Who is paying for it then?

Boris Johnson’s spokesman repeatedly refused on Monday to confirm who has paid for Boris Johnson’s holiday to Marbella and won't say whether the Prime Minister has paid for his own holiday or who else has funded it.

Pushed on the question, Downing Street would only say that the prime minister would disclose any donations he has received, if required to do so, at a later date.

The caginess from Johnson’s spokesman follows reports that the prime minister is currently staying at a villa owned by the Conservative peer Zac Goldsmith.

Goldsmith, who is a close friend of both Johnson and his wife, was handed a peerage by Johnson, despite having been rejected by voters three times in just four years.''

Does anyone know- how many holidays has the PM had since he became PM!

Ah yes, if kids are boarders.

I'd be very surprised that anyone wanting to rent Goldsmith's villa would be bothered about the season or school holidays.

Well you'd be surprised. People who pay £30.000 +++ for top private schools just don't take kids out of school for holidays!

No, but they could go away by themselves during term time...

Just had a peek at the website. The villa looks quite nice. No plastic outdoor chairs - always a good sign.

?
Rather classy then.

Perhaps we could book it for a Gransnet meetup.
Free of charge otherwise we'll give it bad reviews.

Whilst he is away , i would guess, we are all paying for his security detail, who will have jetted out with him. So yes it should concern us all who is paying for this, and what influences they are having on policy, another member of the Goldsmith family today, not being supportive of the covid lockdowns/protections we had in place last year, I suspect this effects the families wealth with offices being empty.

Seen today:

How it works:

Goldsmith loses seat in Commons

Johnson gives him a seat in the Lords

Goldsmith owns very nice villa in Spain

Johnson ah thank you very much

I think it's precised as
"You scratch my back and I'll scratch yours".

It has happened since time immemorial.

Who funds the Conservative party?

The Pandora papers show that huge sums of money from individuals, with links to corruption scandals, have found their way into our political system.

One example is Mohamed Amersi, who was allegedly involved in one of Europe’s biggest corruption scandals, and has donated £525,000 to the Conservative Party since 2018.

Also, 34 Conservative MPs have received donations from Aquind, a company backed by Viktor Fedotov, who, it is claimed, made millions from an allegedly corrupt Russian pipeline deal.

This is not a good look for our democracy.

Maybe he took a holiday to avoid the fallout from today's revelations about the Governments handling of Covid. 'He has given himself time to think of some answers and not been personally accosted and will not be at P.M. questions time tomorrow.
I pity who stands in for him when Keir Starmer gets going

Kali2 Tue 12-Oct-21 18:00:07

And the relevance is .... ?

Josianne Tue 12-Oct-21 17:44:04

It is currently half term holiday in several European countries, and Goldsmith rents it for £15.000 a week.
Well that just goes to show that other European families are dafter than our own PM if they are paying that kind of money! Zac can't be doing mates rates for them too or the poor guy would be out of pocket.

@Lucca. Boris’s supporters should take heart - he obviously doesn’t collapse into bed exhausted EVERY night does he ? ?

Oh dear, totally unwanted image.

Sorry - you can’t unsee it now can you ?!!?

MaizieD Tue 12-Oct-21 17:41:00

He has been through a lot and possibly will comeback refreshed enough to do a better job?

That was sarcasm, wasn't it?

Josianne Tue 12-Oct-21 17:38:08

Josianne, why would it be standing idle? It is currently half term holiday in several European countries, and Goldsmith rents it for £15.000 a week.
have you got a link to it on a holiday website please Kali2? I am interested, (not in hiring it though).

Lucca Tue 12-Oct-21 17:36:25

Are posts now being delete just because they’re a silly question ?…..a bit OTT surely

I like a lot of people have had some trauma recently and am going away soon. So looking forward to some time off away from my very busy job. Retiring in a month too and am counting the days.

Yes any poster from anywhere can post on this forum but why if you live in Switzerland are you bothered about Boris?

Because maybe you have children and grandchildren in the UK?

Maybe because she is British. Not that it makes an iota of difference. I have opinions about other leaders and their actions.

I’m not American but I was definitely bothered about Trump!!
