What phrases/sayings/words drive you mad? Mine are:

No problem
At the end of the day
Can't get my head around it
Showcasing (eg. she's showcasing her slim figure/dress/new style)

Have a nice day. (No thank you, I have other plans)

'What have you been doing today?' at the checkout. What's wrong with 'How are you?' which is much easier to answer and feels less intrusive.

'The overnight period' on weather forecasts.

Plus most of the above. Grumpy old women unite!

"If it was me..." right along with "Oh, you're not like me!"
I hear those two ALL the time, every day.

"Don't get me started on..." I want to say, "well I don't have to because you've already started on it yourself" hmm

MissAdventure Wed 23-Jan-19 17:47:36

Oh I've just thought of one.
Its when people are telling you something and say things like "Honestly, you can ask my brother..."when you have never even met their brother and he lives in Timbuktu.

"He/she smashed it"
"whatever...."
He/she is on a "journey"
"don't worry, he's very friendly" just as the flamin dog has a go at mine who went up to said dog wagging his tail sad

Lynne59 Wed 23-Jan-19 19:34:47

I agree with all of those, apart from "must have"....(I know some people say "must OF" and that irritates me beyond belief)

I'm just saying ....

It's a given

Popping out. (Just go, for heaven's sake. No need for explosive sounds)

Cuppa

"And he goes...." instead of "he said"

The worst ones for me as others have said
At the end of the day
Lessons will be learned
My hubby

Tangerine Wed 23-Jan-19 21:34:43

"yer know what I mean"

Patsy70 Wed 23-Jan-19 22:13:25

Haitch
Fed up of (instead of with)
My heart goes out to you

and many more already mentioned!

When someone says 'at the end of the day'.... my husband says quickly... "it's midnight". !!

People who I would of or I could of . My English teacher will be turning in her grave. She would have asked them to conjugate the verb that included of!

Sckedule instead of Schedule, unless of course you are from the USA.

LullyDully Thu 24-Jan-19 08:12:50

Singing from the same hymn sheet.

So......

Crashing out of Europe.

Myself used incorrectly to sound posh.

In fact I loathe so many of the cliches listed above that I must be getting old and grumpy.

Can I add

Putting my stamp on it
Light flooding in
(Home renovation programmes are full of these!)
Moving forward
For free
So fun

I now find myself - sounding very much like my father - shouting at the tv.

Bathsheba Thu 24-Jan-19 09:20:59

Oh and talking of home renovation programmes katek, what about when they say “oh this is a lovely space”. It’s a room, for heaven’s sake, not a ‘space’ ?

Bathsheba Thu 24-Jan-19 09:22:07

Sorry, Katek, with a capital K ?

AdeleJay Thu 24-Jan-19 09:58:40

I hate
I'm just saying
and the worst one
I call a spade a spade
both seem to mean they are right and your wrong or just another way of being rude.

sylviann Thu 24-Jan-19 10:03:58

Whatever
Well actually
As a matter of fact

Shortlegs Thu 24-Jan-19 10:03:59

"The proof is in the pudding" and the recent habit of writing "Should of" instead of "Should have".

Miep1 Thu 24-Jan-19 10:06:33

Very unique
Extremely minute and other imponderables along the same lines
Passed instead of died
'Like' every second word
Can I get...(no, you may not)
Fab-u-loss! (Yes, I know)
"So I said...and he said '....' So I said" etc.
Plus all of the above
And finally we come to ...

LadyGracie Thu 24-Jan-19 10:09:20

Suck it and see

nannypiano Thu 24-Jan-19 10:09:31

"Without a word of a lie " .....
