Do you wear knickers in bed?

Last night I ended up having a rather heated debate with a friend about whether you should wear knickers in bed. She said absolutely not - you should let your 'bits' air. I said yes - because then you don't have to change your pyjamas every singles day and also because it just feels better. Who is right? (Me obviously but interested to know what others think)

Urea is good for your skin, all the best hard-skin creams contain it, so peeing in the shower or bath is good for you!

Knickers in bed but nothing else, all year round.

If you change sheets often and air the bed every day for a few hours with the windows open then there is no problem and my mattress is definitely not disgusting its fresh and dry. I cannot for the life of me see why a bum touching a sheet is any more disgusting than feet for instance we have clean bums in our house.

I quite agree tanith- you, like me have a daily shower or bath so we are clean.

I wish I could bathe occasionally Charleygirl, I'd love to lay back in a nice bubbly bath once in a while although I prefer my daily shower , its just not possible with my knees and hips they just don't want to 'bend' enough grin.

I have not had a bath now for years for the same reasons. If I got in it would be like the sinking of the Titanic and I would never get out again. I had to have the bath removed to have a decent sized shower fitted.

The last person (only other???) to ask me that question was dgd, aged 8, and I think she and her sister had recently started to get interested in what their parents don't wear in bed......hmmm

I always wear something in bed - even if it is hot, I like to have something that soaks up the sweat.

I only wear Angel perfume in bed...and no knickers in the bath ...and I dont pee in the bed grin

It has never crossed my mind to wear knickers in bed! Long nighties here; husband disapproves of pyjamas.

gulligranny Thu 29-Oct-15 17:16:18

Nothing for me or DH either, we have dressing gowns to hand if required. This has only proved to be a problem on a couple of occasions when DC (darling cat) brought us the gift of a mouse in the middle of the night and DH forgot to put on said dressing gown before opening front door to free mouse ..... fortunately we live at the end of a driveway off a cul-de-sac so no-one was shocked and horrified!

If a man disapproved of my pjs, he would not be sharing my bed and if he voiced it he would quite likely not be sharing the same house.

Ana Thu 29-Oct-15 17:34:34

I hope he disapproves of them for himself, as well! Matching his'n'her nighties? wink

Never wear knickers in bed, get too warm. It's also unhygienic. Always wear a short sleeve nightie in summer and a long sleeved one in winter.

Surely if you have a warm duvet you don't need to wear several layers of clothing in bed. I don't see the point.

grandmaz Thu 29-Oct-15 17:49:32

Well...I absolutely don't do the knicker thing in bed at home however I most certainly would in hospital! blush

Can't imagine wearing knickers AND PJ's to bed - I'd think that I was almost dressed...don't like feeling all trussed up..and tbh if there was a fire during the night, I think that my knickerless state would be the least of my worries!!

Just goes to show, as if we didn't know already - we are all different and what suits one is anathema to another!

Vive la difference..it's what makes life interesting! wink

I go with Marilyn Monroe, just a touch of perfume!!

tanith Thu 29-Oct-15 19:38:48

I've loved reading every bodies take on this subject wink

All this talk of knickers has reminded me of one of my favourite "Two Ronnies" jokes. It came at the end of their show one week:

Ronnie C: "Next week we'll be talking to a lady who likes Nicholas Parsons."
Ronnie B: "And a parson who likes knickerless ladies."

grin

Indinana Thu 29-Oct-15 19:59:37

With apologies for going off at a tangent.

As you were smile

Ana Thu 29-Oct-15 20:03:30

And that reminds me of the old joke 'Nicholas Parsons shouldn't climb trees'...grin (or groan...)

Nanajaws Thu 29-Oct-15 20:06:58

I wear a nightie in bed with no knickers but when DH used to go away on business trips I always wore knickers as well, not sure why. I had a friend who did the same and she also used to hide all her sharp knives when her husband was away !

shysal Thu 29-Oct-15 20:34:33

To digress somewhat, do you wear pants under or over your tights? Years ago a friend was surprised that I wore mine under. Unless they were the knicker/tights combination one used to be able to get, I wouldn't want nylon next to my 'bits'! She said wearing them over stopped the 'web-legged' look if tights decended.

Ana Thu 29-Oct-15 20:39:25

Goodness! Why stop there? Why not wear one pair of knickers under your tights and one on top? Mind-boggling...thlconfused
