I have been listening to Radio 2 and Lulu has been the featured/interviewed artist this week.

She said that "in her head" she was still 16 and I was wondering how old the rest of us feel.

Incidentally, I'm around the same age as Lulu!

I'm 70. Aghhhh...... I don't want to be 70.
I look after 6 grandchildren. When I have them I'm in my 30s. Still young enough to be silly.
Then the body tells me not to be silly.
My children are older than me and
I often hear those famous words "OH.. MOTHER".
I want to keep hearing this.
In my mind I shall always be in my 30s.

I’m not going to kid myself I feel 18 in my head, what a traumatic memory that would be with all that teenage angst. However I can definitely equate with a 40 year old mindset.

Still young enough to play the game but old enough to know the rules. I’ll settle for that!!

Don't worry! You'll only think you're "old" when you suddenly realise you're actually partial to STOUT! grin
A 440ml can of Guinness costs $5 here, which makes it quite a cheap nightcap! confused
Cheers

fluttERBY123 Sat 22-Feb-20 11:32:15

50 (80 this year).

I'd give any 40 year old a run for their money----in my mind, that is. Thankfully and so grateful to have my marbles at twice that age.
Physically not as fit as I ought to be---too much sitting !! Can't run up slopes as I did, not that long ago either, but due to a mini-stroke a couple of years ago I've " over-pampered " myself in the " not too much movement" department.

I moved a while ago and when I registered at the surgery and then saw the doctor, as I sat down he exclaimed, "Good heavens, are you really eighty?"
It was maddening to look younger when I was growing up. When I was twenty I looked about twelve - but I don't mind a bit now. grin

In my 60s but still feel young in my mind just the body's aches and pains tell me different

Somedays mentally I still feel 15 and hearing certain music on the radio of an era I love I go right back to the 15 year old girl and start singing along.
I do get a rude awakening from my daughter who I actually had at very young age, she had a birthday a few days ago and kept going on how old she is getting I told her she needed to knock 10 years off the birthday age as it could not be possible she was as old as she was saying.

TrendyNannie6 Sat 22-Feb-20 11:59:15

In my head I’m around 30

rowanflower0 Sat 22-Feb-20 11:59:53

I feel about 28, but wish I was and wish I'd started writing my books then - when I still had lots of time to get all my ideas onto paper!

ALANaV Sat 22-Feb-20 12:04:04

same here....ha ha ...I keep trying to tell that old white haired woman NOT to follow me into the fitting room...….or stand in front of me when I am trying to look in a shop window …….is it time to wear purple with a red hat that doesn't go ?

Laurensnan Sat 22-Feb-20 12:06:45

Yes I'm stuck at 30. Old enough to know better about things but young enough to still be young! Mature and more sensible but still looking fresh faced and confident in my looks. I'm 60 next year and I've not yet accepted being 40 ?

Merry16 Sat 22-Feb-20 12:08:26

I wish I did feel in my head like a 16 year old. At 16, I didn’t have a worry in the world! I lived for the day, didn’t really think about anyone else but myself, was carefree and happy. The future beckoned and life was so exciting.
Oh, to feel so unburdened. Now, life is filled with worries, concerns for everyone I love and a past filled with life experiences. I’d love to feel 16 again ?

TATT Sat 22-Feb-20 12:09:27

I’d like to think my late 20s, but when I hear some of the music that some young people listen to I realise that I’m not. I think that I’m probably mid-fifties, about 10 years younger!

Tinker18 Sat 22-Feb-20 12:10:35

63, my actual age, and happy and grateful to be that age.

Growing0ldDisgracefully Sat 22-Feb-20 12:11:09

Like another poster on here, old enough to know better, and old enough not to care! (Hence my user name).
However I had a challenging exchange on social media recently with a clearly much younger little sh*t, who was of the opinion that society needs to be purged (his phrase), of all older people as we make no contribution to society, and the cost of our health care should not be spent on our age group, but instead diverted to other sectors of society!!! And those of us living on private pensions while we wait for state pensions should share our wealth (what wealth!?), with others who did not take out a private pension!!! On this occasion I was so glad not to be part of his age group, nasty little *#$@.

In my head about 32, a very happy time in my life. At 34 I met my 3rd DH so I have fond memories of our time together until I was widowed at 57.

I'm 64 & my life is good apart from health problems, I still enjoy life to the full & find it hard to believe I'll be 65 later this year. I'm growing old disgracefullygrin

Joesoap Sat 22-Feb-20 12:26:27

Different days different ages, good days around twenty five when I had a fabulous life, both at work and socially.Bad days slightly older when my hip arthritis lays up,I am doing well really "at my age"

NanaPlenty Sat 22-Feb-20 12:32:53

I don’t feel any different in my head to when I was thirty - maybe a little wiser than I was....it’s just on days like today when I’m suffering from pain that I feel older?but I can’t complain as it’s not too often and others have so much worse. Happy weekend everyone .

4allweknow Sat 22-Feb-20 12:33:49

I must be the age of an impatient teenager! Everytime I approach a checkout in a supermarket I look to see if there are any "old" folk in the queue ahead and avoid like the plague. They take forever to pack their stuff and when it come to paying it always seems like it's something new to them. Then of course I realise I am probably even older than those irritating old folk!

earnshaw Sat 22-Feb-20 12:34:10

i am still in the sixties with all the wonderful music and clubs etc, so in my head, yes i am back then, till i look in the mirror

3nanny6 Sat 22-Feb-20 12:35:45

Merry16, I get what you are saying particularly about your life filled with worries and concerns for those you love.
Although I put on this post mentally I still feel 15 in my head, just like you I have worries and certain things about family that can run me into circles however particularly morning times I will hear some music from my younger days and right away I am back there with my 15 year old self and it feels great.
I am sure you can find that 16 year old inside yourself go back and visit her and enjoy, life will still be here to bring on all the troubles.

Rufus We've been visiting Ireland since we were in our twenties and always enjoyed a pint or three of Guinness ,its those Irish roots they need fed .When I was in hospital with my first baby a lot of the mothers were given guinness daily on the ward.My consultant didn't do guinness but he did give his patients a small brandy if we managed our exercises

Merryweather Sat 22-Feb-20 13:01:54

I feel like an old lady 90 at 39!
Clearly there's no hope, I'll ask to be put down.
Too many debilitating health conditions, too many tablets.
