What ever happened to the oven ready deal?
Oh Mr Johnson what shall I do?
You promised us an exit deal
Now it seems it wasn't true
Take us back to the EU
As quickly as you can
Oh Mr Johnson you're a very naughty man!
More verses welcome ! Or other appropriae jingles!

paddyanne Fri 11-Dec-20 11:24:21

Seems his tactics at dinner were to insult both the French and Germans and think he was being funny. From the start when he told UVL that Barnier should be sacked because he wasn't "up to the job" and appeared amused when told Barnier is very well respected.
This comes from someone who was at a pre dinner drinks event and passed the exact comments on to a friend of mine who works in Brussels
Bojo is a clown ,a dangerous clown who has no thought for anyone but himself and his rich buddies .Sadly England put their faith in a fool

trisher Fri 11-Dec-20 11:27:43

OMG that is so awful but entirely believable. You can just imagine him!

MaizieD Fri 11-Dec-20 11:39:15

According to a twitter post, he also joked about the Germans and the British not liking the French.

Is your 'friend of a friend' comment absolutely god's honest truth, padyanne?

(Not that I really doubt you. It sounds about right!)

Sorry, trisher, no verse, feeling more angry than creative about all this grin

The idiot has now suggested that he meets up separately with the German and French heads of state.

He just doesn’t get it.

In a way I am beginning to think that he is worse than Trump with the damage he is inflicting on his country.

Greta Fri 11-Dec-20 12:04:14

Boris Johnson has changed his tune then. Not so long ago he said this “There is no plan for no deal because we are going to get a great deal.”

Violettham Fri 11-Dec-20 12:07:12

Paddyanne Agree

Blinko Fri 11-Dec-20 12:07:22

Just when they are desperately needed, we have a PM with NO diplomacy skills. Afraid we really are doomed!

Fennel Fri 11-Dec-20 12:35:00

Remember when he was Sec. of state for Foreign Affairs? He fell out with other states quite a few times then due to his lack of tact/ diplomacy.

EllanVannin Fri 11-Dec-20 12:52:25

Whatever made BJ think that we can do without the EU ? I'm surprised that a so-called educated individual didn't have the forethought how things would turn out.
Then again, none of the ministers are known for their forward thinking whatever position they hold. What a big big mistake.

Nezumi65 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:18:43

It's always been the plan. I have been expecting No Deal for the past year, it's why I haven't removed by black dot from next to my twitter bio.

Johnson was bought. bylinetimes.com/2019/09/11/brexit-disaster-capitalism-8-billion-bet-on-no-deal-crash-out-by-boris-johnsons-leave-backers/

JenniferEccles Fri 11-Dec-20 13:24:02

Are we expected to accept just any deal then?
Remember what the PM said about the deal on offer being one no Prime Minister would accept.

I hope he holds firm.

BTW I think the ‘oven ready’ deal was the withdrawal agreement.

As regards the alleged comment- well if a friend of a friend of a GN member said it, well it must be true mustn’t it?!!

Nannan2 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:27:00

Was Boris drunk at this 'pre-dinner drinks' bash?!

Nannan2 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:28:54

Looks like EU just want it all their own way though.Theyre still trying to grab all they can, while they can from the british.?!

Nannan2 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:31:47

When we'd voted we should have just got out PDQ instead of dragging it on just cause the conservative 'leaders' couldn't hack it.Remember Boris was'nt in power then. Now he's stuck with the aftermath.?

LauraNorder Fri 11-Dec-20 13:37:54

The ‘oven ready deal’ was the withdrawal agreement.
The EU are negotiating according to their political ideology and not for the good of their businesses or citizens.
Their terms are unacceptable to any sovereign nation.
No deal will be a great disappointment but better than acceptance of unreasonable terms.
It is pretty much done, no going back so we must now rally behind our country, stop doing ourselves down and band together in a positive way to make the UK a success.

Are you suggesting that we support Johnson!!!

Nezumi65 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:42:53

You know that a) we had sovereignty when we were in the EU and b) that trade negotiations always involve some compromise (giving up a bit of sovereignty if you like).

Never mind the billionaire backers of Johnson will get richer and the rest of us can swap our pizzas for toast and chips as advised by the Daily Mail.

vegansrock Fri 11-Dec-20 13:43:35

Well the withdrawal agreement wasn’t oven ready - it was waved through parliament without debate because IDS said uist was all plain and simple - turns out he hadn’t read it and within weeks BJ was changing it . So there’s one lie . He also said “no deal would be a failure of statesmanship”. Let’s hope someone has the cojones to remind him of that.

Nezumi65 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:44:05

And sorry I am not delusional enough to find anything positive about no deal brexit.

I’ll give an extra big cheer if I can’t get hold of my son’s medications next month though. How about that?

Whitewavemark2 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:47:38

My DHs drugs are all produced in Spain.

Nezumi65 Fri 11-Dec-20 13:50:02

Yeah my son's epilepsy meds come from France and Germany. And can't brand swap epilepsy meds without increasing the risk of SUDEP/seizures. <sigh>

Lucretzia Fri 11-Dec-20 13:51:43

I can understand concerns about medications, Nezumi65

However there was an interview at the weekend which eased my mind somewhat

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55206518

Dr June Raine is the chief executive of Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)

Nezumi65 Fri 11-Dec-20 14:07:05

I wasn't reassured by that at all. Saw her at the weekend. The reality is medicines are part of a just in time supply chain and if there are huge delays at ports (likely under the No Deal scenario) then medicines will be delayed.

The govt advice in the event of a delay due to Brexit is to brand swap. Since the government is so keen on Australia style arrangements these days they should read this from Australia on why brand swapping increases risk www.epilepsy.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Fact-Sheet-Switching-Brands.pdf

Lucretzia Fri 11-Dec-20 14:10:44

Sorry, Nezumi65

There are plans to fly in medicines if there's massive queues.

There's massive queues right now actually

Nothing to do with Brexit though
