I have stash and it is one of my life pleasures to add to my stash.
craftyone you sound such an interesting person i enjoy reading your posts.
My stash is edible.....
Wool- lots of ends of skeins of sock wool to be made into “scrappy socks” one day
Fabric- made a dress for my grandaughter this week with material that is at least 35 years old!
Ends of curtain material for probably every pair of curtains I have EVER made- don’t ask me why! Cushions??
Card & paper- come in useful for birthdays etc in the last few months!
But my biggest stash is glass! A shed full for glass fusing, but somehow you never have quite the right colour....
yes Crafty, stained glass is a beautiful hobby. I have taught my son and he has now taken it up and put in two stained glass windows in his shed. Looks lovely.
I benefited from someone else's stash! Friends (a young couple) moved into a house previously owned by an elderly woman who had died. They called me to come see ... boxes and boxes of thread, elastic, buttons, bias binding, fasteners of all descriptions. I was delighted to take it, sorted what I wanted to keep and donated the rest to the Fabric Art department of a local college. Everyone happy!
I'm quite disciplined, I do like a stash, but I have a small stash of knitting wool, and of course accessories.
Lockdown has unlocked in me a desire to embroider
so my embroidery yarn stash is growing. But how else would i be able to choose colours?

I have found some fabulous modern embroidery transfers on Etsy, currently stitching house plant designs on to a cushion cover.
That's all I want to do, I completely lose myself in the process. Who needs mindfulness when you have craftfulness?
stained glass, what a beautiful hobby. I saw some being made on tv
I was glad of my stash last night. Ripped out siri top down cardigan, didn`t like it and no short rows so the back neck would have been too low. Bought martin storey regan instead (ravelry) and needed sizes 3.25 and 3.75 straight needles, both of which I had in my needle stash
I did buy a little more to add to my fibre stash yesterday, I wanted to support a `local` small spinning company, john arbon. They were having their open day online, so I spent some money. I won`t stash that fibre away, I think I will spin it and stash it as yarn
While looking for the needles last night, I opened the hand made cupboard doors, floor to ceiling in a bedroom and admired my neatly labelled boxes of stash. It was a very satisfying moment
Because we do have guests, although not at the moment, mine is spread around - all tidily in boxes.
I should rationalise it all because a yarn stash can be invasive. It tends to multiply somehow.
Glass, containers full of different coloured glass for doing stained glass, along with a box of tools and lead. I even have an electric grinder for getting good edges on the glass. I would like a kiln but they are expensive. Plus two sewing machines for my sewing and boxes of material and stuff. Wool for my knitting Then we have drawing stuff and paper and books. Its stored in the spare bedroom, just like Shysal with no room for guests.
Yes, I too have a stash of yarn, but nothing near as much as I used to have when I used to tour around Yorkshire and visit lots of mill shops! I used to Crochet baby blankets and larger ones to use as throws around my home, each one colour co- ordinated to match the decor of the room!
My other stash is my favourite drink that I actually prefare to tea or coffee, Ribena light, no added sugar with Vit C. I get through about 4 large bottles a week, and tend to buy it when its on offer at the supermarket, like it is now, so I have a stash of about 14 bottles of the stuff, about 4 eeks supply, and have saved myself a pound on each bottle by buying it this way!
Oops!
Didn't realise that this thread was meant to be just for craft stuff stashing! I thought it was just general stashing.
I'll get me coat..............
In which case, no
This is like an AA meeting for crafters!
I've got frightening amounts of knitting wool, embroidery silks, fabrics and endless haberdashery items, but I am seeing this period as my one chance to use a good amount of it. Hand made cards and gifts for all the family this Christmas. (whether they want them or not).
I'm very glad I didn't get rid of my stash as I had intended last year.
Five or six big boxes of wool, one box of fabric and quilt batting.
I don't have a stash of anything, but my DH has a stash of Lloyd Grossman curry sauces! Every time they're on offer he buys a load. They're taking up all my cupboard space and I don't even like bloody curry!
I have stash! Managed to use up almost all of my wool stash during lock-down, but still have far far far too much card-making stuff and a fair amount of fabric I bought ages ago full of good intentions.
Actually got around to cutting out fleece jackets for the DGC last week so when the sun goes I'll probably head upstairs and get them done.
Funny you should say that! DH was just asking me today why I keep piles of worn out clothing to cut up for making rag rugs when I haven’t had any of the rug making stuff out for over a year! I promised I would “do something about it”!
My biggest stash by far is all my fly tying stuff in the garage - tools, vices, boxes of hooks, silk threads, varnishes, whole capes of game bird feathers, different kinds of fur and hair (it occurred to me recently that I missed a trick throwing away all the hair that I’m sweeping off the bathroom floor when I kid myself I can cut my own!) and glittery artificial material that fish are not supposed to be able to resist (?yeah, right!). And then there are the boxes of flies resulting from all this labour of love.......!
Ah! Forgot the quilting stuff..... old shirts and bed sheets torn into strips for the Manx Log Cabin quilt that is 1/3rd finished.
A needle felting kit to make a fox.
Crochet hooks galore, which I've got in the divine hope that one day, I'll actually master how to actually do it.
Feeling a bit uncomfortable about all this stuff now I've seen it written down.
Framilode
And on that note, I must go and do something useful.
Like open a bottle of
I always have a stash of wine.
Although my only craft is card making the stash mounts up. During lockdown I have managed to get rid of. Sorry, donate, a lot of it to a local support group who distribute it to the many children who need occupation. Win-win.
I was going to do the cross stitch kits I bought years ago with all good intentions but thought I'd use up the yarn stash first
I'd usually buy them from a shop or charity shop, never bought online before. Someone also lent him some.
The thing is, once he starts one he doesn't get much else done!
The Yorkshire Jigsaw Company were good and had stock.
hehe, this is certainly making me giggle, reading about stash all over the place. I used to be sucked into qvc cardmaking kits and ended up with all sorts of everything to make cards. We decided to move and I sold a lot via ebay and gave an equal amount to oxfam. I still have some of the cards I made
I also collected bucilla craft kits and made several christmas stockings and managed to give them away.
Those of us with crafting and arty stash, we are the lucky ones, something to do every day, something that makes us happy in lockdown.
Before I moved house I drastically cut my craft stash down to a more reasonable amount but nevertheless I've still got:
Enough knitting yarn to knit jumpers for me and the grandchildren until they start university. They're 3 and 7 now.
Papercrafting stuff that fills an entire wall of shelves.
Cross stitch fabrics, threads, hoops and assorted paraphernalia that if I live to 100, I'll never get time to complete.
Tapestry kits, fabrics, yarns and stretchers.
Fabrics for re upholstery and dressmaking projects - enough to fill a storage chest and more
China painting equipment but no kiln to fire them in
I'll start on it all one day.....
Callistemon I noticed Amazon private sellers seemed to up their jigsaw prices 3-fold immediately people began shielding in early March.
