I'm wondering how others feel about this billboard advert in our local supermarket car park please? Am I over-reacting because I don't like the example it sets to our grandchildren?

But its raised awareness of the brand. There will be plenty of people wither congratulating or complaining about the advert.

Many companies have indulged in shock adverts to do their job. Some work, some don't.

But the advert itself is to raise awareness. Which it has done. I doubt very much I'd have heard of this company had it to been for GN. I'm sure this discussion is ongoing on different social media platforms.

..... and what an outburst of disgust there is when children use bad language, and here it being used as part of an advertisement!

Personally i think its encouraging foul language.

But its raised awareness of the brand

Nobody is going to remember it in a month’s time.

Nannan2 Thu 27-Jan-22 11:39:51

No.dont like it at all.Dont even know what its advertising and would it not cause a few car accidents while drivers slow to read it...even in a car park...?

Raising awareness of a brand is not necessarily a goos thing, some people will think the ad so stupid they will avoid the brand.

^But it's done its job. It has people talking about it.^

It hasn’t done its job if it’s put people off. Will anybody actually remember what this was supposed to be advertising?

Good grief

Bit of a weird advert, still grabbing everyone's attention so doing it's job!
I think children are likely to hear worst in the streets as there are so many people that can't string a sentence together without using the F word.
I have always said that advertising executives are not only detached from reality, but have a weird sense of humour - my brother in law is a classic case and runs his own agency!

Good grief indeed Fanny.

Sago

Remember French Connection UK?
There were T shirts with slogans such as FCUK like a bunny,I saw girls as young as 12 wearing these clothes.
Our daughter thankfully hated anything like that!

I once saw someone with a t-shirt in Norway (where Cnut is a name - Canute obviously in English) saying "FCUK, clothes for CNUTs"

I find it mildly amusing, given that the company's name is Lamb & Co. If it had been an advert for Bloggs, Spink & Merriweather, I'd have found it more tedious.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 27-Jan-22 12:10:35

As they are estate agents I wonder how it will affect their business? I wouldn’t use them. I bet a lot of older people wouldn’t.

Beswitched Thu 27-Jan-22 12:11:09

It's childish and crass and wouldn't make me want to give them business.

We often drive past this pub (one of the best in Derbyshire).

Its sign always makes me smile, but it must instigate some very awkward child / parent conversations!

Feeling dense today …why a picture of a horse ? I’m embarrassed

Grannybags Thu 27-Jan-22 12:27:19

I didn't get it either Lucca!

FannyCornforth Thu 27-Jan-22 13:11:27

Horses are notoriously ‘well hung’

It’s also why Trigger in Only Fools is so called

But its raised awareness of the brand. There will be plenty of people wither congratulating or complaining about the advert.

Has it though? I had a look to see what it was meant to be advertising but totally missed the 'who'. Like many ads I see on TV. I wonder if many other posters looked as far as who the ad was for?

A county pub near where I grew up. Its been called that since I was a child but the traffic lady on the local radio won't say the name of the pub although its a local landmark, because she thinks it's rude grin

Fanny - the things you know!!! grin

AreWeThereYet Thu 27-Jan-22 13:16:20

Thank you Alegrias - now I know the 'who' ?

Just goes to show really that we're all attracted to different things. I was a bit surprised it was seen as such a good ad - it looks like something someone came up with in desperation.

I may be sad but I went to look at their Facebook page. They've got a whole sheep/flock/ewe thing going on, and the sheep in the advert is called Woolson. They call the people who work for them the flock.

I quite like it now grin

Sorry, cross post AreWeThereYet

FannyCornforth Thu 27-Jan-22 13:23:24

Alegrias Roger Lloyd Pack, who played Trigger was in a few porn films as a younger man.
I think that it was a reference to this!

What is going to be their next advertising gambit?

How about
‘Buy a house from us, you stupid baaa - stards’ ?? ?

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 27-Jan-22 13:39:59

Brilliant Fanny!!!???

Bellanonna Thu 27-Jan-22 13:41:36

I like that, FC !

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 27-Jan-22 13:46:44

I think Fanny should go into advertising.
