angry

Seven children, youngest 20 days old, drowned.

Strange isn't it, that the men are the ones who manage to stay alive. I wonder how much they do to save their children, or are they too busy saving themselves?

Those children didn't ask to be put on that boat. We've pussy footed round these men too often.

here

I wouldn't imprison this man sad

I don't know the answer.

More terrified and freezing cold children on the news last night. all the sads in the world.

Who are the bullies?

rosesarered Sat 12-Dec-15 20:00:38

Neither stansgran it's a Lenin hat!?

thatbags Sat 12-Dec-15 13:54:02

He's a celebrity. He gets celebrity attention. Goes with the territory.

Stansgran Sat 12-Dec-15 13:36:40

I've just had a weird conversation with someone as to whether or not Corbyn's hat/ cap is a Mao hat or a Coppola ( mafia) why do people care? but I would like to know

rosequartz Sat 12-Dec-15 13:27:32

I could have given him some of that iron-on hemming tape if I'd known! Even DH can use it.
I prefer his new haircut (am I allowed to say that?)

Ana Sat 12-Dec-15 13:25:44

I'm sure he'll get it right soon! smile

Anniebach Sat 12-Dec-15 13:24:05

But he hasn't rosequartz, the Daily Wail condemn the length of his trousers at an event, seems an inch too long for the Wail

rosequartz Sat 12-Dec-15 13:05:31

how the right went on and on about Corbyn wearing a vest

I don't think it was those on the right particularly annie who were interested in 'the vest' and whether or not he would succumb to the 'establishment way' of dressing for certain occasions - which he has grin

rosequartz Sat 12-Dec-15 13:02:25

other people feel they can't join in because of their suspect (me!!) political views which seem to be greeted with howls of rage, or their grammatical errors!
It seems odd to me for one poster to pick on another poster for their grammatical errors when the critic uses, for example, split infinitives in their post.
I am not criticising anyone's grammar as I am very fond of using split infinitives myself. As I said, I just find it odd to criticise a person's linguistic abilities when one's own is not perfect.

black, pot, kettle etc

Anniebach Sat 12-Dec-15 12:47:49

Thank you Anya, it troubled me greatly , still does

Anya Sat 12-Dec-15 12:38:53

That should read 'their nasty little.....'

Anya Sat 12-Dec-15 12:35:14

I never said I didn't accept your apology Anniebach I did read it a couple of days later when I next signed on but the moment had passed and I thought neither of us would benefit from resurrecting it, which is why I didn't mention you by name in my post just now.

So perhaps we should just let that drop?

What did disgust me though was those, previously mentioned 'hangers on' without an original thought in their fluffy little heads who immediately jumped on the bandwagon, and without any excuse added three nasty little condemnation to your accidental and mistaken accusation.

Ana Sat 12-Dec-15 12:18:15

And those with moderate right-wing leanings, if they do post an opinion, are often accused of being on the 'far-right'!

Anniebach Sat 12-Dec-15 12:17:38

For ehich a full apology was given Anya, that you refuse to accept it is your choice

Anya Sat 12-Dec-15 12:14:15

niggly said the same thing myself many times. Then out from the woodwork pop the 'if you don't stand the heat' hangers on.

There are those on here who hold left wing views who can expres then sensibly and powerfully without resorting to personal insults, name calling and, as recently happened to me, lies and false accusations.

It's the low level of debate (if you can even call it that) that makes many of us give up in disgust. We could stand 'the heat' of a good old political ding dong, but this reminds me of the kind of garbage you hear from the likes of Trump only with a different political slant.

nigglynellie Sat 12-Dec-15 12:00:33

I'm sure you're right ab, that was irrelevant and silly, and equally off putting, but I think the far left do hold centre stage in the majority of discussions, and get the gold star for intolerance. But there you go, at the end of the day I doubt that what we think will make a jot of difference in the great scheme of things!

Anniebach Sat 12-Dec-15 11:36:03

And from the right wing, some in the right wing ridicule and taunt and some on the left are forced to defend , so let's not have the right wing posters are victims please . Who can forget the thread where the leadership contest was being discussed , how the right went on and on about Corbyn wearing a vest , stopped serious discussions though

Ana Sat 12-Dec-15 11:27:10

There are a couple of the political threads which the same two posters seem to have all to themselves. Probably for the reasons you mention, nigglynellie.

nigglynellie Sat 12-Dec-15 11:16:48

Oh I know!! I wasn't referring to you Jingle! A bit of a rant is fair enough, but surely not to the extent that other people feel they can't join in because of their suspect (me!!) political views which seem to be greeted with howls of rage, or their grammatical errors! so, all in all, you don't bother, which in turn makes for a rather one sided conversation! It's just a bit of a pity that's all!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Dec-15 10:49:53

It was only a little shout.

nigglynellie Sat 12-Dec-15 10:46:46

Of course there are not that many posters on here. While there is this awful furious bullying confrontational attitude to people who hold different views other than the prescribed far left you are simply driving other contributors away, so that in the end the few who are left (excuse the pun!!)will just agree with each other as they are preaching to the converted. Hardly a balanced conversation. I for one like to hear and be able to discuss in an interested and convivial way, other people's points of view, however much I might disagree; I would like to be able to ask someone, in a reasonable way, how and why they feel the way they do, not lay into them and accuse them of heaven knows what. I would like them to ask me the same, not just scornfully ridicule any opinion I might have because it's not a left wing one. All this rubbish about spelling and grammar is particularly tiresome. Isn't this extremely rude and taking a superior attitude to those of us who perhaps haven't had the benefit of a University Education and maybe not held down a professional job during their working years, which somehow makes you a subordinate being. Can we not have a proper conversation that everyone who wants to can join in whatever their political beliefs and educational credentials are without resorting to a shouting match?!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 12-Dec-15 09:21:08

grin

There you are jayh. We can see it now. tchsmile
