I too have the Kellogs brand usually but DH brought in Asda own brand and I found it better, same with their Weetabix.

After the initial panic, it’s very reassuring that most items are readily available. I live on my own and am quite minimal in my needs, so no complaints from me.
I’ve had the same breakfast for twenty years ( apart from Holidays) and have recently run out. I’m a Kellogg’s Fruit and Fibre addict and there’s not a box to be found!!
Yes, there are the own brand cereals but I’ve never found one that comes anywhere near the branded product.
Anyone else missing their favorite items?
This is certainly not a moan, just an observation, by enlarge plenty of items in the shops and queues not too long as a rule.
Cheers, all. Beautiful morning here x
I too have the Kellogs brand usually but DH brought in Asda own brand and I found it better, same with their Weetabix.
I managed to get flour in a polish supermarket, the only thing I can’t find anywhere is baking powder. My milk man delivers
eggs, lovely Burfords, probably top dollar, but I’m happy to pay because they’re my favourite!
I understand the problem with flour was not the product itself, but the packaging - usually it goes out on large bags to bakeries but they closed and ceased to buy and suddenly it was needed in huge quantities of 'home baker' sized bags! I suspect many of the other 'shortages' we are now seeing are similar. as people seem to have stopped the selfish 'panic buying'.
Many of the 'supermarket brand' products are made by Kellogs and packed in different boxes, but are identical.
I've usually buy 1% milk. I find semi too rich and skimmed a bit thin so this is ideal. It's no longer available but I have discovered Arla milk which tastes similar but costs a lot more.
Aldi do a very good fruit and fibre.
It seems Aldi has plenty of stock compared to some of the larger supermarkets, my experience is Sains eggs are bought up very early on every day, plus they don't have the normal amount delivered. Asda seem to be low on bread.
I cannot get yeast anywhere though.
20 years oh my days. Kellogg’s will be very pleased.
I have different fancies for breakfast ranging from
Porridge
Fruit & fibre
Egg on toast
Bacon sarnie
Full English.
Marmalade on toast
Yogurt & fruit.
I do hope you find some supplies but like others have said maybe worth buying bulk online.
Terribull I bought a delivery pass for Asda, this means I can book a recurring slot. At the moment my slot is 4pm Friday, so I'll find out what I get then!! On the other hand I find Asda has hardly anything in, and the amendments I paid for last night are not included in this evening's delivery - you takes your chance!!
I couldn't get eggs last week, but my daughter managed to get them from Sainsburies, she also got me flour from Waitrose.
Where has all the condensed milk gone ?! DH desperate for banoffee pie but impossible to find.
My last delivery was from Iceland and I didn't get the stew packs of vegetables I ordered. Just one cauliflower which admittedly was a giant. The milk went off quite quickly though. Otherwise I thought they did really well. I've managed to get a Sainsbury's slot this time so have ordered 1 of a lot of vegetables in addition to the casserole pack so that way I should get some. I could have let it go a bit longer save for the milk and vegetables. It seems easier to get slots now although you still have to take them when you see them. I seen Brakes delivering a couple of times and had never heard of them before so I'm going to check them out.
My life is all about food deliveries right now.
b1zzle - try eBay. My husband has successfully ordered all sorts of foods from eBay, e.g. organic prunes & walnuts, spelt flour. All have been excellent quality.
Hattiehelga - I've been trying to get condensed milk for weeks now and still haven't found any despite me looking in all shops near to me. Don't know if I'm too late on the day or they just aren't getting it it, so annoying.
Just back from Sainsbury's & the only thing I saw missing was flour- except for bread flour- they had loads of that. I didn't need any so it did not bother me but I do wonder is all these people buying the flour actually know what to do with it!
I know my DiL would not know how to make a cake or pastry. Luckily her son does as Grandma taught him!
Don't get me wrong DiL is lovely but no cook.
Morrisons, I got fresh lasagne sheets and a pack of dried lasagne sheets with my online shop this week.
On the plus side - my SIL discovered Jaspers would deliver their greengrocery to we vulnerables. They are so good but I made the mistake of paying upfront for three deliveries of their Combo boxes. To give you an example - the mixed salad bag yesterday weighed 1 lb. Now there is only so much salad two people can eat ! There were 2.5 kilos of carrots, 2.5 kilos of tomatoes included. I am now looking through recipes of carrot dishes and tomato soup !!Not complaining, we found it quite funny and thrilled to get 15 eggs.
I have had trouble getting basmati rice, Sainsburys & Waitrose have no stock. Found some in local village shop/post office though. They had toilet tolls when nowhere else had any too.
Family shop & I think they have to make many more visits to warehouse to keep shelves stocked. I did frequently use shop before pandemic and will continue to do so, hopefully, when all this is over. Small businesses need support.
Sorry to ask this but I think its true (and I am sure some of you won't like it). Why are some of you getting online shopping delivered when you can go out and shop. I'm on the 12 week lockdown and cannot just go out when I feel like it. I feel you should not be doing an online supermarket shop if you can actually go out. Very selfish! leave the slots for those who cannot go out and the food in the supermarkets for those who can.
Craftycat I saw a woman in a local shop hoard buying flour and toilet papers in the early days just before the formal lock down. They let her practically clean them out of toilet paper but limited her to two packets of flour.
As she left she said 'thank goodness I came here, Morrisons would only let me have two packets [of toilet paper]'. She was very proud of herself.
I think it is people buying it because they heard there would be a shortage and then causing one.
I did get pasta last week which I couldn't before. It was from Iceland though and I forget that they sell large quantities so it will last me ages.
When my Waitrose online order was delivered a couple of weeks ago, the driver told me that there wasn’t a shortage of flour. The problem was that they couldn’t get enough paper bags to put it in! I have always made my own bread - every other day now because both grandsons we are legal guardians to are home for lunch. My lovely daughter bought me a 16 kg bag of wholemeal flour online. A real lifesaver!!
I think my big gripe is when items are in stock when you place your order, then the dreaded e-mail on the morning of delivery that tells you 50% of what you ordered is no longer available!!! Infuriating.
I too like fruit and fibre cereal. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover that Lidl's Crownfield Fruit and Fibre is very good.
NannyC1, my DD was commenting the other day that her very fit 50 year old SIL is regularly trawling the websites to get a shopping delivery slot, when less able people can't.
I've not found anything as good as Domestos blue bottle bleach. Their white bottle, I find is weaker, as are other brands that I've tried.
Re M&S, I had an email saying they were doing deliveries in my area, using Deliveroo.
Worth checking out.
I must praise Ocado, I have used them for years and have a smart pass so I have a regular slot each week. This has proved invaluable as my husband is in the vulnerable group and I’m staying in to shield him. I have had flour (all types)and eggs delivered weekly since this whole nightmare started, and there have been very few substitutions or missing items. They have always delivered their own brand as well as Waitrose, but later in the year they will be swapping to M&S, a move I hope will continue their successful operation.
I've just had my second Iceland delivery. Same delivery bloke as last time, he's v. pleasant and helpful, shall stick with them when lockdown finishes - if ever!
Got the gin but no tonics to with it - gonna make do with a 6-pack of Tango, then. Gin and orange! How very 60s
And spring onions? Thought it was just me who uses lots of them, but seemingly not..
Got my full quota of stuffed olives tho, so I'm well pleased.
btw,jaycee5 last order I got your gi-normous's cauliflower's twin!
