I saw this sweatshirt on an Asda poster and just wanted one so came home and ordered blush! I already have a black one with a silver snowflake and don't know whether I shall wear either. The GCs are growing up and are 'too cool' for frivolity so I may be the only daft one at family gatherings.
Have you been tempted to wear a festive top?

harrigran Wed 06-Dec-17 10:36:05

Never been tempted.

We’ve all started wearing our festive tops/jumpers to work. The more garish the better. X

Blinko Wed 06-Dec-17 10:40:42

Sparkly, yes; elves or reindeer, no.

I have bought a T-shirt with a snowman on the front for wearing when cooking Christmas lunch.
Next Friday 15th December is Christmas Jumper day when everyone can wear their jumpers for work and make donations to charity.

Customise an ordinary jumper by safety-pinning bows, bells, tinsel and baubles onto it. Job done - at minimal cost.

DIL is hosting Christmas for several of us and has asked that we wear Christmas jumpers. At first I was dubious but I've got a lovely one now , I will probably never wear it again but it wasn't expensive. Should be fun

Love Christmas t-shirts. Jumpers are too hot. Wear them throughout December so get lots of use. Fun and festive, what's not to like?

Craftycat Wed 06-Dec-17 12:23:48

I'd expire in a jumper but have festive T-shirts- one with 2 strategically placed large puds & the motto 'Hands off my puds' & the other a tasteful bunch of mistletoe.

I love them!

GrammaH Wed 06-Dec-17 12:31:07

Absolutely not!!

I can't stand anything woolly next to my skin, hence buying a sweatshirt. I do also have a home-decorated T shirt which I wear to aerobic classes at Christmas and when in a hot kitchen. The motif is made from felt so it needs careful hand washing, but it has survived for several years.

My aunt always bought a jumper each for my mum, my daughter, and I. Always the wrong size, always sparkly, usually with huge shoulder pads and lots of embroidery. We loved wearing them!

I don't wear jumpers when I visit my sister at Christmas as the heating is too high - I'd be sweltering. As usual, I'll wear my long sleeved white embroidered loose fitting top.
As I've managed to lose weight I hope that I don't look like the over-stuffed sausage that I felt I resembled last year.

They're fun , and cheery, so wear what you like☺

Ho ho ho ! bought one a few years back ...so pro rata number of outings versus cost = even ! LOVE IT ! the more garish the better ! I wear mine out shopping and for lunch and coffee ....the little children love it and the cafe owner wants one .......not many people wear them here in France (unless in private between consenting adults !) but I think if they bring a smile to someone's face then PLEASE DO ! there is enough doom and gloom in the world ! Mine is bright red with Rudolph and an illuminated nose in the middle and snow all round ! It wasn't expensive, but I dread the year when it no longer fits ! Some people here in France do wear a more restrained version ...plain colour with a few snow flakes ...which is just as nice ! Merry Christmas Jumper Day ! [christmas]

You're not on your own bluebell- love xmas but not those jerseys.

Lilylilo Wed 06-Dec-17 17:04:07

Dreadful things!

Smithy Wed 06-Dec-17 17:46:47

Agree Blinko, love sparkly but not reindeers, puds etc. However, if needs must and you don't want to be a party pooper, Rowan tree s idea of adding decoration to a plain jumper is a great one, ( maybe suits the scrooge in me!)

granfromafar Wed 06-Dec-17 17:50:24

Not something I would have worn but a few years ago, younger son bought one for DH to wear at a family festive gathering. Both sons had them, so I felt left out and I chose one with a reindeer. It's quite warm so have bought a thinner one to wear this year. When we go to our GC's school carol festival every year, the children are all encouraged to wear Christmas jumpers so we don ours too. I'm a convert!

BBbevan Wed 06-Dec-17 17:59:52

Not terribly keen on animals, slogans etc on clothing, Christmas or not. I don't mind a bit of restrained sparkle. I like velvet and soft wool at Christmas .

Overthehills Wed 06-Dec-17 18:22:22

Too hot for jumpers - my temperature gauge has never been the same since the menopause - but I shall decorate a charity shop blouse or polo shirt a la Rowantree! Great idea! tchgrin

pollyperkins Wed 06-Dec-17 18:33:13

I would love a refined/subdued one - not with big pics on the front but a bit of sparkle or a few stars. Any recommendations for jumpers in the shops?
By the way why do so many of you say jumpers are too hot? I'm always COLD!

NannyTee Wed 06-Dec-17 18:36:17

My favourite is a thin cream one with small red sparkly bows dotted here and there on the front. That's from Peacocks .

nannyof4 Wed 06-Dec-17 21:06:50

Yes i have a lovely white jumper with glitter on ,i brought it from Matalan in a sale 2 years ago,was only a £5.
We had friends round one xmas eve and we all wore christmas jumpers and was a fun evening.

Maggiemaybe Wed 06-Dec-17 23:39:44

I've seen some today with flamingos on, which is a bit of a stretch of the imagination! I was tickled by one with the slogan "Gangsta Wrapper" though. grin

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 06-Dec-17 23:59:40

I'm always too hot for a jumper, so I took the plunge this year and bought a Christmas top from ASDA for £8. tchgrin
