Sorry but I've got to have a vent - I am sick to the back teeth of Adele. Hasn't she got enough money to not have to promote her new album so much, fans will buy it anyway without ramming it down our throats. I don't want to hear how she suffered with her divorce, most women do confused What happened to that lovely shy girl who people could relate to and was a joy to hear. I always say that Alison Moyet was the Adele of the 80's but all those years ago they didn't receive the obscene amount of earnings that they do now. I know some of you will say don't listen then but this morning she was on different tv channels I flicked through so I sat down to read the paper and there she is again - you cannot get away from her angry

I am sorry but the interview she has just done with Oprah Winfrey reminded me of Les Dawson doing his Cissie and Ada sketches.

... grin grin

You made me LOL!

I would imagine her agents are getting her to promote herself... she's 'big bucks' and they get a nice chunk of her "obscene" earnings. Striking whilst the iron's hot, so to speak.

The entertainment industry is a business like any other business and as long as people are prepared to pay to hear her in concert or buy / stream her recordings, she'll continue to get rich.

And if the tabloids are anything to go by, we are a bit of a celebrity-obsessed nation, lapping up all the details of their lives - even the mundane bits.

I've often noticed on social media - Facbook in particular - that any column inches about a celebrity's exploits attracts hundreds, often thousands, of comments; yet an article about something that affects all our lives, like social care or the NHS, only has a handful of comments.

Bread and Circuses.

I only saw her once on TV, can't remember what or where but it was a large concert hall. Her language was appalling and I have never liked her or her music since.

That would have been The Albert Hall.
I remember it well. She was a potty mouth!
Her latest single is awful!

I thought she looked a lot better before her ‘beautification’ I like her voice but have no desire to hear about her woes I ve had enough of my own

Think she has a nice voice but would not listen to her music, it’s a bit depressing for me. Her recent pictures look ridiculous, she is so false and she looked better before.

I much prefer Meghan.
So much more class, I think. wink

I remember being shocked at her language between songs in the Royal Albert Hall of all places, has she no respect? She spoke like a real street girl in such an illustrious place, it made me cringe with embarrassment because she was English and letting the side down. I decided she was not for me from that day.

Janet Street-Porter has really nailed all the nonsense of Adele's vacuous self-promotion and soul searching:

... yes, she has nailed it.

It seems like Adele has become another celebrity 'brand' instead of a singer of songs.

Is she helping others by telling-all though? Do people relate to her anguish? Do they feel less-alone knowing that those in the celebrity world suffer, too? I'm not against such celebrities being honest... but not sure we need to know the minute details.

MissAdventure Tue 16-Nov-21 01:18:26

Yes, I expect some people do relate to her anguish, actually.
There is one of her songs I can't listen to because it makes me cry.
Just the same as countless other songs have had an effect on countless other people over the years.

I used to like her once upon a time, until I heard her vile language, now I cannot stand her.

Careful, bumpy road ahead

MissAdventure Wed 17-Nov-21 12:31:49

I prefer the road less traveled, sometimes. wink

I bought the first CD she did. I've listened to other stuff of hers and thought it all sounded quite miserable. I much preferred Amy Winehouse, particularly in her early days.

Me too Kim

I like her, and her voice, and her songs, even the new one. I think she’s very talented. smile I don’t watch much television or read any magazines though, so I’ve missed all the (over) exposure.
