That’s utterly disgraceful in both cases. I don’t care who they are, where they are from, this is completely unacceptable and should be dealt with and given as much attention of any other case of it’s kind.

A village outside our City has had a case of four men trying to abduct children, the Police were warned of this numerous times apparently, a local shopkeeper observed these men more than once and called 999.
The men got brave and tried to bundle a 9 year old girl into their car.
Thankfully a member of the public intervened.
These men are allegedly residing at an hotel locally with lots of other men.
They were arrested for the attempted abduction of 5 minors.
They have been released on conditional bail.
As they have no ID, no traceability and nothing to lose it’s very likely they will just disappear into the ether.
This has not been widely reported and apparently local people are furious.
Last year a local university hall of residence was used as accommodation for immigrants, local opposition was strong but it went ahead, a young girl was sexually assaulted, there was one news report and then it went quiet.
The men were all moved on.
No explanation……..just all gone.
Is this a common theme across the UK?
Why are we not allowed to talk about this?
Will our new government offer some transparency or will this just continue to be brushed under the carpet?

Darren Grimes, whoever he is, would do better to berate the movement who let the situation build up in prisons so that

I’m assuming you have a local link?
No wonder Sunak called an election in such a hurry.

Well - no one knows if it is the "hotel dwellers" - but it is important that it is fully investigated. If it is them, then they must be arrested.
I agree it needs to be thoroughly investigated and WHOEVER the perps are arrested.

Mmmm very interesting, especially as all we see in the media is that ALL asylum seekers arriving in boats are big grown up men!
All the newspaper reports read almost exactly the same (just read 5 including Local) with quotes from the police.
eg
www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/group-men-arrested-after-trying-33197640
There is no basis in any report about the background of the men. I'm appalled by some of the comments and assumptions made on this thread.
Overall stats: "There were approximately 1,122 child abduction offences recorded by the police in England and Wales in 2022/23, an increase when compared with the previous year."
I swear I read recently that 1 in 7 of all inmates in U.K. prisons were of a particular nationality, or national origin, if they subsequently been given U.K. citizenship.
But I won’t name it here, for pretty obvious reasons.
Witzend
There ard some statistics on foreign nationals in our prisons. I haven't seen the 1 in 7 figure anywhere.
Albanians outstrip the other
Immigrants and foreign nationals in our prison population. Last count there were 1273 people from Albania in our prisons which is 300 people more than the next highest, Poland, followed by Romania and Ireland (750 and 650 people).
UK prison population is about 95,000 by the way.

Bumface
Anybody who threatens the safety of women and children needs to be dealt with. To me it is irrelevant what nationality they are or their immigration status. Whoever they are they need to stopped.
Even after the business with Wayne Cozens and the subsequent revelations about other police officers, I still think the police are not taking the problem seriously enough. The Police not taking it seriously enough? They're part of the problem Bumface. Every single week without fail there's yet another one in the press for sexual crimes against women or deviant social media posts. Who needs to worry about illegal immigrants!
Are you agreeing with me or did you mis-read what I wrote?
That's the most recent actual report I could find too Callistemon21 - but it's from four years ago.
July 2020 so cannot have data beyond the end of 2019.
Where are the more recent reports I wonder?
I'm sure they used to be yearly when I worked with MAPPA.

The report I linked to is dated 8th July 2024 and states that it does include statistics from March 2024 I believe.
Wondering how many UK prisoners in prisons abroad....
Callistemon213 did you open it to read it?
I clicked on your link and it was 2020?
2020 being the report I'd found earlier - the same one I believe.
During the Napoleonic Wars, a French chasse-marée was wrecked in a storm off the coast of Hartlepool. The only survivor from the ship was a monkey, allegedly dressed in a French Army uniform to provide amusement for the crew. On finding the monkey on the beach, a group of locals decided to hold an impromptu trial. Because the monkey was unable to answer their questions, and because they had seen neither a monkey nor a Frenchman before, they concluded that the monkey must be a French spy. Being found guilty, the animal was duly sentenced to death and summarily hanged on the beach.

Wondering how many UK prisoners in prisons abroad....
I can't find up-to-date statistics but the numbers are quite low.
In 2023-24, Prisoners Abroad supported 1,156 British prisoners detained in 96 countries across the world, as well as 1,508 family members and friends. Our monthly statistics document gives further details about where we work

From the report:
Nationality of prisoners
England and Wales, at 31 March 2024

This alleged crime is frightening and very worrying, whatever the ethnicity of the perpetrators.
To contrast; some 15 years ago, on my way to drop my young son at his friend's house, I saw a young girl, about 3 years old, sitting on the edge of the kerb, playing with a doll. On her own, on the periphery of a small housing estate. With my son holding my hand, I asked her where she lived, she pointed to a house, I took her there, knocked and was told by her delightful mother to mind my own effing business. What an awful story, and I'm glad you returned the child to safety.
Although not too relevant to this thread, so I was wondering why you recounted it?
Yes, it was possibly irrelevant, but Iam64's post about her child walking home brought it to mind.

Darren Grimes is a right wing activist, founder of the junior Brexit group, is on GB news I think.
It is disingenuous to rail at Labour for 'letting prisoners out'. They have only been in government since last Friday, any releases from prison were sanctioned by the previous administration. We are all entitled to our opinions, but please do not give rumour and untruths as fact, it really doesn't help the discussion.
I don't think it's right to circulate lies on GN from X feeds. We're more responsible than that, surely?
I’ve started a separate thread on prisons. I wanted to challenge lies from X but didn’t want to take this thread onto sentencing rather than the constant threats to our children, largely by men
