We live on an over 55s complex and have relatively new neighbours (3 months). The thing is, their bedroom is next to our lounge and I can hear everything when they are having sex. They go to bed much earlier than us. We live in a very small bungalow and there is no other room where I can't hear it.I find it embarrassing that I am privy to such personal sounds but don't know what to do about it. Turning the telly up doesn't really mask it!!

Over 55 and up to 90+years old!. Just curious, how old is this lucky woman?.
Best way to keep fit I say.
Maybe you're just a bit envious Zengram??.

I wonder if their relationship is new, that extreme pleasure usually goes out of the window after a time - when boredom sets in!

I like the idea of clapping, as well! Sound slike (no pun intended) they are something of exhibitionists?! They surely must realise the thinness of the walls as they must hear noise from your side as well! (I mean the tele or radio, not anything untoward! wink

I like the idea of clapping!!!

Clapping sounds good

I like the idea of a fanfare - like the ones they play when a Ryanair flight lands on time.

Good for them! ?? I wish we were up to it 2 or 3 times a week these days! There are many sounds I don't like to hear, but sounds indicating love and happiness are not amongst them. I'm sorry, but I don't believe that turning up your TV isn't enough. If that were the case, they would have to be having 'swinging from the light fittings' sex and given their ages, I seriously doubt that's the case. Lighten-up for heaven sake!

Go with the peaceful methods, though I love Ninathe nana and Eleggrans suggestion and would probably try them.

`We had neighbours both school teachers, who were into sub and Dom relationship he would whip her. We could overhear their sessions. Whilst I was at work my wife told the lady we could hear them and it sounded painful. She assured my wife it was a wonderful marriage they had and she suggested my wife join them.

Jalima Wed 02-Nov-16 13:46:59

sounds indicating love and happiness have quite a wide scope!

Janet14 Wed 02-Nov-16 14:03:32

Why not ask if you can join in?

gettingonabit Wed 02-Nov-16 14:04:25

I've led a sheltered life, obviouslygrin.

I think I'd tell them. Either 1) they'll be mortified I certainly would or 2) they won't stop in which case you may ne able to get a noise abatement order only half joking.

Seriously though, if it were any other kind of loud, unwelcome noise it wouldn't be a laughing matter.

On holiday in Mallorca one December I had a single room. Obviously a double room with a thin plasterboard wall ! Chap next door brought a woman back for sex....
I could hear lots of sounds from him followed by snoring. I thought she didn't seem to get much from it !!
I left a note on his door and the next night heard her read it out loud with much drunken giggling.
I was always looking round the dining room trying to pick out who I thought it was.
grinwinegrin

I live in a Park home, noise isn't so much a problem if you're indoors with tv/radio on but if you're outside you can hear loud neighbours - fortunately mine are fairly quiet thlgrin

I'm envious of your neighbours Zengran as I've been widowed for over 3 years thlenvy but I do agree perhaps just turn tv up or when you see her I would be tempted to mention "thin walls", they may not realise how much you can hear thlhmm

I love the thought of playing 'The Galloping Major' - that should stop anyone in their tracks.
The William Tell overture is also very good music for dampening the ardour - no-one could possibly keep up with the rhythm - they'd burst into flames! Don't ask me how I know grin

Many years ago our upstairs neighbours went through a phase of noisy sex. One session didn't last very long. My partner shouted "Is that it?" and we never heard them again

glenda Wed 02-Nov-16 15:04:59

This thread hasn't half made my day grin

gillybob Wed 02-Nov-16 15:11:24

I think BBevans idea is by far the best. A very loud, round of applause complete with whistles and cheering every time they finish! They will soon get the message.

It could be all put on of course??

do people really need to make that kind of noise when they do it?

LyndaW Wed 02-Nov-16 15:26:05

I don't really have much to add except that this is quite possibly my favourite GN thread ever!

gillybob Wed 02-Nov-16 16:11:00

How about playing "Push It" by Salt-n-Peppa really loud through the wall at the first moan whenever they start?

Aaaaah push it
Aaaaah push it

Ooooh baby baby
baby baby
Ooooh baby baby

You know the one...

I would say, well done and clap.

BBbevan Wed 02-Nov-16 17:27:27

Are you sure it's them and not a recording?

On the other hand they may enjoy knowing they can be heard. ( it takes all sorts). So complete indifference when you meet, or a recording of your own of yawning and snoring might do the trick. ?

sluttygran Wed 02-Nov-16 17:30:08

This thread has cheered me up no end. Thanks for the laughs, everyone! grin

hapgran Wed 02-Nov-16 17:32:58

Not sure if I agree with the post that said it will probably be over in a few minutes!?

NannyKasey Wed 02-Nov-16 18:46:21

I had a problem a few years ago with my neighbours lodgers who were very vocal at 5am at least 3 times a week. I reported them to the Noise Nuisance section of the local council who sent my neighbour a letter and thankfully it stopped. My neighbour is still barely speaking to me and it was 3 years ago.........
