The young have not lived through a time of union controlled government . Just think how they supported the Libs because of tuition fee promises. The same will happen with a Corbyn changing rainbow government and it is the teenagers who will be paying back the billions borrowed by Corbyn.

As the parties are now, disaster which ever wins the next election.

Theresa May is the best person for the job of PM by miles .The fact that she carried on through the speech just goes to show how strong she is. After coping with that, Brexit will be a pushover.

Do you think that Hammond doesn’t understand what Marxist means, and lots of other people within politics who describe Corbyn’s ideas in that way, or do you think it’s only me that has said it??
I find your ‘MPs coming to heel’ chilling, the sort of thing Momentum say of moderate Labour MP’s.

I find it interesting to note who ' the players ' are in most scenarios.

Momentum for Labour and the likes of Grant Schnapps, Ed Vazey and who cannot fail to note George Osborne for the Tories.

The latter being ex Conservative MP's who are strong Remainers, lost their jobs and showing their disloyalty to the party.

Why is it an issue to mention ' Marxism' ?

John McDonnell has said ' I am a Marxist'.

It follows if John McDonnell became Chancellor of the Exchequer do you think he will suddenly become a Capitalist?

If you believe/support Corbyn and McDonnell who blatantly follow Marxist views why do you find it upsetting to be aligned with Marxism? It's not as though they have hidden their politics for over 30 years is it.

I have always said I cannot support Corbyn because of his militant history, he and McDonald do follow Marxist views.

I am of the centre left of the party, never had a problem with being called a Blairite , I supported Gordon Brown.

Yet those who praise Corbyn consider being classed a Marxist or militant supporter an insult.

And re Marxism, to those posters who think some of us feel insulted when the term is directed at us, well it doesn’t bother me, I certainly don’t get upset but it’s simply inaccurate. I’m not a Marxist, that’s all. Each to their own.

There are actually a lot of young people who understand marxism, communism and socialism far better than some of the posters on this thread who seem to confuse all three. There are also some young revolutionary communists around. I may not agree with their politics but I certainly admire their idealism, and their belief that there should be better chances for all, rather than the 'Me first, there is no such thing as society' which is the legacy of the Thatcher years.
As for Mrs May well you have to laugh don't you? And no I don't feel sorry for her-If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

We don't elect a PM, we elect a leader of the party we belong to.
I think when you decide to correct another GNetter AB you should be careful you then actually get it right.

We do not elect a PM - correct; but the rest isn't.
We elect a party and they elect a leader. We actually have no choice of PM even if it appears that we do because the party we are voting for has a current leader. That is why in the last election, the Tories seemed to behave with scandalous disregard to our system when they tried to foist some sort of President on us.

No, we do not elect a party, we choose to join a party and as a member we can choose which candidate to vote for as leader . The voter then chooses who they want as PM by voting for the party he/she leads, come a general election.

I have to agree with Trisher about young people knowing about Marxism. I would add that we can see from ABs remarks that she is not looking at Marxism per se but her view and interpretation of it.

Where experience is concerned it isn't always a good thing. Experience can be limiting; it implies stale ideas, narrow vision and tired habits of thought. A lack of experience can promise energy and originality, the ability to see new avenues where more experienced minds see dead ends. I think the two ends of our age scale have as much, but different things, to offer, so never appreciate someone talking down the young and elevating the older generations wisdom well above anything the majority of us have earned.

That is not true Annie. As a country we elect an MP and the number of MPs will tell us which party has been elected. The vast majority of people are not members of those parties so have no influence whatsoever in the election of the leader who becomes the PM.

Grant Shapps is a snake with many skins. He was accused (rightly) of running a business under a different name, Michael Green I think, denied it on BBC, threatened to sue a constituent who outed him on FB, then a month later, admitted that he had been this other person. He is a liar, a cheat and a thoroughly nasty bit of work. As is Boris who denied that he had tried to force his mistress to have an abortion, then admitted that yes, it was the truth and was suspended from the cabinet ( I believe) for his lies. I use the term lies deliberately, no euphemistic use of 'misunderstandings' or 'confusion', they are bloody liars and should not be allowed cabinet positions which insigate changes which impact everyone's lives. In the face of these two reptiles, TM looks a good choice, and if my assessment of her character and morals is correct, I would think she finds it hard to be in the same room as them, I would.
