Help, very thick bushy frizzy hair.... At a loss what to do.

Sorry for the essay ....The title says it all really. It was dark brown with grey, I've gradually had done dark blond/caramel highlights to blend grey, as dark brown not flattering for my skin now.

It looks awful, one big mass of frizzy, wavy hair, have tried expensive shampoos, products. Coconut oil applied at night gives it good condition, but still a mess style wise.

I have grown it to just on shoulder. I can never blow dry out straighten it to look nice, like the hairdresser does.

It is mostly one length, she said the weight would make it less bushy. Maybe it needs to be a bit longer?

She does thin it, not sure of that helps long-term. Someone said I have Italian type hair.

I don't like it short on me, I am overweight and it makes me feel unfeminine, a helmet of hair, and I then have to wash it every day to give it some bounce.

I wondered about a couple of long layers, hairdresser now don't seem to do layer cuts the same way.

Any ideas please? Just a faint hope that one of you may have similar hair. I know I'm "" lucky"" to have thick hair, but it's really not easy.

I would love a wash and go style, I want to go with my wavy hair, if only it wasn't so bushy. Thanks

I use rollers, hair straighteners and heat protector and a wide tooth comb...and it works for me. Much easier than trying to blow dry it straight. I wash my hair, spray it with heat protector, dry it freestyle (gently) then I use more heat protector and straightners ...by piling my hair up and doing it in sections doing the underneath first. Once done, if needed I comb my hair and insert rollers and leave in for as long as I can. Make sure you use the biggest rollers you can find, as I once used the wrong size and they got tangled in my hair and had to have some cut out!! I always do this 2 days before an event so it has time to calm down. But I do use the straightners every morning just to "re-shape". It sounds lengthy but it takes less than 5 minutes every morning.
Trial and error, but nothing is impossible...you will get there.

I used to struggle with my hair (thick and curly) and I find that drying it at the same time as brushing it helps to tame it. This is something that I have only found out recently (why did it take me nigh on 60 years ?) and it's not fool-proof but not such a struggle. I use an ordinary hairdryer with an attachment after putting styling gel on.
Also a really good cut from a good hairdresser (needn't cost the earth) goes a long way.

I also have thick, frizzy hair. I use GHD straighteners.
They are amazing! People are always shocked when I say that my hair is not naturally straight.

I am a bit confused, always thought brushing was good for your hair, and I have a large good quality bristle round brush, suggested by a previous hairdresser, and large paddle brush.

Also have ghds, my hair is so thick, would take ages to go through all the layers and surely it can't be good to use every time?

I have had some success with wrapping before, ie brushing hair sideways round head while drying.

I'm going to keep this and try all ideas thanks!

I also have thick curly hair and any thinning it turns it into a frizzy wild mess! My saving grace is an expensive quality cut (Aveda Wimbledon) and Aveda Be Curly products ...no other product ever worked. I no longer fight the curl but use it. I spiral my hair ( chin length bob) round my fingers when wet , twisting two strands together, after adding Be Curly Curl enhancer to hair and rubbing on fingers. I leave it to dry naturally, it curls, doesn't frizz. I have to get a cut every 8 weeks otherwise all hell breaks loose!
