I’ve just read the article today on the site regarding 50+ plus sizes and found it wanting!
Some of the shops mentioned are no longer trading and the links are obsolete. I used to love Sixteen47 but they are now closed.
Those of us who are size 20+ do not enjoy wearing clothes designed for smaller people and upsized for us without a thought about widening arms or extra length. I hate wearing t shirts with short arms, preferring to cover mine to just above the elbow, and I prefer a longer length, perhaps down to the hip so I can tuck in or leave out without it cutting me in half.
I am also not a fan of the jeggins shape trouser as I feel it makes me look shorter than I am.
Was the person who wrote this article a 20 something sized10??

I just bought this from Next. It is nice. Knee length on me (I am 5' 7"). Runs large though, so I would size down a bit.

I’m not really a fan of baggy shapeless dresses. They swamp me. I am looking for a pair of smart tailored black trousers but they seem to be in short supply too.

That dress is lovely Jo, I'll get one myself. And it's got pockets! smile

No personally I couldn't wear something described as a 'kaftan'. Too loose and baggy. I also need new trousers as I can't get my old ones on as I've eaten so much! Oops

FannyCornforth Sat 06-Mar-21 11:14:20

It doesn't look anything at all like kaftan.
I love loose and baggy, even when I was a size 8 (those were the days hmm). I think it's a partly a sensory thing. I also like things to hang so that the focus is your head and hands, rather than the contours of your body. I don't think that I'm really a fan of the western way of dressing.

It isn't kaftan-y on, or shapeless. It is more like a dress with a bodice. I really like mine. I bought it to wear with jeans or leggings, but if it were a bit longer, I would be able to wear it without something underneath. I might attach more fabric to make it longer. It is easily smart enough for me to wear to work with sandals.

Just had an email from M&S they have longer sleeves than normal on more tops.

FannyCornforth Sun 07-Mar-21 12:22:16

Jaxjacky a few years ago M&S bought out pure cotton, slightly fitted, boat necked tee shirts with elbow length sleeves.
I'm not exaggerating, I must have bought 20-30 of them. All in black or navy!

It’s described as a kaftan dress FC, I think that’s what Millie meant.

I really like Thought, they may be a bit pricey for some but the do have special offers from time to time. Also just noticed the thread title, their biggest size is 18 so probably not what you’re looking for.
