Angela Rayner cleared by HMRC. What a coincidence!
Good morning everyone.
My question today is what are peoples opinions of wearing a mask ?
I will explain my opinion. I k ow they are necessary, I understand their purpose and despite not feeling comfortable in the slightest wearing one, I am on the understanding that I would rather wear one than catch the virus, but the whole situation has left me avoiding going shops or generally out and about and I have to agree with a report I read this a.m that others such as myself, will be drawn to online shopping opposed to trailing round shops, and then WHERE does that leave the high street ?
In the meantime, when its necessary to go out ( food shopping, petrol station) I will wear my mask, but other than the necessary public places, I will refrain.

I actually think the question of mask wearing is an interesting one NOW, as many people who have never worn a mask, are having to comply now.
I have/had no objection to wearing one, in principle, but up until last Friday, l never did.
Now l feel obliged to, as l don't want to be refused entry to a supermarket etc, or indeed, cause an unnecessarily fuss.
Yes: it has put me off going into shops, as the masks are more unpleasant than l anticipated. After about ten minutes, l am starting to snivel like a two year old, and need to blow my nose. Not ideal!
So the speed at which l shop is going to increase to a virtual run. Just get in, get stuff, get out.
You will know me, as l will be the fastest shopper in the West...... Lol ?
Amazon should pay tax in this country. I know they’re indispensable at the moment but they’re a pretty disgusting company in many ways. Re covering shoes: in some countries shoes are disinfected eg when children go into school: people entering shops etc. It does make sense. I mean, I assume most of us take off outer outside shoes when we get home so something needs to be done about other places. Especially as virus laden droplets will fall onto the floor.
Does it really matter if this is another thread? It does not have to be read or commented upon and can just be passed over.
I am happy to wear a mask and I would like to think everyone will do their bit. I have not been to town since before lock down and was very careful then due to my low immunity. I will not be venturing back for a while and will continue with on line shopping for my food much as I miss going into the supermarkets. Shopping on line for other things is not much of a change for me.
Lets just hope this whole thing improves and one day we can get back to normal
I wore a maskfor the first time today. It was horrible & I couldn't breath- I am claustrophobic though. I wore it in 2 shops in a local precinct & couldn't wait to get it off. The damn thing promptly broke when I removed it too.
I had bought a pack of 3 but I am very reluctant to wear it for longer than just a few minutes.
Serendipity22 All of the masks I have tried thus far make me feel hot and sweaty so I will be avoiding the shops for the foreseeable future. This is a shame as I like charity shops and antique shopping. These are the sorts of shops you browse carefully in and feeling hot and flustered isn't nice.
#wearthedamnmask
I believe this hashtag was credited by an American in the last few days.
I spent 10 minutes in the coop wearing one the other day. It was so hot I had to keep pulling the chin part away from my face. I could never go round a large supermarket for half an hour. I will keep to click and collect and shopping online.
Lucca
Absolutely.
I've been working and wearing a mask since mid Juin,
fine by me , I prefer to live my life with them rather than
stay behind closed doors living with fear.
Whose it hurting bringing a subject up again. People are worried! Like me you probably get a daily update from Gransnet. DON'T OPEN THE TOPIC IF YOU'VE READ THE TOPIC before
No more threads a About masks please ! It’s all been said
Lucca Who sez!? FYI, I always wear one when at my desktop because I've heard, and it's true I'm sure, that there are many types of viruses out there!
That's why I always keep my protection updated!
A mask is also very good for filtering out the coffee grounds as I drink my elevenses! They're very beneficial for the roses!
Cheers and Good Health.
I don't like masks but I think I'll dislike CV19 more so I will wear mine quite happily. If you get the best fit for you, it makes it much better.
I don't have a problem with a mask now that I have bought the disposable ones; much more comfortable. The previous black stretch one either fell off my nose or hit the bottom of my eyelids and when I put it on to enter the shop a little girl burst into tears. (could have understood it if that was before I wore it.)
Serendipity22 I agree with Galaxy. I would add that I wear a mask in a shop etc not to protect me but to protect others.
Today for the first time I tried out a visor. For me that is the way to go as between glasses and hearing aids there's not a lot of space behind my ears for mask loops
Well said Beanie654321, Frankie51 and Quizzer. Excellent posts!
Teetime, you are correct. I used to love browsing in shops but can't be bothered anymore as I hate having to wear a mask. I used to buy bargain things all year round for Christmas stocking fillers for the grandchildren. It'll just be main presents this year.
Why do people complain about there being too many posts about the same subject? You are not obliged to read it! I have no problem at all with masks as I have sleep apnea and have had to wear a mask at night for several years. At first it felt like I was being suffocated but I persevered and got used to it. I can understand people who are not used to masks can find it difficult but you only have to wear it for a short time in shops or public transport. Nurses and doctors have to wear them for hours on end.
A couple of years ago, I had a 6 hour operation. I presume that the surgeons and the nurses were wearing masks throughout that time. They were also operating on other people that day, and presumably they were masked then. I don't imagine that any of them complained.
If they can do it, so can we. If wearing a little bit of cloth across our faces can help to keep people off ventilators or out of coffins, why would we refuse?

It’s not the number of Posts but the number of threads -all with more or less the same titles and subject matter..
Once a thread has 1000 posts a new thread has to be started, are you suggesting there have been 19000+ posts?
If I see a “new” thread, I tend to think it might be on a new topic - silly Maw

I know this has been said over and over again in many, many threads but, PLEASE, note that masks are to protect others from you, not you from others.
Visors generally protect you but not others (although there is some protection for others from your coughs and sneezes), By all means wear a visor if you must but, wear a mask too.
Tweedle that is not so true. The information now is that
if you wear a mask it will give you around 64% protection
from someone spreading the disease to you.
I have always felt protected from others when wearing the
mask
All this moaning and complaining about wearing a mask.
Let’s just give thanks we don’t have to wear a gas mask like in the Second World War.
Just think on that one.
