I have never felt any desire to punch a hole anywhere in my body and consider having it done to children a form of child abuse.

I cannot understand why people do it to themselves and if I had my way people who made themselves unemployable due to piercings, tattoos etc. would disqualify themselves from unemployment benefit.

Saying that, it's your body so crack on.

Ilovecheese Wed 17-Jul-19 16:30:30

I had to look up what a tragus was, but having seen them I think it looks rather nice.
I just have one hole in each ear, done when I was over 30.

I had my ears pierced when I was 40 so that I could wear dainty earrings. Other than that I don't like to see piercings or tattoos. I'm not keen to inflict pain upon myself unnecessarily but I also prefer to see bodies unblemished. So many youngsters don't seem to appreciate their lovely skin. sad

Only my ears at 42, and they set up a reaction if it isn't gold so wouldn't dream of anywhere else, nor tattoo's either.

Willow500 Wed 17-Jul-19 17:01:32

Had my ears pierced years ago but that's all. I did have a tattoo done when I was about 40 though. My youngest son had several piercings at one time including the worst imaginable but let them grow out as he got older. Both sons have several tatts though as does one of my DIL's and eldest GD. One son's back piece is a fantastic piece of artwork but none of his are visible when he's working. The other is a musician so it goes with the job although he doesn't have them on his forearms or neck either thank goodness!

Never had anything pierced not even ears and no intent of doing so. As you can gather I don’t like piercings.

Oldandverygrey Wed 17-Jul-19 17:46:54

In answer to your question Shirley - do I like piercings - a very definite NO!

Sallywally1 Wed 17-Jul-19 17:49:43

My son, now 30, had a piercing when he was 18. This led to a serious infection, septicaemia, which in turn damaged his mitral valve. He had five hour open heart surgery to replace the valve. This will have to be repeated at some point when he will be fitted with a metal valve so will have to be on warfarin.

It broke my heart. So no, I don’t like piercings

I had my ears pieced for a bet(!) when I was in my early 20's. I rarely change my earrings, wearing the same pair of pearls 99% of the time. It was a waste of time really, although I did get my £5!

I try not to judge grin but older people with piercings & tattoo look to me like they're trying too hard to be hip & trendy and 'get down with da kids'. If it makes you happy, though, who cares what other people think?

wildswan16 Wed 17-Jul-19 18:05:50

No piercings anywhere and would never get any. I am sometimes sad when I see the lovely earrings people wear (but not sad enough to change my mind). Piercings anywhere other than ears are just gross.

fizzers Wed 17-Jul-19 18:23:12

my ear lobes have 3 piercings each, I had these done years and years ago long before it became fashionable to have more than one set of piercings, I have also got three small tattoos. My body, my choice, I'm more than happy with my decisions

Calendargirl Wed 17-Jul-19 19:06:35

Had ears pierced first when about 15, then another in each ear some years later. Very rarely wear earrings, prefer my gold sleepers. I find if I put earrings in, I can’t wear them for too long as they irritate after a while. Think the sleepers are better gold.

GabriellaG54 Wed 17-Jul-19 21:19:39

No.
Only one in each ear lobe. IMV they're trashy, like tatts.

GabriellaG54 Wed 17-Jul-19 21:23:33

I can't wear earrings with clips or posts made from nickel. Rarely wear earrings anyway and, if I do, they are small studs.

Grannybags Wed 17-Jul-19 21:27:57

Only one in each ear and only wear small studs.

I had them done aged about 15 and when my teacher saw them she called me a tart and a gypsy!!

Coolgran65 Wed 17-Jul-19 21:38:44

I have my ears pierced, done when I was 17, and have worn earrings ever since, that's 53 years. Every day I wear earrings and feel undressed without them.
They vary from my pearl studs that I wear when trying to look elegant, to my drop earrings that are usually silver boho and I love so much. Most of my earrings are of the dangly persuasion and look expensive even though some were only £3 off eBay.

Getting dressed in the morning includes putting in a pair of earrings. Rarely the same pair two days running.

DanniRae Wed 17-Jul-19 22:25:47

OMG I had no idea what your 'tragus' was until I googled it. Phew! what a relief to find it is part of your ear!!
I had my ears pierced when I left school at 16 and have never regretted it. I always have earrings in - mainly pearl studs.
My 2 daughters also have their ears pierced. I really dislike tattoos and happily no-one in my family has any - as far as I know.

Jimjam1 Wed 17-Jul-19 22:44:22

Whatever makes you happy. ? ?

CanadianGran Wed 17-Jul-19 23:23:09

Yes to pierced ears, since i was around 13. I always wear earrings, mostly small gold hoops, but lots of others to choose from!
If I ever cut my hair very short, i love the look of the upper lobe piercing and may consider it.

A few of my friends of the same age as me (late 50's) have tiny nose diamonds, and i think it looks lovely on them, even though i wouldn't consider it for myseld.

B9exchange Wed 17-Jul-19 23:31:33

Wouldn't consider any piercings apart from one in each ear. I didn't even plan to get those done, but went back to college in my 30s, the only mature student in a class of 16 year olds, and they dragged me out one lunch hour and insisted I had my ears pierced. It really hurt!

Nothing on earth would persuade me to have any done elsewhere!

Minniemoo Wed 17-Jul-19 23:41:41

Whatever makes you happy. I have nothing pierced. Not even my ears. I did some modelling and PR work when younger and they used to look at me as if I was insane when I couldn't wear the earrings they'd chosen. Interesting as well as I have 2 daughters and one son and not one of them have any piercings either. I never told the girls not to do it but they just never did.

oldgimmer1 Thu 18-Jul-19 06:37:46

I love piercings. I've been lusting after a nose stud for ages but not yet brave enough.

I generally like piercings, personally. I'm nearly 60 (yikes!).

GinnyHendricks Thu 18-Jul-19 12:38:55

I have three in one lobe and am considering a cartilage piercing, I hate those massive hole things people have and facial piercings though. I only wear discreet diamond studs in mine.

paddyann Thu 18-Jul-19 15:27:39

just my ears and only got them done when my daughter wanted hers pierced for her 7th birtday as all her friends had theirs done.My sister and I took her and she decided she needed us to have ours done first so she could see if it hurt ...so one 32 year old and one 37 year old with ear piercings theydidn't really want .She got hers done and let them close up 6 weeks later as she didn't think they suited her.Shes 41 and didn't have them redone ,meanwhile Auntie and I have fabulous collections of earrings though I always werar the same diamond studs my OH bought for my 40th
