To Think That As We Age ...

I had a moment of fellow feeling when I read the post, but on reflection I'm not bored with clothes - just with MY clothes.

WOW! I can't believe how many responses I've received to my post, so a HUGE thank you to everyone for their input.

I've only got to the bottom of page 2 so far, but have now had my eyes opened to several shops that I'd never even heard of, despite constant Google searches. I feel sure that with your help ladies, that I will find something suitable for the wedding, and possibly some new places to shop for other things too. Please keep ideas coming though.

Oh, and a big thank you to 'Cossy' for the link to 'Sumissara', I had no idea that you could actually get clothes made to measure without paying a king's ransom these days.

Also thank you to 'Macadia' for the link to 'JJ's House', I've already seen a dress that I like the style of on their website, and the choice of colours is AMAZING!!

Gudrun Sjoden is good for colours and larger sizes

I have loads of her clothes and they also wash and wear really well. I have had people stop me in the street and ask where they are from so I guess I look OK.

I'd also suggest Scarlet and Jo, and there is a Facebook group selling secondhand ones, often people buy them for a wedding and then feel they can't wear them again as it's in all the pictures

I'm rather porky myself but get clothes that put a smile on my face from Gudrun Sjoden. - a bit Boho says my daughter. Well made, environmentally friendly and will last at least 10 years. Lovely colours and very comfy. 5' 8" size 18 and 72. The designer is short, fat. And looks my age. Happy hunting!

I don’t pay much attention to current fashions at all - TBH I find some of them - especially some more recent trouser styles - ugly and very unflattering. I generally stick to smart - or a bit smarter - casual - assorted trousers/jeggings and jumpers/tops.

Dressed-up do’s are thankfully very rare, but I do have a couple of things that will ‘pass’. For DD’s high summer wedding I wore a very simple linen dress, but it was a very informal do, and mostly out of doors.

I still love clothes especially since losing weight and discovering eBay

I recently bought a nice dress (jersey) from Roman. It can be difficult at the moment. Dresses have no sleeves, tiers which I hate or the material is horrible. I will only wear cotton. Next go to bigger sizes. Good luck!

I agree with GrannyG13. At 75 I still adore clothes and accessory shopping.

Jennie Murray only had black clothing but different scarves, that would send me into a downward spiral. I love clothes, good cut less not more, but I love colour and what you wear expresses your personality.

Allsorts i think Jennie Murray wore black all the time because she thought it hid her size.

I have a lot of larger people say that, and I have never understood it because dressing all in black makes you stand out, coloured scarf or no coloured scarf. much better to dress in different colours or mix of colours for different coours so that you break your size up.

I D Williams have a good range of dresses, all sizes, also Bonmarche have just introduced a range of ‘occasion’ dresses. If you are not the mother of the bride or groom a nice ‘day’ dress and jacket will be fine.
