Have you ever seen such an example of hopeless squirming embarrassment as Boris Johnson's pathetic performance?
Well done, Ed Miliband for showing BJ as a useless apology for a PM!

paddyanne Mon 14-Sep-20 21:57:33

Oh dear quizqueenwestminster reckons Scotland costs them 5 billion a year MORE than the EU ...maybe they should evict us from the DIS united kingdom? Go on think how much better off you'll be ?

Or are WM telling lies about that too ?

Just watching SKY news in HoC. For those that say Milliband bested Boris, it’s a joy to listen to Gove excoriating Milliband. Gove is one of our top negotiators and he’s patiently explaining the reasoning behind this Bill to Milliband, who, to give him credit, is smiling widely at his teachings.

Gove also firmly put Ian Blackford in his place. Used a joke too (ref John Lewis ‘never knowingly under-something or other) which actually made Blackford laugh out loud! Joanna Cherry QC looked furious and sulky.

Go Gove!

Milliband was spectacular, I even started to feel sorry and embarrassed for Johnson, he just looked so completely out of his depth, it was painful to watch.

NotSpaghetti Mon 14-Sep-20 22:07:39

Miliband was a great listen, it's true. Sadly, as Urm says, Johnson will force it through as he has numbers.

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:09:26

Well if you say so Urm your political judgement is always so sound and your posts so accurate

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:11:04

It’ll go through because the Tories are a bunch of totally dishonourable nodding donkeys.

Alegrias Mon 14-Sep-20 22:11:19

Being excoriated by Gove must be a bit like being savaged by the proverbial dead sheep....

Urmstongran Mon 14-Sep-20 22:13:57

No Alegrias he’s smart, on top of his brief and regards the negotiations really does know his onions ... boiled or fried.
?

Alegrias Mon 14-Sep-20 22:14:40

Sorry, are we talking about the same person ?

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:15:42

Urm as ever in the land of political fantasy

Any minute now, we’ll be told that the testing failure is a figment of our imaginations and that Johnson has got it all sorted

Urmstongran Mon 14-Sep-20 22:28:36

Labour’s amendment to block 2nd reading has failed.

Urmstongran Mon 14-Sep-20 22:29:46

Covid testing isn’t the topic here sw but nice try.

Urmstongran Mon 14-Sep-20 22:31:56

Seems the government has a majority of 77! Bingo.

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:32:07

Gosh golly golly gosh the amendment failed? Good Lord - how did that happen? I’m staggered I tell you staggered. Is today Monday ?

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:33:11

Ditto for the substantive vote - knock me down with a feather

Jaberwok Mon 14-Sep-20 22:34:12

Ed Milliband!! All that indignation but not an alternative suggestion to be heard! No change there! Pathetic man! As for Blackford ?!!! I know paddyann perhaps we in England could demand an independence referendum from the Union, and then the rest of you can just get on with it! Freedom from the EU and the union, now there's a thought! Bring it on! (The Shetlands and Orkney can stay if they want, go to Scandinavia, or have total independence, it would be their choice as they don't seem too keen on Scotland!)

Alegrias Mon 14-Sep-20 22:36:53

Parcel of rogues. That's us a failed state then.

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:39:56

I rather thought the alternative was the oven ready deal the GE was fought on? Anyway in the morning we will have the most disgraceful incompetent dishonourable Government in our lifetime and the testing system will still be a massive fail and the pandemic will still be here and economic disaster will still be just around the corner. But hey the government won tonight - let’s party ( in groups of no more than 6 of course)

MaizieD Mon 14-Sep-20 22:41:58

Ed Milliband!! All that indignation but not an alternative suggestion to be heard!

What is really sad, Jabberwok is that our country has been shafted by people like you who have absolutely no idea of how the parliamentary process works.

How very bl**dy patriotic to become overjoyed at the though of the UK becoming a rogue state that no other country will touch with a bargepole because we can't be trusted to stick to our word and not break international law.

JenniferEccles Mon 14-Sep-20 22:42:01

Good result!
Boris means business!

suziewoozie Mon 14-Sep-20 22:47:32

Tonight was not a victory - of course the Govt won -and as I said, absolutely nothing will be any better in the morning ( and some things will be worse)

paddyanne Mon 14-Sep-20 22:52:59

Will the Lords pass it though?

paddyanne Mon 14-Sep-20 22:54:49

Please doJABBERWOK I look forward to it and the surprise the English public gets when it realises WHO pays their bills and it aint them !!
