A new animated series about the Royal family portrays Prince George as a scathing commentator on palace life. The Prince, which will air on the US streaming service HBO Max, has a cast that includes Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Sussex and Frances de la Tour as the Queen. It is based on an Instagram run by Gary Janetti, a writer for Family Guy and Will & Grace

Hmm- not at all sure about this.
I suspect Frances de la Tour (whom I have always admired up to now) will be waving goodbye to any OBE/CBE/Damehoods in future Honours lists.
It does seem to be crass to make a cartoon series about living people and (maybe I am being a wee bit patriotic here) about our Royal Family who for the most part are held in high respect both at hone and abroad ( OK maybe not ALL of them!) .

To be fair if they portrayed it exactly as it is happening, it would be fairly dramatic.

Actually I suspect it would be extremely boring - less exciting than The Archers but with posher accents!

No one is mocking Meghans children and hopefully they never will. The vitriol about the Sussex's is purely because of their behaviour and lies towards both their families including our 95 year old Queen. Where it not for that, I think they would still be as popular as they clearly were when they married. Prince George has done nothing to deserve being portrayed as some sort of oaf and he is powerless to put a stop to it. Having said that, all satire is cruel and that includes any about the Sussex 's.

I see a family as a unit, made up of people who love and support each other.
Criticism of one hurts the whole unit.

They're a bit late to the party.

I love ‘The Windsor’s’
I can watch it over and over again, especially the first series.

As a former member of The Workers’ Revolutionary Party, I can’t imagine that Frances de la Tour would be expecting or welcoming a Damehood!

Anniebach Fri 30-Jul-21 11:21:38

If one puts oneself up for interviews one can expect criticism,

Has George given interviews ?

MissAdventure Fri 30-Jul-21 11:29:58

Has Archie?
They're both children so neither is responsible for their parents.
Therefore I see little difference.

Anniebach Fri 30-Jul-21 11:32:53

Archie has not been criticised, what is there to criticise in a tot?

MissAdventure Fri 30-Jul-21 11:34:23

Nothing at all, but critisism of a family member hurts just as much as criticism of ourselves sometimes.

Anniebach Fri 30-Jul-21 11:36:11

Does a 8 year old deserve to be mocked ?

MissAdventure Fri 30-Jul-21 11:37:58

Nope.
Does a child want to read how despised his mother is?
Nope.
So again, from my perspective there is little difference.

Are they mocking or are they using the voice to mock the adults, that's a fairly common part of satire.

Anniebach Fri 30-Jul-21 11:43:24

Does it matter ? They are using an 8 year old

I doubt Archie reads the newspapers.

The Prince official trailer is available on YouTube. The comments are interesting. It’s not being well received. Many are making the point that Prince George is a real 8-year-old child, not a fictional one like Stewie from Family Guy. Some make the point that Royalty are public figures and fair game, but children are not.

Link here if anyone wants to read them, or watch the trailer. youtu.be/jGxOken3-lc

I watched it. It's mildly funny with a few obvious jokes like Charles and "I want to be king'. Not sure it will be very popular

Make fun of adult royals by all means. But not children.

Ellianne Fri 30-Jul-21 12:36:29

That bit was funny ish, but I've heard there's parts of it questioning his sexuality which just isn't fair.

I suspect Frances de la Tour has already been offered and turned down a Damehood!

Keeper1 Fri 30-Jul-21 12:52:35

Why does he have an American accent a slightly effeminate American accent at that?

Jabberwok Fri 30-Jul-21 13:19:47

I expect because it's an American production . Money speaks all languages and I'm sure this will be no exception , which after all is the most important thing! Abusing a little boy is way down the list!

Alegrias1 Fri 30-Jul-21 13:27:47

Any comments about Louis?

Jabberwok Fri 30-Jul-21 13:39:12

Just as unpleasant, but why aren't we surprised?

Anniebach Fri 30-Jul-21 14:08:41

Well some think it acceptable

Blossoming Fri 30-Jul-21 14:16:52

I think if any of George’s school friends see it he may well be subjected to ridicule or bullying. I realise it’s aimed at an adult audience but it won’t stop any 8 year old with a tablet or ‘phone finding and sharing it. That’s my main concern.

Jabberwok Fri 30-Jul-21 14:22:12

As if the money makers care about that. So long as the money rolls in that's all that matters.

Namsnanny Fri 30-Jul-21 14:23:44

I'm saddened that people think it's ok to use the image of a RL 8yr old , (who ever his parents are), as a vehicle for 'satire'.
