Please can anyone tell me what it's called?

Good morning all, and good wishes!

I bought 2 C..... decorations very cheaply on our village facebook page. One of them is a sort of wicker Father C, but I feel that he needs more "filling" in his body, as it seems to have settled at the bottom.

Now, it would be pretty easy to poke some more in through the framework, and it's probably perfectly possible to buy it on line, if only I knew what the damn stuff was called! blush

It looks a bit like long horsehair and is red (he has the same stuff but white in his face, and that's fine, it's just his body that I think needs a bit more).

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

BTW, he lights up too! ( much to Mr P's delight!)

As mentioned upthread, there is a bit of a tradition that "himself" has a new C....... decoration for his birthday, so he has now got 2, and at a bargain price!

Also, the lady in the village who I bought them from is glad that they are going to a good home.

She told me that her late husband was the one who was inclined to go a bit overboard at C..... and these items had been in the loft since he died. She is moving from the village to a retirement flat in Hampshire (nearer her family) so was having a clear out. A bit sad really.

I haven't had time to read through all the previous posts but I think what you are looking for is coir upholstery filling. Here's a link to some on Ebay:
www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=coir+upholstery+filling&_sacat=0
or Amazon: www.amazon.co.uk/s?ref=nb_sb_noss_1&k=coir+upholstery+filling&tag=gransnetforum-21
I haven't been able to find it in red but there is a black or ginger option. I think it's made from coconut fibre.

A wicker basket had what looks like red straw as a base?

Blinko Sat 19-Oct-19 15:30:44

Kapos is the stuffing/s used to mend old teddy bears. Is this what you mean?

Doodle Sat 19-Oct-19 19:19:22

I am pleased for you phoenix . Hope your stuffing goes as planned. Your Santa looks very jolly. Perhaps we should have a GN thread this Christmas with pictures of our best decorations.

On the Create and Craft channel I have heard sisal referred to as 'sissle'. Surely I am right in thinking it is pronounced 'sizeal'?

Good luck with your stuffing! smile
