Clairvoyant Medium

Just interested if any of you ladies, in recent times, have visited one of the above and were happy with your reading?
I appreciate that clairvoyants and mediums “ tap into” different levels ie Mediums potentially could make contact with loved ones that are no longer with us and clairvoyant perhaps more about predictioning the future.
Thank you x

most of it is costs you a lot. most people start talking about family even before you get in the show. you never know who is eaves dropping.......mind you saying that. i went with a friend .she paid £25 back in the 2000's.. and while this man was telling her fortune. he said to me. could i move away as i was confusing things.(me seeing dead people anyway/spirits).so i moved a couple of feet so i could hear what was being said, sounded like a load of afterwards he said to me alex and andrew are in an accident(my daughter and andrew coming back from church camp). my daughter was alice. scary. ??? well they were never in an accident but they saw one. next he said he could see david standing next to me...i said cousin davd not dead. and left it at that.doing family history later ,we had a david and edward died as babies ,why david and not edward...?i can usually pick up when a stately home is haunted...my friend and i saw a ghost/spirit on a trip to bodiam castle sussex. was at medieval fair .walking across the field was this man in full medieval gear. so we smiled and he smiled back. we turned back to see him and he was gone. there was no way he could have got across a big open field so fast...then i saw the gardener walk through the blocked up garden doorway.another lady saw this too. no way says me and went to look...solid bricked up doorway.then at statley home .not sure where this was i smelt peach perfume... asked whether it was air freshener.? no its lay ?? perfume... oh says me .she been dead 300 years.yeah right says me...truly says lady not many people can smell that scent..........mediums cannot converse with the dead....its FAKE....

There are many well documented cases of mediums being employed, even by the police when people used to get lost on Dartmoor. There was another much reported case of a chap who got lost on the Himalayas. Only found when they went to the holy man who told them exactly where he was, way outside the area they had been searching. He had survived on water, Australian and they did lots of tests 're lack of vitamins and minerals etc.

There is good and bad. DH's colleague saw one who was accurate. She said he'd be moving to Scotland (he'd applied for a job but hadn't told her) and was in a new relationship which would last (again not mentioned.) She begged him to take his car to the garage for a check - it had a brake cable which was almost sheared right through - he was driving a death trap. That saved his life
Myself and DH went - it was astonishing. We parked a couple of streets away. She said there was something wrong with the pistons - when DH had started it (miles away) he thought there was a piston problem as it sounded funny.
She was so accurate and it was uncanny - it made the hairs on the back of your head stand up. There are terrible charlatans out there but this lady really knew her onions.

My mother read the cards. She was brilliant. She told everyone what they wanted to hear. But we've always said she was a witch- the white sort, more I shall wear midnight, not really Nanny Ogg.

I've read all the posts so far on this thread with great interest. I don't normally post on Forums too much but felt I just had to on this one.

There seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding mediums etc and I just thought I might be able to help. To keep things short and not to bore anybody I'll try to itemise the points I'd like to make.

Mediums work with spirit for the benefit of all. They receive communications, usually via a trusted 'guide', which they then pass on to the relevant person if that person wishes to receive the message. It takes a long time for a medium to become proficient and can be very tiring.

All mediums are psychic but not all psychics are mediums.

There are three psychic abilities: Clairvoyance (seeing); Clairaudience (hearing); Clairsentience (feeling).

Some psychics have all three abilities, some only have one.

Psychics will use whichever ability they have to give a reading; sometimes using Tarot Cards as well as a guide.

Mediums will give messages directly from spirit.

I have met a child who was 'gifted' and able to describe a previous life/family/place in great detail; even directions to a place that he'd never been to, at the age of 5.

I have met genuine and accurate people whose only wish was to deliver messages from loved ones to comfort those left behind.

At no time have I ever visited or associated with anyone claiming to be a 'clairvoyant' or anything else who had a house that smelled of 'cat wee' and I can say that is definitely not the 'norm'.

Regarding charging for readings etc., all I can say on that is that it is up to the individual if they charge or not. I would say it's fair to charge travel expenses and for time if the person is visiting another venue.

Above all it must be remembered that Mediums and Psychics are not 'fortune tellers', that sort of thing belongs in the fairgound with the 'dangly earrings' and 'silver crossed palms'.

Can contributors please remember that there are some men who are members of gransnet.

I keep an open mind which is why I view such things with a modicum of respect. Like most things in life however, there are those who sincerely believe and others who are fakes and con-artists. Since I can't tell the difference, I will never pay good money to have someone tell me about the future or the hereafter.

knspol Wed 24-Jul-19 14:26:33

Never been to a clairvoyant or medium and although I do believe there are a very few who are genuine I think the majority are absolute charlatans.
Did happen to meet a shaman once who told me that I had been regularly beaten as a child and consequently had no automatic respect for authority. I met him in passing and he was spot on with his thoughts.

I had a reading last week, we are friends on FB. She said I was moving next month which is true. My daughter said what rubbish as she will know by reading my page. I have not told anyone outside of my immediate family so there is no way of knowing that. She also said that the man with me was saying that it was about time I bought a new house, only taken me 4 years ? Shall get a new love in the next 2 years. I wait with baited breath ?

Aepgirl Wed 24-Jul-19 14:51:52

I certainly wouldn’t visit one, and would never trust one.

Trinity Wed 24-Jul-19 14:57:40

Please don't go there it's dangerous x

harrigran Wed 24-Jul-19 15:09:30

When life is extinct it is extinct, I can not understand how any sane or reasonably intelligent person could believe that another could communicate with an electrical impulse which has been switched off. To believe you can is to leave oneself open to ridicule.

Coolgran65 Wed 24-Jul-19 15:12:55

I went in and sat down in her kitchen. I'd never been to this house before or met the lady before.

She looked at me and said "Billy says hello he loves you dearly, Mary is with him, she was a very cold lady." Billy & Mary were my parents.

She told me "your son has red hair and a beard, he is in a high profession, if it weren't for the internet he'd be working in a lab. He lives on another continent"

There was much more, all accurate, none of which could have come from body language.

dogsmother Wed 24-Jul-19 15:34:16

Oh Harrigran, how can you dispute people’s witness accounts?
Certainly there are charlatans however that’s not being disputed. There is also evidence here from people who have nothing to gain or lose.

JanaNana Wed 24-Jul-19 15:42:53

There are some very gifted people with a psychic ability and some without any of these qualities who jump on the band wagon and pretend they have.
For example if you look at a picture drawn or painted by a good artist, you can see straight away their talent, likewise a wonderful musician is proof of his/her talent, and with others many various talents which are visible to the eye/ear which shows the proof of their skills. However as a psychic ability is a hidden gift compared to these others but is nonetheless a gift, many people automatically assume that everyone must be a charlatan because of some who falsely claim they have this gift. A genuine medium/spiritualist can know many things and not by body language or picking up on things you say. I have seen two over the years, and one spoke to me of my brother who had died in childhood and when I was still a child and the trauma it caused our family. The second one knew that the wedding ring I wear on my wedding finger belonged to my mother who also died quite young herself. A good one can tell you such personal things that could never have been gleaned elsewhere.

Many years ago I saw 2 clairvoyants who were rubbish. I went to another with my sister a few years after that a male clairvoyant who was amazing. This was before the internet and facebook. I only gave our names and no address. He knew things that he could never have found out. His predictions all came true except two. In fact we have tried to find him recently owing to a mysterious family death most likely suicide. I still have his old address and phone number but after all these years has moved. If anyone on here knows where Gary Owen clairvoyant/medium lives now could you message me please. He would be in his probably in his late 70's now.

blondenana Wed 24-Jul-19 16:09:46

I do believe some people have this power,i have been told things about the future, that have since happened, and also shocked to be told about things that no one could possibly know about my past
This was in the days before the internet,
I was told many years ago that i would have twin boys, but not for a few yeas,i did 8 years later
I was told that i had arranged for an exchange from where i lived to another town, but i would get a letter saying the people had changed their minds,i got a letter the day after
I was also told by another lady who used only playing cards that i was thinking of leaving where i lived to go to somewhere on a long journey, but would make my mind up in a hurry, i did,
I never went to Gypsies at the seaside but only people recommended to me
I could tell a lot of things i was told ,if i could remember them all just now
I have also had experiences of my own,i have lived in 2 different house where weird things have happened and only found out later that there was a reason , but it never scared me, sounds of sawing in the night, and someone falling downstairs etc, but i was brought up a spirtualist my grandmother was a medium

I went to see a fortune-teller in a caravan in a car park in Bantry once, many years ago. She told me that money would never be a problem for me and I was chuffed to bits. It was only later I re-considered. Maybe, rather than saying I'd be well off, she meant I'd never have enough of it to find it a problem to deal with. Oh well..

Thank you, everyone for your responses.
Appreciated your take on this.

I think some people do have a gift but not necessarily those who charge a fee. I was at a theatre about 25 years ago and the woman I sat next to, a total stranger, took one look at me and said she could see a flat mountain- I had just won a competition to go to Cape Town! I have paid for other readings occasionally and they have mostly been a load of old rubbish.

Deedaa Wed 24-Jul-19 19:31:58

I once had a sand reading done. All the usual guff but she did say I would be getting another cat. This was hysterically funny as we already had five cats, which was about four more than we had room for. And yes, a few weeks later a neighbour did a moonlight flit and left her cat behind. Need I say more?

I very much doubt that. I've seen many mediums claim that they've helped the police in murder and missing persons cases, and make the excuse that the police can't publicly admit to getting help from them. This doesn't answer the question of how - if they were telling the truth - the prosecution would present the case in court. For example, how would they describe how the murderer was found- say "A medium named Madame Arcati furnished the acccused's name and description to police"? Yeah, right.....
In a few murder cases in the US, I believe the police have actually tried to trick a suspect into confessing by telling them that they've called in a pschic who has told them that he's the killer (naturally they've done so such thing). And in one murder case (again in the US) a witness who overheard the killer talking about where they buried the body went to the police falsely claiming that the invormation had come to her in a dream; this was in fear of her safety, because the killer and his gang would know who had given the information.

In the '70s and '80s, I believed in all this stuff and, with my then-husband, went to see a great many psychics and mediums. Most of them were utterly sincere and believed that they were getting messages "from Spirit". However, not only did I never get a single correct reading or prediction, it was pretty clear from watching that most were getting information from the person they were reading for.
For example, I was at a Spiritualist church service where the medium picked out a lady from the audience. "I'm getting a Joe," she said "does that name mean anything?" She gave no other details - "Joe" could have been the name of her cat, for all anyone knew - but the lady immediately replied "Why yes! That's my little grandson - he was born last week!"
Afterwards, when we were leaving, I overheard the woman saying to her friends "How on earth did she know my grandson's name?"
For another example: my then-husband went off on his own to get a reading from a clairvoyant and came back bursting with how it had been such a successful reading. Amongst other things, she'd told him that he would be taking up a musical instrument soon, and that she could see us both running a shop in the near future. I was very impressed, as we'd actually been discussing exactly those two things a few days before.
I asked him where he'd heard of this woman. "Oh, she was at that party of so-and-so's that I went to on my own last week. She's a fascinating lady - we must have talked for hours...."
Not only did none of her predictions come about, but she never mentioned any of the quite major events that were to hit us in the next two years. I really would have appreciated some warning!
