I was told, a very long time ago, that I was not very good at art. In fact just to prove the point I failed art O level!
Recently, I have gone back to doodling. Would love some feed back. Many thanks. ?

M0ira you're more than a doodler!
As other's have said join a small art group, or classes, you'll enjoy it.
Or why not retake your O-Level?
I took A-Level Art when I was in my 40s (I wasn't allowed to take O or A at school, long story), I was the oldest in the class and got the highest marks throughout the course. I only did it to prove to myself that I could.

Strangely enough I very rarely draw or paint now, sewing has taken over, but I always carry a small sketch book and pencils with me. I have loads of little books of quick sketches that I intended to use at some point. Someday perhaps.....

I was always rubbish at art, Moira - our art teacher would write just one word on my reports - ‘Weak’.
So I’m full of admiration for your ‘doodlings’!

Lovely work, I wish I could doddle like that. I got my friend to do my Art homework at school.

Lovely work Moira, especially the hair.

I hadn't done any sketching for years , although done lots of other crafts. I did this of my granddaughter a few weeks ago.

Our eldest gd (age 13) just did this.

I do not have artistic bone in my body but I think it's good.

Definitely talented.

I always wanted to be able to draw. But I couldn't. I don't think it's something you can learn either. You've either got it or you haven't. And you have it Moira

I m a bit of a doodler too this is a doodle I did from a photograph I took

BlueBelle Thu 07-Apr-22 20:10:55

Oh dear I ve killed this thread dead I think

MissAdventure Thu 07-Apr-22 20:13:40

I think it's a stunned silence at your talent, BlueBelle.
You hide your light under a bushell, that's for sure.
The little christmas stones you posted a pic of once are just lovely, too. smile

I love all the pictures . So many talented artists, here. I have always wanted to paint watercolours.

My only claim to fame is that at the age of twelve, I had a painting of Glasgow Central Staion Concourse, displayed in the local museum and art gallery.
It was downhill after that. ?

I actually prefer your little landscape MOira I love the colours you used. The portraits show some lovely pencil work and I'm sure you would find a good art group helpful. Definitely don't stop now.

BlueBelle Thu 07-Apr-22 20:39:41

Thank you MissA I often kill threads dead though ??

BlueBelle Thu 07-Apr-22 20:45:21

This is a card I did for my granddaughters birthday as she likes seahorses

I love the sketches already pictured emmasnan moira I don’t often show mine as I never am satisfied but got a bit brave today ?

MissAdventure Thu 07-Apr-22 20:47:00

Ooh you are clever, Bluebelle.
I love that.

Happysexagenarian Thu 07-Apr-22 21:02:46

BlueBelle I love your sketch. Will you create a painting from it?

It's the kind of sketching I like to do (or used to do), I also like pen and wash. All this talk of art is making my fingers itch to start again!

Nope, I must get on with the six quilts I need to make this year!

BlueBelle Thu 07-Apr-22 21:16:16

No I won’t colour it happy I like pencil I do some painting (not enough there’s more in my head than on the paper) but I feel so much more in control of a pencil or fine pen
But when I do a bit of painting it’s either acrylics or water colours
I might show you some one day but moira have you any more for us to see ?

Beautiful work ladies!

Just do it. Honestly, there are people who have said nasty things in the past. But, where is that art teacher now? Did she ever make art herself or just teach children to fail their o levels and feel bad about themselves?

I have a motto. "Use what you have, where you are". Life is short and there will always be someone who doesn't like what you do, but do it anyway because it's your life and it's for the living. flowers The only people critiquing you, will be the ones who aren't thriving or using their own creativity- and they need pity.

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 21:01:56

Hello there.
I cant paint at all, but would love to see any pics of your art, if you want to show it? smile

AreWeThereYet Wed 11-May-22 21:10:04

I'm not an artist, just a peeping tom - lovely pictures from everyone.

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 21:23:12

I have a half painted tree, a weird looking mermaid, and a buddha type in my art portfolio.

CanadianGran Wed 11-May-22 22:06:34

Lovely work, everyone! I fool around with drawing and watercolours. I do think it exercises your brain and makes you look at things closely. I enjoy ink and wash drawings.

I will try to post a picture later.

MissAdventure Wed 11-May-22 22:08:21

Oh yes please. smile
