Grant Shapps is a manipulative, scheming (damned) villain. Michael Gove distanced himself from Shapps' comments and of course, Michael Gove is such a sweet, straightforward, non scheming type of chap so all is well.
My sympathy for TM is just that, sympathy for someone having a dire time of it. Yes, its mainly of her own making. She stood outside number 10 on the night of her confirmation as tory leader and made a speech that could have been made by a middle of the road politician, that is could have been a so called 'right leaning' Labour politician. She made some similar comments at conference, watered down of course by her support for market forces. My big complaint is that she says one thing in front of the camera, then allows her hench people to enhance the austerity programme, as Mr Trump may say "bigly".
The tories are in disarray and seem to be losing their ability to be in such disarray but behind closed doors. I'm with GGranM2, I'd like to see some kind of PR. Our political boundaries seem likely to be re-drawn, leaving us in a largely tory constituency and our sitting MP with a large number of his supporters disenfranchised.
The current government sent the message that it had listened to the criticism on the door step about its austerity agenda and would make changes. Does that include saying some public servants, but not all, can have more than 1% providing its paid for out of existing budgets. Yes, that's the kind of listening we don't need isn't it.
