Crochet instructions from hell!

I was just about to start a thread on crochet instructions-how serendipitous! I've crocheted happily for many years following written instructions, now there seems to be a move to diagrams which I actually find more difficult to follow. Anyone else finding this?

I've crochet for nearly 60 years and I still don't understand instructions. I just see the image in my head, or look at a photo, works for me.
Good luck with your creations!

Hi everyone! I've been diving into the world of handmade bracelets and experimenting with creative designs and techniques. If you're into crafting bracelets too, visit my site, Crafted Creations Hub: craftedcreationshu.wixsite.com/crafted-creations. I post tips, inspiration, and ideas for fellow creators. What materials or styles do you enjoy working with? Let's exchange thoughts!

This looks like its a cheap and cheerful kit made to be exported to many countries but nobody wanted the expense of writing the pattern in many languages.

If you can hook a growing circle starting from a short chain joined with a slip stitch or magic loop you can do this!

You have two polystyrene balls, one larger for the body and a smaller one for the head.

Start with the body. In red, hook a circle increasing each round to almost the circumference of the large ball, add a round of black (not increasing) then go back to red and start decreasing the circle to with a few rounds of the end of the ball (see pic 20). Then switch to pink and in a similar fashion create an increasing circle then decreasing for the head.

The arms look like a tiny circle then work straight (no increasing) until you have sausage shapes.

The hat looks like a small circle to start, work straight for a few rounds then increase outwards. Then two rows in white for the edging.

The beard is just a flat shape increasing or decreasing either end depending on which way up you want to work it.

Frustrating as it is, one you understand the structure, this becomes a scaleable project if say you had larger size balls (stop giggling at the back) or just wanted to stuff Santa!

Or just stuff the whole project and make something else!

Apparently there are no written instructions. The little pictures look like they are no help whatsoever. After you make your magic ring, how many single crochet do you put into it.
I'm afraid I would use the yarn for something else. YouTube has many tutorials for Santa Clause ornaments.

Are there no written instructions?

I have just bought ( for very little money luckily) a little Christmas decoration kit. The instructions are ridiculous. Can anyone advise?!
