Empathy for Our Queen? ( As a Mother)

In the light of recent events, and as mothers & Grandmothers
How much empathy/ sympathy do we have for The Queen ?

She has always been so stoic, & has now been badly let down, will she / should she consider sending PA to the tower ( or the outer Hebrides) for a cooling off period. ?
She certainly does not deserve this at her time of life & dedication to her role.
I definitely feel for her, The Christmas speech should be interesting !

My figures are without the massive increase for repairs

Rosina Thu 21-Nov-19 17:28:12

What a mess, and it all has to be played out in the public eye. I do wonder if Andrew will simply unravel now; he has been a soldier and a businessman, and now all 'business' has withdrawn from him for the worst reasons, he is publicly reviled and is without purpose. He has already mentioned his mental health because of the situation he is in.

Anniebach Thu 21-Nov-19 17:37:38

He is going to continue with two projects

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 17:41:10

Which ones?
One in the South Sandwich Islands and the other on South Georgia?

suziewoozie Thu 21-Nov-19 17:42:13

Mentioned his mental health has he? Did he mention the mental health of abused and trafficked young women? Thought not.

We’ll see annie we’ll see

Anniebach Thu 21-Nov-19 18:20:19

Yes I do feel greatly for the Queen.

There is not another 93 year old Granny on the planet that has to watch their children hung, drawn and quartered, and stripped and dipped so publicly.

As for Prince Andrew he made an ill judged/informed choice speaking as he did. He looked slouched and couldn't care less sitting awkwardly showing his double chins. Stupid or guilty I know not but I'm sure the truth will out.

I hope this does not affect the Queen's health and she stays strong.

Not much. She took her eye off the ball and should have kept a tight rein on those who receive public money (our money).

I feel sad for the Queen from the news reels, the TV series, the clips we were allowed watch. She is from a bygone era, an age where things were done differently.

Perhaps it would have been wiser to hand over the job to somebody younger.

Pixxie7 Thu 21-Nov-19 20:13:21

I have no time for any of the royal family. In my opinion the queen should have intervened when this first broke they all cover for each other. They say no one is above the law but how true is this really?

Anniebach Thu 21-Nov-19 21:36:17

I certainly will not judge the Queen as a mother, I don’t know what or if anything could make cut off from children.

I remember some years ago a mother travelled from Scotland to England every month to visit her son in prison, he was serving life for the most horrific crimes, will never be released.

She was asked why she visited him knowing what he had done
She just replied - he is my son, the sorrow showed in her face,
I suppose - hate the sin but love the sinner.

Vivian123 Thu 21-Nov-19 21:58:20

Greeneyedgirl. I think the Queen is of an age where she is entitled to a free TV licence!

Grammaretto Thu 21-Nov-19 23:14:23

The RF are disfunctional but at least they are rich and disfunctional.
Imagine if PA was a poor. He could be homeless and sleeping rough. An addict with PTSD after his soldiering.
Then again, he wouldn't be in the public eye and he would have friends (not like JE, imagine if he were your friend!)
Yes I do feel for the b****rs.
Born in a bubble with nowhere to go.

suziewoozie Thu 21-Nov-19 23:17:42

annie why not try showing some love to MegHan and not judging her so harshly then?

Solonge Thu 21-Nov-19 23:29:49

Watch the Prince and Paedophile on Channel 4.

Prince Charles wants to trim down the royals to the close family. All the minor ones cause endless trouble and are not needed. Why on earth do we still have any of them? They have no power and have to find jobs for themselves touring Africa etc. but no one asked them to. Harry and Meghan could bow out too since they are so unhappy.

Dottynan Fri 22-Nov-19 07:05:46

I wonder what the Duke of Edinburgh thinks of all this.

suziewoozie Fri 22-Nov-19 08:00:42

If the D of E had been anything of a father, maybe PA would have turned out better. He {Dof E) is a nasty, self opinionated man who thinks normal rules don’t apply to him (and he’s right of course).,He’s now achieved a sort of sainthood jus because he’s old .

ReadyMeals Fri 22-Nov-19 09:35:46

With Beatrice and Eugenie even more set aside by their father's effective removal, and if Harry and Meghan do eventually throw in the towel and move abroad for a large part of the year, will Charles' plans to slim down the firm end up with it too slim? William is filling the jar up by having plentiful offspring but it's going to be at least two decades before they're really ready to take on royal duties.

I'd not be surprised if we see Beatrice and Eugenie actually given more to do until the kids are older, since they at least have never drawn embarrassing personal attention to themselves (in spite of the mild eye-rolling about their holidays) and they do already have royal titles unlike many other of the Queen's grandchildren.

Callistemon Fri 22-Nov-19 09:43:44

have to find jobs for themselves touring Africa etc

I think that many foreign tours are to Commonwealth countries who are very keen to maintain links with the UK through our Royal family eebeew.
Diplomatic relations, trade etc with other parts of the world are all important too and the RF, like them or not, play a vital role in this.

Anniebach Fri 22-Nov-19 09:58:28

The heads of the Commonwealth countries have voted for Charles to become Head of the Commonwealth after the Queen.

Such a pity William and Kate’s official tour of Pakistan was overshadowed by the meme Sussex pair, and Charles and
Camilla’s tour of New Zealand wasn’t even covered by the media.

Callistemon Fri 22-Nov-19 10:08:41

I just looked online Anniebach and the Daily Mail has a good report, together with some great pictures of the New Zealand tour.
I can't link on here for some reason.

grapefruitpip Fri 22-Nov-19 10:14:43

What's a meme pair please?

ReadyMeals Fri 22-Nov-19 10:58:50

I think she meant me-me as in all about themselves.
