives are honourable people?

I said "in his day" varian, so if you look at his dates, probably The Thatcher era then.

PS he also wrote he hated teachers! The kids always love that! grin
