To think that Kurt Zouma should be banned from keeping animals after abusing his cat?

Just that really.

I know someone who used to be a (hobby) cat breeder and had trouble with local kids who poisoned/killed a couple of their cats.

They involved the rspca who, because they couldn't 'prove exactly' which youth had done it, prosecuted them for not keeping their cats safe (despite them being on their property, in a locked pen and behind 2 locked gates).

The rspca seized this person's cats, went to court 9 months later, asked the court to make the breeder pay boarding fees for 14 cats for 9 months and to give them a ban. Fortunately the boarding fees weren't upheld but a fine and a ban for 5yrs was imposed.

This was a respectable breeder who followed all legislation and GCCF (cat version of Kennel Club) rules and did absolutely nothing wrong.

When I look at the abuse that Zouma committed, then compare it with this breeder, imo he deserves, at the very least, the same punishment handed down to the breeder.

The fact that he is a famous footballer should not mean that he or his pets should be treated any differently to the rest of us. His pets deserve to be treated with respect (the same as yours and mine) and he deserves to be punished in exactly the same way as anyone else would be.

Thoughts..

I hope so too. I did read in the week that he was going to play him. What a manager Moyes is, unbelievable.

(Just tried to post before on here and got an "Apache Tomcat" message! What on earth that is I have no idea).

It seems as though something is going on to try to derail this thread. We need to keep shouting about this….?see my post above..

I really hoped that at the end of the recent apprentice Lord sugar would turn to Brady and say those immortal words “YOU’RE FIRED!! (Never going to happen I know but a nice thought) ?

STILL not trending!!

Smileless2012 Sat 19-Feb-22 10:33:05

It's trending Shinamae which is why I'm back on.

Good that he's had the cats taken off him but bloody awful to think that for some, football is so important it's more important than animal welfare.

Shinamae Sat 19-Feb-22 10:34:39

It is now but it’s taken three attempts to get it trending. I really want to keep this thread alive but I suppose it will die a natural death and I’m not even the OP!..

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Feb-22 10:44:01

Shinamae this is a regular occurrence.

It is so frustrating.

I have reported it to HQ and also emailed them.

They also responded on a thread about it.

Their first response was to deny that it was happening at all.

Then they said that I didn’t know how the Active List worked; saying that if threads weren’t posted on, they naturally dropped off the list.

I explained that I fully understood this, and stressed that the Active List does not work properly.
No further responses!

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Feb-22 10:45:46

It’s still not showing on the Active List.
I had to look on the ‘I’m On’ place to find the thread this morning

Smileless2012 Sat 19-Feb-22 10:47:17

Maybe we need to keep popping on, even it it's just with a wave or smiley face to keep it 'up there'.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Feb-22 10:47:23

It’s top of the list! ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 19-Feb-22 10:57:46

David Moyes has picked Kurt Zouma to play today, as a lifelong West Ham supporters I am disgusted.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Feb-22 11:00:52

I bet that you are GGenvy

Do you think that fans will stop buying season tickets etc?
Will it have a long term affect on West Ham, what’s the general feeling there?
Thank you!

He hasn’t had a good reception from fans when he has appeared on the pitch, last game (or could have been the one before) he was in the line up, was boo’d loudly and apparently he began to feel unwell and consequently didn’t play.

There are a few young lads that I know who think he should play as football is everything to them, but the rest of the supporters I have spoken to think he should be suspended and sold.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Feb-22 11:42:24

Thank you, that’s good (about most people)
He felt ‘unwell’ hmm
I bet the other players are not too chuffed either. I bet that he’s put a lot of unnecessary pressure onto them too.
As I said earlier, I imagine that he’ll be getting lots of threats etc.
I wonder if he has protection?

Shinamae Sat 19-Feb-22 11:42:36

Suspended and sold to me is a very light punishment, I can think of a lot of punishments I’d like to give him but I would probably end up in jail myself ?

Thanks for that information Fanny..

Totally agree, I am sure I read somewhere that if/when he returns to France he is likely to be prosecuted, with a sentence of up to four years if found guilty.

FannyCornforth Sat 19-Feb-22 11:51:10

Shinamae I half watched a program a couple of weeks ago.
It was either US or Australian based. It was called Animal Rescue something or other.
Anyway, they had a special police department who deal with animal cruelty.
There was a man who had been abusing his cats. They found DNA evidence in his flat (the cats’ blood) and he was arrested and put on trial.
Why can’t we do this?
This country is crap

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 19-Feb-22 11:52:27

There was talk of him being dropped from the French team, I didn’t hear anything more about that.

The problem is that people forget. One only has to look at how we reacted during the pandemic. And the furore with people not sticking to rules. Including the government. Partygate. Which even now is losing steam.

I am in the civil service. I work with many left leaning colleagues. Young people. I have 5 adult children who we see regularly.

Partygate was massive but now I only ever see people complaining about in on GN and in the Daily Mail comments. Yes, I do read the Mail. Along with most other news websites.

The public are fickle. We go from one drama to another and barely remember the last one.

Zouma will play and people will get over their outrage. Not that I would, I'd like to see him and Moyes sacked, but the sad fact is that we just seem to get addicted to a drama and then move on to the next one.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 19-Feb-22 12:30:14

I wouldn’t call this outrage being ‘addicted to a drama’. That demeans what happened and our response to it.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 19-Feb-22 12:34:02

Blimey Zoejury if you think people being outraged at a sportsman abusing his pet cats is akin to being addicted to drama I am totally lost for words…

lavendermine Sat 19-Feb-22 13:05:55

Zoejury what a ridiculous post - "addicted to drama" - words fail me.

lavendermine Sat 19-Feb-22 13:10:38

He's on - part of the line up - back 4. Unbelievable!
Moyes should be sacked (just read he has told him to concentrate on the game and get over this!!) The man is a disgrace.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 19-Feb-22 13:15:26

Despicable.
