I will not be celebrating leaving the EU.
Are any of you going to Party the night away ?

Hetty58 Fri 31-Jan-20 10:00:16

I'm off to a double birthday party. It may be mistaken for a Brexit party.

Leavers and remainers will be there. As the decision to leave has already been made 'remainers' seems the wrong term now. What will they call themselves?

My friends and family voted both ways. We respect each other's views, of course, as always (doesn't happen on GN, though, does it?).

Boeuf bourguignon here followed by tiramisu. French wine and some foreign cheeses.
Just pleased it's all finally decided, though not sorted for years.

Hetty58 Fri 31-Jan-20 10:04:23

Apart from Opal, you all seem a miserable lot. Worry not, the sky isn't about to fall down!

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 10:12:01

I shan’t be ‘partying’ although I will tune in to hear what Boris has to say at 10pm. And I must say the spectacle of all those Union flags on Pall Mall was a stirring sight!

Upwards and onwards. I shall look out for a commemorative 50p coin to keep as a souvenir ...

I didn’t want to leave so won’t be partying. I won’t be sitting around moping either.

Was it Marilyn Monroe who said that sometimes good things fall apart so that better things can fall together?

We’ll raise a glass at 11 o’clock and toast the future.

lemongrove Fri 31-Jan-20 10:38:27

Not a party but a glass or two of bubbly to celebrate. Why would anyone think YABU Brid ? Entirely our own choice.

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 10:48:25

Well said Maggiemaybe!

I'm with Opal and Hetty. Yes, down here in the South West there will no doubt be a lot of people celebrating (ducks under table to avoid abuse). confused

Bridgeit Fri 31-Jan-20 10:59:15

Lemongrove I always post on AIBU never sure where else to post, I don’t really fit in, I’m open to suggestions ( if not to harsh?)

Bridgeit Fri 31-Jan-20 11:00:24

Too not to

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 11:00:46

Perhaps ‘Chat’ *Bridgit?

Bridgeit Fri 31-Jan-20 11:01:43

I will take a look thanks Urmstongran.

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 11:01:54

Sorry - Bridgeit. Oops!

Hetty58 Fri 31-Jan-20 11:05:40

I really can't imagine many GNters really being the 'party the night away' type in any case, whatever happens, can you?

Bridgeit Fri 31-Jan-20 11:09:07

For the right circumstances I could give it a go?

Hetty58 Fri 31-Jan-20 11:28:08

Maybe with a few Codeine?

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 11:43:19

Ha! That really made me laugh Hetty58. I thought similar but held back, thinking I’d get shouts of ‘ageism’ from some quarters. You know how it is these days ...

WishIwasyounger Fri 31-Jan-20 11:44:11

I'm feeling really sad about it. More wine needed

Hetty58 Fri 31-Jan-20 11:51:50

Wine seems to fit the occasion, however you feel about it!

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 11:55:40

Ah I’m doing ‘dry January ‘... I had 3 days exempt for special occasions so I’m adding them onto next week as it is!

lucywinter Fri 31-Jan-20 12:41:16

I will have a listen to this and then go to bed feeling very sad.

I'm not miserable Hetry, just resigned.

Tesco had some empty shelves this morning- are people panic buying?

Urmstongran Fri 31-Jan-20 12:47:40

Or buying in for their parties perhaps? ? ? ?

JenniferEccles Fri 31-Jan-20 12:49:09

Oh yes we will certainly stay up and cheer at 11pm when despite everything possible being done to thwart the will of the majority, we are finally leaving.
Hurrah .!! ? I understand Boris will be speaking on the 10 o’clock news so we’ll watch that and then await 11pm.

Yiayia4 Fri 31-Jan-20 12:50:46

Each to their own, those celebrating enjoy.
