Hello all,

If a man was given free rein on choice of music, and went for Cher, Donna Summer, Barbra Striesand etc, would it give you pause for thought?

(Sorry, I haven't phrased that very well blush)

Oopsminty Sat 29-Aug-20 20:31:36

I'd be over the moon!

I love Donna Summer

Yes,*Oopsminty*, I'm not averse, but all of the ones mentioned in the OP, consecutively?

MawB2 Sat 29-Aug-20 20:39:55

He wouldn’t be on my list ??

grannysyb Sat 29-Aug-20 20:41:02

Or mine!

merlotgran Sat 29-Aug-20 20:50:34

Or mine.

phoenix Sat 29-Aug-20 20:55:06

Thank you for the responses.

Charleygirl5 Sat 29-Aug-20 21:36:11

Nor mine. Who is Donna Summer?

GrannyLaine Sat 29-Aug-20 21:57:38

What would you have preferred Phoenix?

phoenix Sat 29-Aug-20 21:59:07

In defence, it was "The State of Independence" rather than " I Feel Love"

MawB2 Sat 29-Aug-20 22:47:54

Oh dear, haven’t heard of those ether.

Musical tastes obviously vary enormously.

I would be impressed:
Cher: Native American
Donna Summer: African American
Barbara Streisand: Jewish.

What a racially tolerant fellow you live with. Well done him.

Oopsminty Sat 29-Aug-20 23:04:57

Is this someone's playlist? For a function?

phoenix Sat 29-Aug-20 23:18:42

Spangler, for a start, who says the playlist is by the "fellow I live with"?

Secondly, I find it very odd that you choose to identify/categorise the artists by their ethnicity!

Bloody weird way of looking at music!

Spangler Sat 29-Aug-20 23:41:43

Oops, did I hit a raw nerve, I'e never heard of "fellow I live with." It was just something that seeing Cher, seemed obvious. But it has backfired on me.

That's what you get for never getting beyond the 20's, 30's & 40's music. I am a teenager of the sixties and would be hard pressed to name a single Beatles hit.

You don't seem offended, none was meant, I will be more careful in future. Sorry about that.

I would think that like many men, he likes the music of Cher, Barbra, Donna.

So do many women.

Charleygirl5 Sun 30-Aug-20 08:40:15

Nope

honeyrose Sun 30-Aug-20 08:43:53

Hi Phoenix. Love all of these artists. Wouldn’t even have thought of ethnicity - most people wouldn’t, surely. With all due respect, I’m not quite sure what you are asking?!

MerylStreep Sun 30-Aug-20 08:48:23

They are all gay icons if that means anything.

MawB2 Sun 30-Aug-20 08:50:14

You may have hit the nail on the head!

B9exchange Sun 30-Aug-20 08:51:00

MerylS that was what occurred to me - that you might be wasting your time with him! wink

Nortsat Sun 30-Aug-20 09:00:48

It depends upon who the man is ... and the context in which the music will be played.
If it was my partner who’d made that choice, i’d be astonished... ( it’s just not his taste ).

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 30-Aug-20 09:05:10

I'd perhaps think that his musical taste wasn't very deep or varied. No Pink Floyd, Ella Fitzgerald, Eagles, Beatles? And yes they most definitely are gay icons.

Oopsminty Sun 30-Aug-20 09:06:59

MerylStreep

They are all gay icons if that means anything.

Oh of course! Maybe it does mean something.

That didn't enter my head

timetogo2016 Sun 30-Aug-20 09:51:57

Well MerylStreep, you have taught me something today,i didn`t know they were gay icons.
