What are your secrets for a happy life?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 01-Jun-19 17:51:12

I am only truly happy when all our children and Grandchildren are trouble free, healthy and happy.

KatyK Sat 01-Jun-19 17:09:39

It's supposed to be good to let it out. I certainly do!

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 17:08:12

Not sure I see the point in keeping it bottled up.

KatyK Sat 01-Jun-19 17:05:22

Very true Gonegirl

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 17:05:20

I moan. But if you don't, how's anyone to know what you're suffering?

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 17:03:55

Yes. I have only had one life trauma. It was huge, and happened when I was a young person. Looking back I can see I dealt with it well, but there is no way I could do that again. Things are easier when you're young.

mumofmadboys Sat 01-Jun-19 17:02:45

I think it helps to make a concerted effort not to moan! Also to enjoy the small moments eg lovely flower, special music, a smile from someone

As Gary Barlow says:

Life is a rollercoaster, you just got to ride it ......

Kitty
Absolutely. Some of us are lucky to have the capacity to not let what my friend called lifes eternal quagmire get us down: I'm one of them.

KatyK Sat 01-Jun-19 16:58:03

Also how you deal with life's traumas.

kittylester Sat 01-Jun-19 16:45:27

I suspect it's the character one is born with.

Grammaretto Sat 01-Jun-19 16:44:06

A happy life? What is that? I wake up feeling happy some days for no apparent reason and wake up miserable on others for the same.
Happy moments: yes of course and being able to enjoy those.
I'm at my happiest, ie most content, when I know that all my loved ones are happy and preferably surrounded by them.
I agree it's good not to have too high aspirations. Achieve one thing per day is about right and it can be quite a small thing.
I think I was at my most miserable when I was a teenager and life seemed hard, sad and lonely. Then I met my DH and that changed everything for the better.

rockgran Sat 01-Jun-19 16:42:08

I think we all need some love gas, Gonegirl!

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 16:31:18

dragonfly ? sorry!

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 16:30:27

Make me laugh EllenVannin.

dragonfly46 Sat 01-Jun-19 16:29:23

Yeah sorry Gonegirl I couldn't resist but it is what I live by and has come in very handy recently.

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 16:29:15

No. Not "love gas*. God knows what that is but it sounds sinister!

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 16:27:58

I think love gas got to be in the mix somewhere. Loving your family and being loved back? Something that doesn't seem to come easily to so many.

Helennonotion Sat 01-Jun-19 16:26:06

Copious amounts of red wine. grin grin grin

rockgran Sat 01-Jun-19 16:23:34

Expect the worse - then everything else seems like bonus. grin

Gonegirl Sat 01-Jun-19 16:11:59

That's an original thought Dragonfly.

Oldandverygrey Sat 01-Jun-19 15:45:57

There is no secret to a happy life, you just muddle through.

Revolucion Sat 01-Jun-19 15:40:03

I’m not doing media research, just recovering from burnout!

sodapop Sat 01-Jun-19 15:18:52

I'm like cherrytree enjoy the good times and do the best you can when things are difficult.

dragonfly46 Sat 01-Jun-19 15:14:05

I believe in accepting the things you cannot change, having the courage to change those you can and the having the wisdom to know the difference.
