When we were growing up most people did not own their own houses they did not have big mortgages they did not have cars they did not have holidays abroad they never had computers and iPhones they did not work too far from where they lived so never had expensive rail costs which have gone up yet again today or petrol to pay for many things have gone way beyond the rate of wages, in 1972 when we bought our first house it was just £2500 for a two bedroom terraced that wouldn’t even pay for holiday now. It’s no wonder that many people have to go to mum and dad to bail them out we are lucky that we’ve always been able to earn a decent wage in our jobs as we have always done two jobs minimum sometimes three jobs at the same time so we were able to help her kids out. We are never paid back and don’t expect to be we’re not moneylenders we are mum and dad. I’d rather they come to us for financial help and if we can help them we will.
