The third post in mentioned the other dignitaries included the PM.
You can’t dictate what is discussed on a thread, it doesn’t work like that.
It’s hardly controversial to mention the PM when he was at the event in the opening post.

Actually, and it is only my opinion, I think Meghan looks pretty awful most of the time. Her clothes never fit her properly and often look too big.
As I said, just my opinion.

maddyone

Fanny smile

Thank you! I don’t want to fall out. Especially about Johnson of all people! smilethanks

FannyCornforth Wed 18-May-22 08:24:06

To paraphrase Basil Fawlty;

‘Don’t mention Meghan!!
I did it once , but I think I got away with it!’

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 08:25:21

I did see the Queen at the tube yesterday, not personally of course, just on the television, but I missed the others who are in the photograph. I’ve only seen that today on here.

Naw- bags of doodoo have a bit of shape and style to them. Plus they're good for the garden.

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 08:27:11

Fanny I love that episode of Fawlty Towers. In fact I loved them all. Sadly I think it would be deemed unsuitable these days.

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 08:28:01

Said in jest about Meghan, but very true grin

Urmstongran Wed 18-May-22 08:28:22

In the Telegraph today from yesterday’s visit to open the new Crossrail Line named after her at Paddington Station. I think she looks absolutely radiant! Her smile reaches her eyes these days. I think although she’s sad about Prince Philip no longer with her, that worry and anxiety over his health issues has been lifted from her shoulders. She’s had Covid and now looks so well.

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 08:33:03

Has anyone noticed that Meghan, Catherine, and some other famous people are wearing those wide leg trousers actually sweeping the floor at the moment. They must be filthy when they get home. Especially if they’re white like the ill fitting trouser suit Meghan wore at the Invictus Games. The Queen will never get away with it however fashionable it might be. She’d fall over, and so would I.
I think that’s a fashion trend I shall give a miss to.

FannyCornforth Wed 18-May-22 08:40:01

It’s a look only the very rich can get away with as practicalities don’t need to be considered.

FannyCornforth Wed 18-May-22 08:42:11

Fennel

I loved the colour of her outfit Apricot?

Nooo!
It’s buttercup yellow.
Apricot is pale orangey pink.
Or pinky orange..?

sodapop Wed 18-May-22 08:43:07

The Queen looked lovely in her yellow outfit I thought and very happy. I hope she continues to opt for occasions she enjoys and leaves the rest of the family to do the other less enjoyable ones.
Buffyfly I expect Boris does his own thing regardless of Carrie. I don't tell my husband what to wear or how to cut his hair etc.

Anniebach Wed 18-May-22 08:57:46

Mocking Boris reminds me of the mocking of Michael Foot

FannyCornforth Wed 18-May-22 09:01:30

I would never have mocked Mr Foot.
And I know all about the ‘donkey jacket’ that never was.
It was more along the lines of what Corbyn got treated to in my opinion.
Whereas Johnson seems to get away with it. He doesn’t even look clean these days

Anniebach Wed 18-May-22 09:11:27

But Johnson hasn’t got away with it on this thread and no
comparison with Corbyn and Michael. Corbyn chose his clothes, Michael wore smart clothes but his disability caused him to look he was wearing scruffy clothes.

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 09:14:13

I agree that BJ looks extremely untidy (that’s my polite way of putting it grin) but my sympathies go to Carrie because my husband often looks extremely untidy. He says he’s working in the garden which is true. He scrubs up well when he makes the effort. It’s the making the effort which is the problem. I’m not sure that whatever Carrie said would make any difference. She always looks nice though.

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 09:18:15

I noticed that Corbyn tidied himself up after he became party leader. I didn’t have a problem with Michael Foot’s way of dressing. I shouldn’t say it but I did think it funny when Neil Kinnock fell in the sea wearing a beautiful suit. That was very unkind of me I think.

FannyCornforth Wed 18-May-22 09:18:47

Maddy I often wonder if it’s a cry for help.
Having followed Johnson for a long time and read Tom Bower’s biography, I am convinced that he is psychologically highly damaged.

Also having read about small boys and public schools, ditto Eton.

I despise him, but also feel deeply sorry for him.
He should never have become PM.

maddyone Wed 18-May-22 09:27:40

Fanny you could well be right. I don’t know that much about it but I believe BJ’s upbringing was difficult. I think his mother was very ill with poor mental health (did she have a complete breakdown?) and his father had affairs and then they divorced? Very damaging for the children. The other children seem to have fared better, but who knows? BJ was a very bright lad who won a scholarship to Eton I believe, but public schools weren’t as they are now. I’m sure he’s flawed, but who isn’t? I am, very flawed, but then I’m not PM.

Joseanne Wed 18-May-22 09:33:46

Also having read about small boys and public schools I am convinced that he is psychologically highly damaged.
I'm not sure that public schools set out to cause harm and distress to their pupils! The majority turn out just fine.

FannyCornforth Wed 18-May-22 09:40:18

Sorry, Joseanne, I was referring to boarding schools ; not public schools.
I should have been more clear. Apologies

Riverwalk

The photo of Khan, Shapps & Johnson made me laugh! Khan looks half asleep, Shapps like Elon Musk, and as for Bozo...

I shall taken myself for a ride on the Elizabeth Line when it opens to the public which I think is next week smile Using my Freedom Pass of course.

That photo looks like a version of the three wise monkeys, only cut out the "wise"
And we have Khan holding his knees- "Not me"
Shap protecting his genitals "Nor Me"
and Bojo holding forth- "Well it might be me but you can't prove it"

lemsip Wed 18-May-22 09:48:27

good post Maddyone I have read all about his life.
