White stuff have lots of bright and cheerful clothes. Not sure how big their sizes go though.
Some of White Stuff go up to a size 24.
I love their clothes. Good quality.
AIBU to think that as we age we get bored with clothes etc., due to having seen it all before? I'm currently looking for a dress to wear as a guest at a wedding in August. Granted I'm a bit of a chubster, so choices are more limited, but I have yet to see anything that I've thought, 'oh wow, that's lovely'. Everything seems to be drab, or frumpy in my opinion, but is it just me? Is it because over the years I've seen so many styles and fashions come and go, in all the colours of the rainbow, and have just become bored with them? Or is it because I'm fat, and clothes just don't look as good on me as they used to? If anyone knows of any websites that sell NICE, brightly coloured dresses, for plus sizes, other than the normal ones, like 'Yours', 'Simply Be', 'Evans', etc. which I've already perused to death, then please let me know. I'm looking for a size 20/22 if that helps.

Gudrun goes up to size 22/24 - and they have some lovely colourful and different/unusual dresses etc.
I hope I never get bored with clothes (bags, shoes or handbags)
It is harder to look nice the larger you are, unless you’re super confident with a good eye for things that suit you in which case you can look stunning.
How about a bright multi coloured longish tunic with white leggings and a huge fascinator?
Try Popsy they have plenty of bright dresses
I always have success with JJs House.

Why do people think that weddings require new clothes?
Even when I was mother of the groom, I wore something for a special occasion that I had bought a year or two before and worn only a couple of times. new top and shoes and a bit of braid. Had I ever been mother of the bride, I would have acted no differently.
It’s the footwear I have trouble with. Since I had plantar fasciitis, and later broke a toe, I stick with flat, supportive shoes, with socks( and trousers) . But last year white trainers came in, so I was able to wear them with dresses. But not for a wedding. I’d have to find some sandals,I suppose.

Because it’s fun to try and choose new things if you enjoy clothes? There’s nothing nicer than a new outfit that really suits you and you feel good in. I know that’s not the case for everybody, but it’s how I feel anyway.

Scarlett and Jo online have some beautiful dresses made for larger ladies. A couple of years ago I bought a lovely long dress for my daughters wedding. It has a very clever banding under the bust then floats out hiding bumps and tum. Reasonably priced too about £80
I second the recommendation for Scarlett and Jo. Lovely dresses made for the larger ladies. Very flattering style.
The only problem I have with them is that their midi length is maxi on me because I’m only 5’ 1”. Well worth a look though.
I did think the other day, as the weather got warmer, that I should throw out all but a few pieces of clothing I actually like and a few which are comfortable to wear at home.
Then I panic because I don't see anything I particularly like in the shops/online at the moment except more of the same that I'd be throwing out.
I need help!

I didn't have anything that was suitable for a mother of the bride nor of the groom.
Are you anywhere near a John Lewis shop? The personal shopping assistants are great. The appointment with a stylist is free and takes a whole load of stress out choosing the right outfit for a wedding.
My clothes are mainly Joe Brown's with a bit of Sea Salt and M&S. Mostly bought on EBay or in the sales. I'm an 18 and go for trousers or long skirts or maxi dresses. Can't wear heels now so I look for bright coloured flats. I like the fact that, at my age, no one can tell me what to wear.

Have you tried Patra?
I've only bought a couple of tops from them but everyone says how nice they look whoever I wear them.
Whenever - not whoever.
I was looking for a mother of the groom outfit last year , I’m size 20
The kids booked me in for a personal shopper in JL
She had 2 blouses and one pair of trousers , I never was so fed up . They were a fortune !
I did wear the blouse and trousers , at the wedding , but they have been at the back of the wardrobe ever since !
I too am bored with clothes. I'm quite small but even so nothing makes me go Wow or inspires me any more. I really do agree with the OP, it's because I've worn so many styles and colours over the decades that it all now looks like the same old, same old. I'd happily wear a burkha.
Sorry you had a bad experience, Aggie. Both times I had a rail full of clothing waiting for me in a private suite-type place, where I could sit down and rest in between trying different things on. You can specify a budget. The stylist contacts you beforehand to discuss your needs.
I do not work for JL, btw!
Woolywoman Yes there was a rail of clothes waiting for me , sadly they were all dresses with floaty coats in very pretty pale silky material ! In February?
She took one look at me and wheeled it away ,
I don’t think I’m that ugly 🤷♀️
My Daughter was with me , she managed very well and got several lovely outfits ,
I’m sorry , I didn’t mean to imply they were not a good idea , but just that it didn’t work for me
No worries, Aggie! Digressing wildly… I never forget meeting a woman in a lift at JL. We must have looked at each other and smiled rather wearily. She then came out with the wonderfully funny comment “I seem to have lost the art of browsing!” We both laughed and it still makes me smile now.
She looked lovely and stylish somehow!

Casdon I totally agree with everthing your wrote, but I cannot see how it is relevant to what I posted.
I'm size 18/20 and getting shorter. I love browsing websites for clothing and finding bargains. I've a lovely pair of wide leg trousers half price from George at Asda. Had to chop 3 inches off the bottoms. But they are so comfortable and they have been admired every time I've worn them. For a wedding they would look great with a silky black top and a long floaty jacket. I think the Asian look of a longish tunic with narrow trousers is great as well, add a long scarf for drama. You can also wear flat glittery shoes, no need for heels.
The trouble with lots of clothes for "larger ladies" (and maybe for smaller ones but I'm not looking at those) is the horrible frumpyness offered to us for more formal events - or, alternatively wafty synthetics.
I wear a lot of linen and have a couple of nice linen Chesca outfits that work for "events" some linen and one a Jersey (but not a polyester) dress.
Maybe you should try doing what I did for my daughter's wedding and buy one thing you really love even if you haven't seen it as an "outfit" yet- I bought a chunky cotton lace coat which was expensive (for me) but truly lovel..
And then, over a few months I found things I liked that would just show it off but which I'd wear again. I bought slim ankle length trousers and smart (wide fit) shoes and a smart but simple top (obviouslythis was only seen as a background to the lace). I only bought things I knew I'd be happy to wear later. The coat was the star of the show and appears in all the "main" photos but later it was off and I was totally relaxed without anything fussy going on.
I have tried Bombshell dresses which are always lovely from one angle but give me a "matronly" bust irrespective of the bra I wear. ..
Oh, and get your underwear first or everything will look less lovely!
Good luck. There will be something out there.
I have had no luck with John Lewis personal shoppers I'm afraid.
