And why are they so ready to look for something to be offended about?

Lots of love
Pollyanna. grin

Elegran, good post!

Please can you explain 'gfery'. I know not knowing emphasises how thick I am but I would really like to know.

kittylester Fri 16-Jun-17 14:27:00

BTW, I've googled it and still don't know.

Elegran Fri 16-Jun-17 14:37:18

kitty Gfery is a term used often on Mumsnet. I answered a question like yours on another thread with this post ^"Gfery is short for goaderyfuckery, or posting a deliberate attempt to goad someone into reacting aggressively so that you can then attack them for rising to the bait. Not the same thing as feroomery, or starting a fight in an empty room, which is one of the favourite ways for a poster with chronic aggression syndrome to find an outlet by reacting volcanically to a peaceful or "frivolous" post.^"

After reading Tricia's post I might replacing "Chronic Aggression Syndrome" ( a made-up term) with "a need to displace their anger at something else"

Kitty at 13.23 yesterday Elegran explained it to me on News and Politics "At the risk of enraging present company" thread. Apols to anyone who minds, if I havent quoted the thread title correctly.

Too late! As usual ?

kittylester Fri 16-Jun-17 14:39:02

Thank you!

Elegran Fri 16-Jun-17 14:39:14

Some of that should have been in italics:-

. . . this post "Gfery is short for goaderyfuckery, or posting a deliberate attempt to goad someone into reacting aggressively so that you can then attack them for rising to the bait. Dio Mio, so sorry MB. I'll slap my own wrist! ???????

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 15:47:44

And I missed an "n" out of your name. blush
Mamma Mia!!

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 16:04:11

Elegran, can't count the number of times I have been criticised on here for not always voting for the same party. Which party do you mean?

kittylester Fri 16-Jun-17 16:11:41

Sorry, missed that. Did someone speak? grin

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 16:15:58

Strangely enough, I find the political threads quite safe, much safer than ones like this.

kittylester Fri 16-Jun-17 16:52:09

Of course you do dj!

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 16:53:28

At least one can avoid them if you see what I mean.

rosesarered Fri 16-Jun-17 16:54:41

This thread is just a bit of light relief dj and goodness knows we need it.

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 16:56:11

"Welcome on board ... even if I say so myself, our company in the kitchen is well worth having. We leave that lot to hiss, spit and be really nasty to each other. I no longer waste my time reading what they write."

If only you did. Of course, this is said in a nice, pleasant way, isn't it?

durhamjen Fri 16-Jun-17 16:57:19

It's light relief criticising people, is it, roses?

kittylester Fri 16-Jun-17 17:13:43

dj, if you read my OP, I wasn't actually having a go at anyone at all and I think you would be really hard put to say that it was aimed at anyone at all. In fact, it was a reflection of how a lot of people seem to be at the moment in RL and on GN.

But, Rigby's comments (or insults) prove that some people do seem to always be cross.

And, I was taking the piss out of myself by signing it Polyanna - it's called irony (possibly!) because I know that I can be irritatingly upbeat. Or as my mother put it 'You are too bloody cheerful to be true!' grin

rosesarered Fri 16-Jun-17 17:15:52

The comment you write dj ....where did that come from, certainly not this thread.

rosesarered Fri 16-Jun-17 17:19:31

kitty started the thread as light relief.
Posters are increasingly getting stiff necked about everything under the sun.

MawBroon Fri 16-Jun-17 17:21:13

Maybe it was Durhamjen's own opinion. Absence of links though, makes me wonder....

Ana Fri 16-Jun-17 17:23:25

Looks as though that comment came from Soop's Kitchen - no idea whereabouts. Must have been some trawling going on...

Jane10 Fri 16-Jun-17 17:24:52

Now now MawBroon!!

Rigby46 Fri 16-Jun-17 17:36:35

kitty started the thread as light relief.

Well that was misjudged then wasn't it?
