Netflix The Crown series 4 starts tonight...who will be watching it?

Some of it will have to be taken with a pinch of salt but I'm looking forward to it.

I'm on episode 2. It's OK but some pretty crass representation of the Thatchers put me off a bit. I'll stick with it I expect.

Yes I will watch it. Have just finished series 3 in preparation. I love seeing them being dressed and undressed like toddlers.

Pretty shocked at the Independent's article, to be honest, which gives a recap of the first three series. One heading states "Howard Wilson Resigned". Yes, really. And no, it wasn't a typo, because the mistake is repeated in the text. A junior reporter I imagine, for him Harold Wilson is ancient history, and no one checking before publication.

Binge watching and have just seen my brother in episode 5

Watching episode 3, series 4, after chores this morning and before dinner soon! I have liked all the series so far and have liked the fact they have reminded me of recent history. In this series Mrs Thatcher seems to be a parody of herself and it feels more like a soap opera so far. Looking forward to the rest of them but will take them them with a pinch of salt.

Don’t have Netflix, would definitely watch The Crown if I did.

My DIL, after watching past series, told me how good it was, and informed me that Princess Margaret had wanted to marry this divorced man, but wasn’t allowed to.

I was just amazed that this was news to her, but I suppose royal events back in the 50’s was just history to her.

My DD and DGD don’t understand why Charles couldn’t marry Camilla.....trying to understand that virginity/suitability was prized over love in the early seventies.

Yes fannyC, as much as I think Olivia Coleman is a brilliant actress, she doesn’t really do it for me as the Queen. The voice is good, but there’s something wrong in the way she looks. Imelda Staunton will be spot on I’m sure. I do hope your husband is home soon, completely recovered ?.

Yes I've watched first 3 episodes bit random but did anyone notice the mouse running across the floor in the queen mothers sitting room the scene where everyone is waiting to hear if Charles had proposed

I saw the mouse too Harrysgran. I'm not a royalist but I enjoy watching for the costumes and history, albeit probably biased at times. I also enjoy thinking about my life at that time. I was married the same year as Charles and Diana.

I have enjoyed it. I've been looking forward to it for ages, and have set aside today for unashamed bingeing. I am not a royalist, so watch partly for the history, and partly for the soap opera side of it. I think I am on Episode 7 now (the funeral of the friend killed in the avalanche is on).

I think Olivia Coleman has been good, but am less keen on the portrayal of Thatcher. The voice was all wrong, and I didn't find her convincing.

My daughter is watching it 100 miles away, and we are texting one another. We agreed that this series is less kind to the Queen than the others. I was sorry for Charles up to this series, and still have sympathy for him as a sensitive soul with pretty much no love or kindness in his upbringing, but the way they are portraying his marriage and treatment of Diana is putting me off him.

I felt like that until I watched it. I think it was after Series 2 had ended that I watched the first two. I don't remember the 50's, and was a child in the 60's, so whilst I knew about a lot of the events I have no adult memory of them, and it was interesting to watch them unfold. I didn't know, for instance, that Harold Wilson had Alzheimers, although I have a memory of him as PM.
