So, apparently he told Mumsnet
I’m totally anti-sugar on health grounds, so eat very few biscuits,” replied Mr Corbyn. “But if forced to accept one, it’s always a pleasure to have a shortbread ???
(How do you "force" someone to eat a biscuit?) hmm
Thank goodness they didn't ask him about cupcakecupcake ?

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 10:27:59

Ah yes.

I think of Corbyn and McDonnell as Pinkie and Perkie.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 10:28:20

that to riverwalk

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 10:28:21

Could be both!

Elysium Tue 20-Sep-16 10:29:17

So much for the "racy reds". As a life long socialist, I have always succumbed to a fig roll! However whether this is another poke at him by the media, I worry about a man that seems to attract so many acolytes, in particular women, and that he seems to be cosseted and tucked away in 'cupboard meetings' with his chosen followers, nibbling no doubt all the custard creams!

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 10:29:49

Both - was to Daphne grin

daphnedill Tue 20-Sep-16 10:33:00

But, niggle, even without added sugar, blackberry jam is essentially just sugar in water.

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 10:33:20

Elysium Garabaldi was a socialist - maybe you should switch from fig rolls!

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 10:33:49

Thanks Ana. He refuses to take part in any interview unless he knows the questions being put to him or an interview is prerecorded . Perhaps a control freak?

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 10:36:42

Elysium, he does draw women doesn't he? Wonder why, perhaps he brings out their mothering instincts Yet he has had three wives , most strange man

Rosieroe Tue 20-Sep-16 10:41:52

Anniebach or a 'front man' who is being manipulated and dare not say anything he's not permitted to as it may be contrary to agenda.

Lilyflower Tue 20-Sep-16 10:42:28

'A man who cannot name a favourite biscuit cannot govern the country.' I think Samuel Johnson said that. (Not).

Ana Tue 20-Sep-16 10:44:51

Wasn't Gordon Brown extremely reluctant to give an answer on this subject? Can't remember what he came up with eventually...

Lewlew Tue 20-Sep-16 10:53:40

Corbyn is a lefty Trump !

trisher Tue 20-Sep-16 11:02:32

Oh for God's sake have you lot nothing better to do than pick every statement to bits. As for 'forcing' if you don't understand that you can't have Irish ancestors. My gran (Irish Family) always insisted you had something with a cup of tea and pushed the cake/piece of pie/biscuit onto a plate in front of your nose until you agreed to eat it. You wouldn't have got out of her house until you had.
I'm anti-sugar as well, I just don't have any will power!!!

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 11:04:34

trisher, it's light relief chat , not an attack on your hero

Anniebach Tue 20-Sep-16 11:05:55

Ana, I think Brown finally decided on chocolate biscuits

trisher Tue 20-Sep-16 11:19:48

So why bring in the interview comment or the wives Anniebach any excuse for a chance to attack eh? As for heroes most of mine are women. Currently probably Lisbeth Simm because of the research I am doing. Great socialist woman who I don't suppose you've even heard of.

Jeremy Corbyn is a lovely honest man. I first met him at a conference thirty years ago and he hasn't changed a bit. We are so used to spin and deceit that we believe everything we read. I also eat healthily but enjoy a biscuit and sometimes accept a piece of home made cake rather than offend. John McDonnell has stuck up for workers and stood alongside them in rain and snow for years. I worked my sox off before retirement so I understand what that is worth. Whatever your political belief what's not to like! Ant and Dec--who they??

Riverwalk Tue 20-Sep-16 11:30:16

I think it's not a bad thing that he admitted to not knowing Ant & Dec - that's far more sincere than Blair with his glottal stops, and Cameron & Osborne pretending to be football fans.

Cameron got confused with which team he was supposed to support, Aston Villa, he referred to West Ham (same colour strip) grin.

Rosieroe Tue 20-Sep-16 11:31:58

You possibly didn't mean to belittle Anniebach, Trisher but your last post could be read as an attempt at intellectual snobbery - something quite often used to intimidate and stifle debate.

trisher Tue 20-Sep-16 11:38:17

If it is viewed as such I apologise Rosieroe however Annie constantly emphasises her Labour background and connections, I just wanted to make her aware that I know something of Labour history.

nosnibor3 Tue 20-Sep-16 12:09:32

About 30 years ago Jeremy Corbyn came to speak at local Labour Party meeting. Living in a constituency which is so blue they weigh the Tory votes instead of counting them, we were thrilled to have a Labour MP to speak to us. I know I enjoyed the meeting, both his talk & questions afterwards; but I can't remember anything he said!I found out afterwards that I was not the only one, we were totally captivated by the small (5p size?) hole in his jumper! No biscuits noticed.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 12:13:53

What was her favourite biscuit trish? No research complete till you've found that.

jinglbellsfrocks Tue 20-Sep-16 12:15:40

nosnibor3 a meeting without any biscuits laid on?! Shame!

gillybob Tue 20-Sep-16 12:25:10

Our customers love coming to us for meetings, even though some times it would be more practical for us to go to them. Apparently word has got around about our comprehensive biscuit stash, which has something to suit almost every taste, even JC. Specially if it is just after Christmas as I bring the left over shortbreads to work to get them out of the house use up.

We have regular customers (Engineers) who now have the cheek to request certain biscuits when they arrange a meeting. "yes, we will be there for 11 am can you make sure Gilly has plenty of Hobnobs" grin
