To think that Kurt Zouma should be banned from keeping animals after abusing his cat?

Just that really.

I know someone who used to be a (hobby) cat breeder and had trouble with local kids who poisoned/killed a couple of their cats.

They involved the rspca who, because they couldn't 'prove exactly' which youth had done it, prosecuted them for not keeping their cats safe (despite them being on their property, in a locked pen and behind 2 locked gates).

The rspca seized this person's cats, went to court 9 months later, asked the court to make the breeder pay boarding fees for 14 cats for 9 months and to give them a ban. Fortunately the boarding fees weren't upheld but a fine and a ban for 5yrs was imposed.

This was a respectable breeder who followed all legislation and GCCF (cat version of Kennel Club) rules and did absolutely nothing wrong.

When I look at the abuse that Zouma committed, then compare it with this breeder, imo he deserves, at the very least, the same punishment handed down to the breeder.

The fact that he is a famous footballer should not mean that he or his pets should be treated any differently to the rest of us. His pets deserve to be treated with respect (the same as yours and mine) and he deserves to be punished in exactly the same way as anyone else would be.

Thoughts..

Farzanah

I do agree with you FannyC it’s what humans are like and of course I am no better.
However as a carnivore I am currently wrestling with my conscience about eating other sentient beings, and I have become more aware of our double standards.
Shinamae. I am struggling with the idea that breeding animals purely to feed us is not cruel.

I agree with you and have watched some absolutely awful videos filmed secretly in slaughter houses. I have also seen documentaries of how China treats their animals, skinning them alive, the Yulin festival, so I have not got my head in the sand about animal cruelty.. I have signed many petitions and donate to many animal charities, lately the pangolin and the bears kept in cages to extract bile. So I am not saying that it is not cruel but this thread particularly is about that awful footballer and his cruelty to his pets

It’s also the fact that he’s a bloody role model and up to his neck in cash.
The optics are just awful.
And West Han thinking that they can just brush it under the carpet.
They have really misread the situation.
Meanwhile it is quite heartening to see how the vast majority of the public are reacting to this disgusting debacle

In truth though, he must have had loads of death threats etc
Animal cruelty + footballer x internet = ? ? ?

If anybody wants to send their own protest. This was mine I had no idea where the q came from!

I don’t know who Sir Mark Todd is but here’s a video of him whipping a terrified horse to force it into the water. This won’t get as much outrage as a footballer but let’s hope it gets some attention.
I hope he will get similar fines/outrage/RSPCA investigations as ongoing for Kurt Zouma.

I don’t know who Sir Mark Todd is

Me neither and I doubt many young people have ever heard of him either so that is rather a red herring. If the RSPCA or horse world think it needs to be dealt with it will.

Zouma is a famous footballer, a role model for youngsters and he and his brother were laughing as they abused the cat - then thought it would be fun to post the evidence on social media as if they were proud of themselves.

Presumably this Todd low life is part of the “horse world”. Maybe by circulating this sort of video something will get done. Lots of laughing in the background on this video so he was getting support.

CoolCoco Sun 13-Feb-22 14:03:13

That ghastly woman punching her horse got sacked so that's something. I don't get this "role model" stuff, it is just as cruel whether this guy was a footballer or not.

Perhaps they were hoping the horse would throw him into the water!

This Todd person is a New Zealander and lives over there.
It happened years ago, apparently.

In the meantime - should Zouma play today or be suspended or sacked?

Callistemon21 Sun 13-Feb-22 14:08:31

He (Todd) said: 'I wholeheartedly apologise to the horse

The horse said, it's ok, next time I'll throw you off.

He’s not playing, or on the bench.

love0c Sun 13-Feb-22 16:48:45

I seem to remember the teacher lost her job and the family had to go int hiding after being filmed hotting her horse? I do not see why he should keep his job just because he is famous??!!

MissAdventure Sun 13-Feb-22 16:49:25

He has pulled out of the Leicester game on Tuesday, apparently, as he isn't well.
Poor little soldier.

Zoejory Sun 13-Feb-22 16:53:12

Yes, I think he's done the job Moyes should have done. He should not be playing.

Can't understand a word of that chanting. Probably for the best.

MissAdventure Sun 13-Feb-22 16:54:07

grin

Zoejory Sun 13-Feb-22 16:54:37

The reason he is keeping his job is WH paid 30 million for him. So I guess they want their money's worth. Moyes seems to be totally tone deaf and as for Karen Brady. She refers to this cat kicking as if it was a minor error of judgement.

Gongoozler Sun 13-Feb-22 17:04:21

I just read from The Sun online that Zouma is an Ambassador for a charity against big cat abuse! A bit ironic isn’t it?

lavendermine Sun 13-Feb-22 17:14:58

Well I really wish the horse had tipped Todd off into the water. What a creep he is.

Sarnia Sun 13-Feb-22 18:48:34

The RSPCA have said today that they have no plans in place to re-educate Zouma and have not yet received any money from West Ham. I don't know about anyone else but do people need to be 'educated' to not kick a cat?
