Apparently it is to cheer everyone up after all the miserable world events.

I love them all, the cat was so well done I thought, but I love the pelicans stealing the fish shops fish😄

Hope there is more to come

They are fabulous, love the zoo one today.

Wyllow3 Tue 13-Aug-24 13:51:35

I hope they let it stay awhile.

The latest Banksy is on a shutter at London Zoo. It depicts a gorilla appearing to roll up the shutter to let other animals out.

Chestnut The works you have shown would not have been made overnight, in darkness. Those artists would have had time to make and perfect their images.

Our local one referred to domestic violence.
The Banksy depicted a woman with a black eye and missing teeth putting the body of someone (?) into a freezer.

I believe he was using a scaffold type vehicle, there was a photo of this at one of the sites of a new Banksy last week .

It's called a cherry picker.

🙂 I'll have to stop looking them up but was tempted to post this last one - "political" in the best way.

Chocolatelovinggran Tue 13-Aug-24 13:15:32

Quite right, Wyllow!

(not criticising CLG, just adding a thought)

I think that the goal of Banksy's work is to make you think. It's not about the quality of the product.

Quality is in the concept as well as the execution. He's a very skilled artist but choses to work in a variety of ways.

another one thought provoking but a light touch.

This x 100
I love his work and enjoy thinking about the 'hidden meaning'

I think it's lovely to have the landscapes (and you do get some) as well as Banksy.

This is one of my favourite Banksy, tho not graffiti. Thoughtful.

I absolutely loathe the usual graffiti plastered all over inner city walls. Hideous looking tat. I would really love it if they painted beautiful landscapes, and the city walls were covered in mountains, trees, lakes, rivers and flowers. Even animals and insects. Just imagine how lovely that would look in a horrible concrete jungle and it would cheer everyone up.

He’s been around for 25 years.

Yes, but there doesn’t seem to be the same enthusiasm for the newer graffiti artists.

I just don't really rate those stencils at all. But these make me smile. So clever and so skilled.

I know it won’t show the pictures, but I wanted to say I agree with you chestnut although I do rate Banksy I think these are incredible….

Jaxjacky Tue 13-Aug-24 10:38:49

I like the way his art pops up all over the place and is often unpredictable as well as occasionally very apt.

Nice new one! Most apt so I hope they leave it up. My favourites are still the chip shops and the booth with fishes swimming.

Mollygo Tue 13-Aug-24 10:28:52

Let him be. All graffiti artists have to start somewhere. I like some and not others.
I’ve seen some really memorable trompe l’oeil graffiti in Portugal and France. Perhaps Banksy could do some of that too.

I love all kinds of street art, and Banksy is great. I often wonder how he manages to do it, - in the middle of the night presumably. Long may he continue. It cheers us up.
I don't think I have to love him, I just really do....strange comment.

Kandinsky Tue 13-Aug-24 09:23:20

I find his art a bit ‘"Emperor's New Clothes’ - people say they love him because they think they have to, he’s seen as ‘cool & relevant’ - he’s been stencilling for around 25 years now so a bit last century.
I only like about 2 or 3 of his offerings - the rest? I’ve seen better graffiti on kids school books.
