This might sound rather trivial in the great scheme of things but has anyone ever had to complain about a Hermes delivery and how did you go about it? I've searched the website and can find NO WAY of registering a complaint! Problem is,I was expecting a parcel this morning but had to go out so I opted for it to be left with a neighbour by registering it through their proper channels. The parcel was just left by my door and no attempt was made to try the neighbours house!

I think you are right marydoll
At my previous house, we had a short period where we had a husband and wife team. They were fabulous.
Unfortunately, during the first lockdown the guy caught Covid and was really unwell. She had to self isolate.
They were apparently treated appallingly by the company so told them to basically ‘stick their job’
Deliveries after that were very hit and miss.
The village where I now live is about as bad as it gets. We have a thread on the local FB page and no one here has had a Hermes delivery for weeks. Most people have now had refunds from the companies using them confused

Once again, I have nothing but praise for my Hermes driver. One parcel was only dispatched last night from QVC and the other yesterday morning. I received both this afternoon.
I think it depends on the driver. Ours is fantastic.

I was told to go round all the neighbours and ask if they had my parcel! My response was let the Hermes guy spend his time finding where he dumped it.

I once had a delivery note saying my parcel was behind my wheelie bin.
Needless to say it wasn’t there.

Next day, a neighbour two doors away brought my parcel round. He had found it behind his wheelie bin on bin day.

I can’t even begin to understand that one hmm

HERMES !! I was expecting a delivery of a very expensive electrical item that was a gift for someone else.
I was in all day ,nothing turned up during the morning as expected .
Then I made the mistake of going to the loo and as I live alone i didn’t close the door in case I missed a knock at the door.
Didn’t hear anyone knock but I went downstairs to let the cat out and there’s the parcel on my doorstep.Clearly visible to anyone passing by, easily stolen etc.
I went on their website and apparently I HAD signed for it !!!
Like hell I had !!basically the delivery driver must have pulled up and dumped the parcel and signed it as delivered to me.
I admit I was fuming but got absolutely nowhere when trying to complain.
I consider myself lucky nobody stole it really but I would of had no proof it had ever been delivered .

Just dreadful. Why do companies keep using them? It sounds as though they have some light fingered employees…

Flaxseed Mon 15-Nov-21 14:26:23

I have finally given up on seeing my Hermes deliveries.

I rang both JL and Boden today. Both helpful, neither seemed surprised hmm, both resending orders (via different couriers)

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 13-Nov-21 13:51:24

My books turned up on time yesterday via Hermes. I think much depends on the particular driver but my experience is that if you need something urgently and pay for next day delivery Hermes don’t deliver next day. I have had that experience with M&S items delivered by Hermes and got my next day delivery charge refunded.

Another company I can’t use then sigh! Others are Damart, Cotton Traders, Holland & Barrett, Parker’s Bulbs, Studio, John Lewis, Regatta. Any others you can add to my list?

I use Cotton Traders a lot and have never had a problem with deliveries, I wonder if they use other couriers as well?

Mind you, I think I am very lucky with deliveries, I have very limited mobility and do most of my shopping online and the only time I’ve had problems has been with my postman. On two occasions he left a card saying I was not at home for a delivery when I was so I had to arrange another day or go and collect it. The second time this happened, I contacted the post office online to complain and it seemed to work, it has not happened again.

And no doubt countless others.

How about a petition Jillyjosie? I will gladly join.

That's very interesting Flaxseed because I noticed the 'photo of the wrong front door' complaint over and over again on our local neighbourhood page and on the page with hundreds of complaints about Hermes on it that I found on the Web.
It's a perfect scam when you think about it, take a pretend photo and then scarper with the package.
For what it's worth, having seen what I've now seen, I am going to write to my (Tory) MP. After all, they're the party of big business and here we have a big business employing people for peanuts and allowing lots of misdelivered/lost etc parcels to happen with the businesses using the company paying the price through refunds or supply of replacement goods. And us paying the price too plus lots of frustration.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 13-Nov-21 09:47:18

Well as I said upthread Amazon now deliver for other companies as I found when they, not the usual Hermes, delivered my White Company parcel (and so much more quickly). So that’s one company which has ditched Hermes and I hope more follow, much as I don’t want to see the decent Hermes drivers out of work.

Flaxseed Sat 13-Nov-21 09:35:34

How can they keep getting it so wrong?

Mine had a ‘proof of delivery’ photo of a front door. It wasn’t my front door.

I went onto the tracking email the other day to show someone and that photo had actually changed to another location!
Today, there’s no photo on there at all.

With the amount of refunds companies must have to give out to customers, I am totally baffled as to why they still use them confused

I suppose I'm not surprised to find this thread. I've seen plenty of posts on our local Facebook group about missing deliveries, damaged deliveries, broken deliveries, part deliveries and now I'm one.

A parcel that was dispatched at the end of October, has supposedly undergone two attempted deliveries (we were definitely in the house at the time) and now I'm told that the item has been delivered with a photo of the delivery only it certainly isn't our front door, neither is it any of our neighbours.
I've done a Google search and of course there are dozens of questions and pages of complaint about Hermes. I phoned the company from whom I bought my item and they immediately offered a refund or new item. I am left wondering why we or companies who use Hermes put up with this. It's all so corrupt, like living in Communist Russia or Romania or somewhere. There are goods going missing because of a corrupt delivery company and we all just live with it! It strikes me as fraudulent and deeply suspicious. I found a BBC Watchdog article about it on the BBC website but nothing happens.... why not?

Isn’t it strange, our DPD man is first class. The woman from DHL is the opposite, if you don’t get to the door in a few seconds she’s on her way back down the drive with the parcel. I wish DPD would deliver my Postscript parcel but H have emailed me to say they have it.

Marydoll Fri 12-Nov-21 14:12:36

Hermes are great, DPD, now that's another story.

I keep getting 20% discount vouchers from Otrium, because DPD keep messing up deliveries.

25Avalon Fri 12-Nov-21 14:06:59

Germanshepherdsmum

Placed an order the other day with Postscript who do some nice discounted books. Guess who’s going to deliver them.

Postscript only use DPD for my deliveries as they know my problem with Hermes.

Like their photo of proof of delivery can be a bush or even a complete blurr.

Hermes send a questionaire on line for you to give your experience of their services. This now includes a photo taken as proof of delivery.

Flaxseed Fri 12-Nov-21 13:01:33

Debenhams online use them too

Land's End use Hermes too - I just returned a parcel so must look for my refund as DH said the man who took the parcel at the local Hermes Parcelshop didn't seem sure of what he was doing.

Calistemon Thu 11-Nov-21 23:20:24

I am waiting for two parcels. One was ‘delivered’ last week apparently, even had a photo attached to prove it.
It wasn’t my front door
That happened last year but it was Amazon
I never did find out whose front door it was but they did replace the item.

Marydoll Thu 11-Nov-21 22:51:10

We have two Hermes couriers, a weekday one and a weekend one.

We had a parcel delivered unexpectedly at the weekend and found the parcel placed safely in the greenhouse, with a card through the door.

The weekday courier knows exactly who to leave the parcels with if we are not a home. He never leaves them on doorsteps. We all have an arrangement with him to leave parcels with trusted neighbours.
I hope he never leaves!!
