Seems this week's task is to produce a new upmarket biscuit. Surely we can come up with some suggestions. I fancy something oaty with cinnamon and apple!

pompa Wed 29-Jun-11 19:30:30

How about a pre-dunked ginger nut.

Hattie64 Wed 29-Jun-11 19:38:05

Whatever they are asked to do, you just know they will make a right old muck up of the task as they are mainly all clueless. It will probably end up as a 'dog' biscuit. What is an 'upmarket' biscuit?

Annobel Wed 29-Jun-11 20:36:26

I think Duchy Originals has already cornered that market!

I wish Lord Sugar would see through Melody. Last week she lied through her teeth and got away with it because her partner didn't understand what the French interviewees were saying to her! This week she wanted to completely ignore the focus group when they gave the thumbs down to lumps of dough with marshmallow stuck in them. Yuk!

pompa Thu 30-Jun-11 07:43:18

I though the lumps of dough with marshmallow were a good idea, I'm sure my birds would have liked them as a change from fat balls. Surly she cannot last much longer.

When/if Melody is fired, it will be fascinating to see her on The Apprentice, You're Fired because she apparently has no sense of humour or irony and the panel will surely take the p* in a big way.

susiecb Thu 30-Jun-11 08:16:15

Oh yes although I think melody should go I think Lord Sugar likes to keep in a difficult candidate to see how thothers react to her and Jim think. I look forward to their cvs being ripped apart at the interview stage

pompa Thu 30-Jun-11 08:19:32

Ah, now that has changed my mind about melody going, she has to stay until the interview week, that will be a show to watch grin

Melody seems to be completely amoral. It was fascinating to see the way she relayed Lord Sugar's comments last week. He had announced in the board room all her awards - and was highly ironic in the way he did it. She went back to the house and reported in all seriousness that he had praised her and congratulated her on her achievements. Not how I saw it at all. I am also looking forward to seeing her cv investigated at the interview stage but part of me would really like to see her go asap! As for the biscuits - I still feel that we could have come up with far better ideas! (Even Pompa's pre-dunked ginger nut!)

susiecb Thu 30-Jun-11 10:02:36

Oh yes the biscuit (Biscquit might have been a useable name think of USA sales of British goods) I thought something a little less sugary that could be used as a savoury or sweet biscuit - I was thinking of the little Hovis biscuits that look like a loaf. I think oats have been overdone but seeded things are very popular (very good for post menopausal ladies like me) and since I have been using low fat yogurt in cakes instead of milk I have got a lighter spongier feel to cakes so something using those ingrediants - I love nuts but there is a lot of paranoia about nuts (I include my mad family in that one!)

What a nonsense. People like me write recipes for biscuits because we have been doing this professionally for years. A bunch of hyped-up wannabees hasn't a clue. Does Lord Alan Sugar suggest they find a cure for cancer in 24 hours (far more important than biscuits but still just a professional skill) or provide a cut-price cosmetic dental service This is such a silly programme. For the record, that doesn't mean that there aren't possibilities for lots of tasty and imaginative snacks that no one has produced yet. (I write cookbooks, which are full of yummy biccies – I don't work for a commercial firm.)

susiecb Thu 07-Jul-11 09:46:49

Malicious Melody has gone!! That girl has a massive ego and no shame - she will probably do very well in business - wonder if Rupert Murdoch needs a PA?

pompa Thu 07-Jul-11 09:55:40

What a shame, I was looking forward to seeing her getting nailed in the interview show.

Melanie Thu 07-Jul-11 13:21:18

I think she got off very lightly in the after show The Apprentice You're Fired. No mention of all her double crossing and back stabbing. Dara O'Briain missed his chance there. hmm

Annobel Thu 07-Jul-11 16:47:38

Agreed, Melanie. However, I was, against my will, slightly impressed with the way she handled the BBC Breakfast studio interview. She had lost some of the 'how great am I' bombast and seemed to take herself less seriously. I looked up her web site and she really has done all the things she says she has and I guess that her refugee family background has given her the drive and ambition that made her so ruthless in her pursuit of the apprenticeship. Self-deprecating she will never be!

yogagran Thu 07-Jul-11 23:10:59

I agree with pompa - the interview process would have been interesting with Melody

susiecb Fri 08-Jul-11 08:47:54

Yuk what a sickly programme tonight ' profiling' the last five. Had to turn off after the paeon of praise to creepy Jim. Has this replaced the interview then? That used to be the best bit!

Annobel Fri 08-Jul-11 09:05:05

I think the interview is either still to come at the regular time on a Wednesday or be replaced by the presentation of their business plans. I hope that Tom will show he really can do it! He already seems to be a successful inventor and designer.

shysal Fri 08-Jul-11 09:06:01

I think they are each going to be putting forward a business plan. I guess this will be scrutinized and pulled apart in interviews - hope so !

HildaW Fri 08-Jul-11 13:22:36

Just a thought.......someone's website can contain just as much edited 'facts' as anywhere else.

helshea Sun 10-Jul-11 17:12:15

I think Tom has definitely started to come into his own, and surely he is what Lord Sugar is looking for this year. A business partner is a completely different thing than a job.

shysal Mon 11-Jul-11 13:53:06

helshea - read today that Tom's business had a turn over this year of only £500, and its net worth is minus £15,597. Maybe he is not much of a businessman after all!

helshea Tue 12-Jul-11 19:59:33

Exactly my point, he can invent, but needs a businessman to sort the rest out - perfect partnership.

Annobel Thu 14-Jul-11 08:01:46

Glum Natasha gone, glib Jim still there. Final is on Sunday evening, a two hour marathon. Who will be his lordship's partner? I wonder if he sees Susie as a kind of mini Sugar. Isn't it inevitable that the impeccable Helen will produce the most perfect business plan, but will that be enough?
